Should be held at the council offices, Government departments, rather than the migrant hotels? After all, it's due to the government's lack of processing that the migrants are there?

@VaseofViolets given that they majority are coming from countries that we have gone in and caused mayhem (Iraq and Afghanistan two of the highest), my opinion isn't really relevant - we have a moral responsibility to. As well as the basic moral responsibility to help other humans regardless of the colour of their skin or the language they speak.

What you're quoting as 'genuine concerns' aren't genuine concerns at all. It's racism based on ignorance. Just like the abusive men claiming they're doing it to protect 'women and girls'. Its based on prejudice not facts.

Where do illegal migrants get put up?

Edited

Typically deported, or into the black economy/ slave trade. Not into taxpayer funded hotel.

Where do they get put up whilst waiting to be deported?

Starmer calls them illegal. Perhaps you should educate him instead.

Have already written to my MP..

We need our politicians to get the basics right.

More than two thirds who were arrested

Exactly. God knows how many avoided arrest.

mrshoho · 23/08/2025 21:52

LlttledrummergirI · 23/08/2025 21:38

Again for those in the back of the room.

Illegal migrants do not get put up in hotels.

Refugees do.

It's a pretty simple fact which unfortunately our media (owned by rich people who don't want to have the tax returns questioned),particularly GB news with an agenda, are happy to ignore.

Whatever works when whipping up hate.

For those in the back right back at you, The majority of the asylum seekers housed in the hotels are awaiting to be processed. The authorities will have limited data while investigations take place. A percentage of these people will eventually be identified as illegal Immigrants who will either be deported (according to our leaders) or slip into our society undocumented. Where do they live someone asked? Squashed into HMOs designed for 6 in single rooms who then sublet and have 4 extra people living in each room. Come to Harrow if you wish to see evidence of this.

Those figures you quoted are from last year's riots though?
This year's protests are a different kettle of fish. We're not seeing widespread violence. Most are peaceful according to the police. I don't see the relevance.

‘More than half (65%) of the increase in the UK population between 2004 and 2023 was due to the direct contribution of net migration.

Since 2020, almost all of the growth in the population has come from net migration.

Official figures projected that the UK’s population would grow from 68 million in 2022 to 77 million in 2046. Net migration accounted for 104% of this growth. Net migration has accounted for 98% of population growth since 2020.’

If anybody thinks this isn’t a problem, I’d suggest they’ve got a comprehension problem.

I see a huge difference, as do the police forces dealing with them.

'Don't view women the way we do in the West'. Don't be wilfully obtuse and naive. How do you think most of these protesters view women!? Please engage the brain and don't just parrot GB 'News' talking points.

I wasn’t talking about the protesters.
Don’t be so rude.

BIossomtoes · 23/08/2025 22:02

Net migration accounted for 104% of this growth, because deaths were projected to outnumber births from 2030.

All us boomers’ fault again because we’ll be dying. I note you cut that bit off.

Netcurtainnelly · 23/08/2025 22:04

Swiftie1878 · 23/08/2025 13:41

A ‘certain type of person’?
OK.

I don’t agree with the protests outside these hotels, but refuse to vilify people who are often genuinely frightened for themselves, their children and their communities.
Having several hundred men turn up in your town, mostly from cultures that don’t view women in the way we do in the West, and who have nothing to do but loiter around town in groups together must be very disconcerting.

Having empathy for the immigrants is of course desirable, but some empathy for those living with the fall-out from the governmental failures in handling them should also be considered.

Agree.
I saw pictures where someone had been round a park in hounslow. Groups of men sitting in a park where filmed.
How bloody.intimidating for a women that's got to walk through the park.
I.know they were probably.justvresting and had nowhere else to go but it did look bloody odd and intimidating.

Net migration fell sharply in 2024, from the unusually high levels seen in 2022 and 2023

How does protesting outside hotels help reducing immigration?

Yeah it’s down to 500k, only a population the size of Leeds that year. How anyone can defend this and not see the blatant disaster we’re facing is beyond me.

MrsSkylerWhite · 23/08/2025 22:13

Proud of Perth today. Around 150 protesting against migrants (several of whom weren’t local). Around 250 with migrants welcome placards.
Perth is a vibrant, diverse city. Thank goodness.

What disaster are we facing exactly?

And how do these protests avert it?
