For those of you who think the flags and roundabout paintings are tacky...

What do you make of this house?

If it's on Google maps then presumably it isn't part of the current nonsense? Assuming no ill intention then I'd just kinda smile & do a 'heh' if I saw it IRL.

Do I like it aesthetically? Nope. But is it fun? Yeah.

The types going nuts with flags right now are the same sorry who would paint their house this way. I thought most people noticed when folks have flags up, in windows or on poles on their property etc. People have been flying this for years, with the same shitty opinions and hate. It's just ramped uo at the mo.

But not everyone who's flown it, etc, is a racist prick so I'm just not going to make that assumption. It also just feeds into the power they think the flag has - it's all a bit 'he who shall not be named'.

Also cannot find anything else for that photo so could be AI for all we know

TremendousBanana · 26/08/2025 03:03

I think there needs to be a separate board now called ‘Flag Talk’.

JMSA · 26/08/2025 03:05

Awful. Shouldn’t be allowed.

A guy on the street my mum lives on has spray painted a red cross on his house, he’s also done the same on peoples walls, fences and cars.

I like how door paint person didn’t realise England contains a second n, so had to squeeze one in.

BarbaraHavers · 26/08/2025 06:02

The photo in the OP reminds me of when the England men's footy team made it to the final of the Euros. A couple of houses near the school where I taught were like this. It seemed very OTT but I didn't see it as racist or thick. I would if they did it now, though.

MN has been taken over by threads on flags, Posters are now just searching the internet for random flag pictures for an excuse to post a thread.

Flag Talk
England Flag Appearances
National Symbolism Discussion

DiscoBob · 26/08/2025 09:50

I guess if your house was white already, then painting two red lines isn't that wacky. It does look silly but it's not like I'd refuse to buy a house on the same street.

When is it from?
Were England (men) in any big tournaments at the time?

TremendousBanana · 26/08/2025 09:58

There’s now a whole slew of posts about dangerous asylum seekers appearing.

Maybe they could all get shunted into Politics?

NewBeginnings77 · 26/08/2025 10:07

Someone local to me has painted their car usong a roller for the red cross. (Not my pic but from a local group). The cross extends to the bonnet and roof also

Unless he had permission wouldn't paint spraying other people's property be seen as vandalism? From reading the West Yorkshire Police website here I believe that graffiti can attract fines and even imprisonment for the creator.

snughugs · 26/08/2025 10:23

I’m Scottish don’t see a problem. Why shouldn’t they? It’s their property. I see Palestine flags and there was plenty Israel flags too in the Protestant part of Belfast when I visited, doesn’t bother me. What’s the fuss? Why are we slagging off working class people? I wouldn’t stick a flag up in my back garden but I quite seeing them. If this makes a few people upset this is frankly ridiculous. I don’t get it you can put out a Pakistani, Palestine, Scottish, America, Irish flag anywhere but use an English one and you might upset brown folk and you’re labelled as a racist. Eh no.

Alltheprettyseahorses · 26/08/2025 10:24

I don't see anything wrong with it - if it's real of course. It's their house, nothing to do with anyone else. I saw a phrase on here a few days ago, buying political opinions wholesale, and it seems we've had the England flag added to that. But at least the OP isn't screaming, crying and throwing up on this thread, there's always a positive when you look for it. Fwiw, I've never been impressed by performative rightthink.

Out of curiosity, who's the Turkish saint?

AzurePanda · 26/08/2025 10:27

So what, it’s their house they can do what they like

Saint George was born in what is now Turkey. His mother was from Palestine.
