For thinking that the migrant protests ...

Should be held at the council offices, Government departments, rather than the migrant hotels? After all, it's due to the government's lack of processing that the migrants are there?

Heartening to see that most of the protesters are being outnumbered by counter protesters.

Yes, it is.

How many of you have a hotel full of 18-35 year old illegal immigrant males housed within a mile from you? Where they wander the streets and children’s play parks in groups. There are no women and children in these hotels. Different story if there was. Where are all the women and children 🤔

I suspect you and I live in the same town! Ignore my username it's not relevant here

All our local sunburnt bald headed beer bellied ones were waving their flags outside a hotel today. Pathetic racists.

‘our local sunburnt bald headed beer bellied ones’

Wow. Such bigotry in one so.. so.. uhm.. kind

Can you explain why the 'counter protestors' feel the need to fly the Palestinian flag? Have they weaponised it?

Livelovebehappy · 23/08/2025 23:11

Starmer really needs to get a grip on this. He’s handling the whole immigration situation very badly. Immigration is amongst the top three concerns of the average voter. I agree that protests should be outside government offices rather than hotels, and if he doesn’t start to listen to the voters, he will be thrown out at the next election, and Reform will be given a huge boost. People complain about that possibility, but if it happens it’s totally on the Labour government I’m afraid.

Oh look, what an original comment. Never heard that one before. What a flex.

Still spectacularly missing the point though.

not missing the point, just pointing out the hypocrisy. It doesn't mean I don't see their point, just can't see how tying up local police keeping flag wavers at bay is helping 'protect' local women and girls, whilst sat in vans and its still not safe for 'Sophie' to walk down the road at 2am a mile away. If not in these hotels they will simply be moved elsewhere. They are here, they aren't going to be thrown out without being 'processed'.
It requires a bit more work than chanting outside hotels, using votes wisely, lobbying MPs, campaigning for getting laws changed, and importantly calling out other/ our men as well as incomers on their behaviour towards women.
I totally agree the government are floundering over the issue but Rob and Sue outside Seaside Hotel arent going to change that by flag waving.

Oh come on. You must recognise that a very particular type turns up at these protests.

No problem being racist then when it suits you, apparently.

I thought the same. What’s the reason behind it? Fgs, they pop up everywhere and anywhere….

Dead cat incoming.

safetychange · 23/08/2025 23:14

Won't someone please think of the white bald ones ! They deserve kindness and empathy, unlike the people they are trying to intimidate with their placards and flags.

There is a hotel up the road from me, only found out it housed asylum seekers during last years riots.

The people are no trouble, no increase in crime, The only one arrested have been the protesters,

Ok. Do you understand why the people in Epping were upset about the migrants who were housed in their community? Do you know what happened there and why the locals might want those men removing from their community?

It’s just left wing ‘thinking’, I doubt they even know what they’re protesting/counter protesting from one day to the next.

Posting a video from today, Stand Up To Racism said: "Over 500 anti-fascists in Bristol with @ BristolSUTR have humiliated a rump of 35 far right thugs #standuptoracism."

I think it’s because you’re using someone’s skin colour in a derogatory way. No one really cares, but you know you’d report someone’s post for even mentioning your skin colour.

Hollyohara · 23/08/2025 23:19

Livelovebehappy · 23/08/2025 23:12

It’s the protestors and their omnicause. ‘The Omnicause is, simply, every cause you must care about if you’re A Good Progressive rolled into one, because everything in the world is connected.’ Let’s add immigration protestors counter protestors to the list.

https://www.thejc.com/opinion/welcome-to-the-omnicause-the-fatberg-of-activism-rw849dht

So trans rights are connected to Palestinian rights are connected to environmental concerns, and any self-respecting progressive who cares about one has to care about the other two.

Queers for Palestine; headlines in the Guardian such as “Emissions from Israel’s war in Gaza have immense effect on climate catastrophe”; standfirsts in the New York Times such as “In many students’ eyes, the war in Gaza is linked to other issues, such as policing, mistreatment of Indigenous people, racism and the impact of climate change.”

Too long, didn’t read? “Everything that I don’t like is fascism.” I’ve lost count now of the number of Democrat senators whose social media biographers finish with “she/her. Palestine.”

I don't remember the outcry when Sarah Everard was brutally murdered by that met police officer? Or the report published regarding dozens of police officers being convicted of rape. (See link). Why were there no mass demonstrations outside the police stations?
news.sky.com/story/dozens-of-police-officers-convicted-of-crimes-including-rape-and-sexual-assault-since-sarah-everards-murder-13086063

Really? I remember a massive vigil/ protest and arrests. It was widely reported.

Why should people be kind to racists?

So it’s okay to mock a person of colour and their physical appearance if their political beliefs differ from your own? And make disparaging comments about their bodies - that's not racism?

Interesting!

Sky quoted his approval rating as -41, as bad as Blair’s after the invasion of Iraq. 43% want Rachel Reeves removed before the budget. Pretty stunning figures.
