For thinking that the migrant protests ...

Should be held at the council offices, Government departments, rather than the migrant hotels? After all, it's due to the government's lack of processing that the migrants are there?

Please quote where that has actually happened, and not where you have attempted to twist what people have said to fit the narrative in your head.

You are putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 5.

I’m pretty sure Farage has plenty of legal people advising him.

If he has and they’re any good, he’d know about this. If it could be achieved at all it would take years.

This policy would require leaving the Refugee Convention, change your national domestic laws, which reflect the operation of the Refugee Convention, pull out of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) and give the government through primary legislation essentially full powers to remove aliens who are regarded as being undesirable from the United Kingdom,”

It's not whether Farage realises all this. If people continue to get behind Reform (as they are) they'll get into power. That's the first step.

And those voters would expect results almost immediately because Farage is promising that. They’d desert him in a heartbeat if he didn’t deliver. And he wouldn’t be able to. If it was as simple as he says, why did the Tories fail to do it?

I've already quoted it. Your banging on about Project 25.

What are your thoughts about rising sex crimes and certain demographics being over represented in said offences? Should we just ignore patterns in behaviour and 'be nice'? What message does that send to the thousands of women who've been raped and sexually assaulted?

Rewis · 26/08/2025 11:06

I'm hoping to emigrate to UK and become an immigrant. Due to family reasons. This all concerns me quite a bit and I'm pretty sure I won't be able to get a visa since the requirements tighten all the time. Which i don't think is the solution for the type of immigration that is being protested. Getting to UK is fucking hard. Spending time in the UKvisa sub really has some sad stories. I know people are just numbers, not individuals so their story doesn't matter.

I do agree that something has to be done to illegal immigration, overstaying visas, asylum seekers and student visas. But everytime these protests are in the news, the utter twats are the loudest. It is impossible to think that there might be a point to the protests when all I see is chavs with signs that say "kill them" and graffiti and faux concern over women's right from men who are wife beaters.

Hollyohara · 26/08/2025 11:11

Where in the world uses the word ‘chavs’? 🤔

This is a different topic to the one being discussed.
This is about the disgusting immigrant riots.
The attempts to give them credence by using other peoples trauma to conflate issues and imply that all immigrants are rapists and murderers is vile in my opinion.

These types of people have always been out there. The issue is that they're now feeling emboldened by the massive surge in popularity of Reform etc.

The worst outcome IMO is that people who have genuine concerns see these types of people as the only ones prepared to stand up and confront the issues. In some ways they'd be right as generally people would rather look the other way.

Open your eyes and you will see that there is a difference between the current protests that have been taking place and the disgusting riots. It's almost as if people think of they write something enough times it will make something true. There has been no rioting at these protests despite the attempts of rentamobs being dropped in and given a taxi service by our police force to counter protest.

I agree with you completely. Farage’s argument would probably be that no other party is willing to go far enough.

Times are hard and people feel desperate. That makes them vulnerable to his rhetoric, empty though it is

Who's said that 'all immigrants are rapists and murderers'? And you're accusing me of twisting words?

It's always the same. Every attempt to try and downplay sex crimes rather than have the difficult conversation.

Her use of English is as good as that of many MumsNetters.

She is making different mistakes, but not more serious ones. The more important test is, do they impede communication? They do not.

Many UK universities, including Russell Group, are functioning today only because of Overseas undergraduates who exhibit a lesser spontaneous command of written English than this post shows.

Reform are leading the polls right now. Doesn't that ring alarm bells for you?

People like you are the reason why people get frustrated and turn to Trump/Reform etc. If you won't address these issues then others will take it into their own hands as we're seeing.

LlttledrummergirI · 26/08/2025 11:45

So why the outrage?
Why the inability to see from others point of of view?
Why the aggression?

When you actually want to engage in debate in good faith then let me know.

While you are aggressively pushing your all immigrants is bad and ignoring any nuance then you are not helping your cause.

I wasn't disparaging the grammar at all and apologies if this is how my post came across. What surprised me was the use of the words twat and chav. It's not language I've heard anywhere other than the UK!

Nope. Reform are the only party actively promoting themselves and campaigning. They should have been winning all recent local elections by a landslide, not coming 4th.

I have no doubt that when other parties start campaigning, this will change.

I'm well aware it is far from perfect, but "interesting" is new. But since I am not actively emigrating (mainly cause nobody wants me 😅), I have time to learn to be less "interesting" 😀

LlttledrummergirI · 26/08/2025 11:49

A surge in noise from the far right and reform doesn'tmean that they are rational, or correct.

I have faith in the British people who abhor this kind of hate.
