For thinking that the migrant protests ...

Should be held at the council offices, Government departments, rather than the migrant hotels? After all, it's due to the government's lack of processing that the migrants are there?

I am not naive, but think that if it suits your narrative. My husband is Iranian.

Do you know any Iranian men? Or Afghan? Ever had a conversation with any?

It is 'culturally acceptable' for men in the U.K. to watch endless porn. It's 'culturally acceptable' for men in the U.K. to get multiple women pregnant and pay nothing towards their own children. Does this mean all U.K. men know no better?

But it isn’t. It’s a silly comparison. The Taliban regime is in charge, and they state what is culturally acceptable. Keir Starmer doesn’t advocate that it’s culturally acceptable to watch porn or get multiple women pregnant. That’s down to how they were raised, so comes down to parental responsibility, or the circles they hang out with. It’s not a way of life advocated by our government.

To be fair, there is Angela Raynor

It’s an example of UK core societal values that is reflected in our laws, these core values are in direct conflict with other culture’s core values that are reflected in their laws.

It wasn’t presented as an example. Societal values are considerably wider than that. I’m very happy that I don’t share the values of a lot of you on these threads, despite us all coming from the same culture.

Genuine question.

The whole boat operation. Surely more needs to be done to find the traffickers and their supplier of these rubber dinghies? Without the boats they wouldn’t be able to make it across. Also the suppliers of the life jackets. Where are all of these supplies stored in France while waiting for the next ‘passengers’?

Welllll you’ve only got to read mumsnet for five min to wonder how many marriages are happy

But that’s due to the way that people are. More likely to go on a forum if they’re unhappy than if they’re happy. If you’re having marital problems, you come on a site to ask for advice. Whereas if you’re happily married or content, you’re not going to come on a forum for advice are you?

Luckily, you're showing yourself (and your hypocrisy) up nicely without me retaliating. Well done 👍

I was replying to you calling me petulant, do you know what retaliation is or nah

Well there is Angela Rayner. Who I’m no great fan of, but she hasn’t advocated watching porn or getting lots of women pregnant. Yet……

I actually as it happens can think of one man from Iraq that I know professionally and 2 from Iran. Both are in high ranking professions and were educated at top universities.

I don't think these are the people arriving on dinghies though....

I don’t imagine she ever will either. That was a particularly cheap shot.

This is what Starmer is trying to stamp out. But as has been said before, it’s like whac-a-mole. Get rid of one set of enablers, and you will just get others stepping in to replace them. There’s literally thousands of people out there happy to be a supplier or people trafficker to fill the gap.

Do you think the rest of the world would be welcoming the British men on the protests today? What values are they 'ingrained' with?

Also: yes porn culture is a problem in the western world. There's absolutely outcry about it everyday! It's not like people all say "this is acceptable here " !?

Funny how all the immigrant haters suddenly care about the UK homeless, when they've never given them a second thought before all this shit happened.

I've been donating to Shelter for years. Have you?

The state of some of these men protesting under the guise of 'concern for women in tieir community.' Yeah right. It's the very men protesting I'd be most likely to avoid.

And as for the female protesters, their energy would be better spent dealing with their own husbands, ex- husbands, 'baby fathers' and sons - the majority of whom are hardly a credit to the nation.

Standard issue oikaphobia. Nothing like a good bit of bigotry towards the working classes, eh?

Did you think I’d presented it as a comprehensive list of the UK’s values? Does that sound plausible?

You may not share the values of some people on here and it’s fine to disagree. But when someone’s values put my children and grandchildren’s future quality of life at risk, then we’re going to have a big problem. Shouting racist, wife beater, bald whatever phobic isn’t going to make this go away and I think some people need to start to get their head around just how angry the majority of the UK is.

Absolutely agree we have some crap men we walk amongst. But they are British born. Nothing we can do about them. They are what they are, and unless they break the law when we can incarcerate them, there’s nothing we can do. And it’s also highly unlikely the rest of the world should, or would, welcome them. But the point is we can currently determine the quality of people we allow to settle in the UK, so we should be working hard not to accept them if accepting them in large numbers is going to negatively impact our country. Sometimes cultural differences are too great to accommodate either party.

HushTheNoise · 24/08/2025 10:28

The protests in Falkirk are scary. ( Mentioned by @TheLizardQueen ). Led by a convicted criminal, with incendiary banners on display. The local Facebook group is now swiftly moving on to Raise the colours, a far- right inspired and funded group. At least once they put their flags up it will be easier to spot them. Now it's on 'it's all a conspiracy' including 20 minute neighbourhoods. Most people in Falkirk can't walk the length of themselves so would be scared to leave their car behind! Then he rants on about COVID, net zero, others chime in with the great reset. It is a particular type of person, and also probably the type of white males who fill the courts locally weekly with violence against women and girls, drug offences, traffic offences. They have never protested about other injustices.
They also happily all use just eat, local takeaways and the NHS, all of whom are staffed by people who weren't born here. It's truly scary as someone who has mixed race children.
