To wonder what’s going on with all the big lips

Everywhere I go I see women with massive lips. It looks like so many women are wearing lip fillers.

i totally get that if you’re someone with really thin lips then you may want to plump them up, but I see this look on lots of women from their 20s to 60s.

I agree!
I got castigated on here yesterday for saying a woman shouldn’t dress ‘to please a man’ !

Women are trained early to become their own oppressors

I just find it sad, along with the thick drawn in eyebrows and furry fake eyelashes, and stiff as a board foreheads, I’m sure all these women (and some are still just girls) looked just fine before they did all this shit to themselves.

Those eyelashes!!! What the fuck is that all about?

Big lips are going out of fashion, apparently.

God I hope so, it’s absolutely quackers!

What I don't understand is men who date women that look like this!

I think it’s because it makes them look like a blow up sex doll.

I agree with you and the comment you're responding to.

I've often wondered what the quality of these relationships is like.

Is there a correlation is between women who do it for this reason; men who choose these women for this reason and women who find they are in relationships with (young) men who cheat, are porn obsessed etc

It's just a musing really because, I know there's no guarantee in any relationship but we seem to have seen a rise in some young women presenting themselves in highly sexualised ways and equally a rise in young men who treat young women badly and who see them as merely highly sexualised 'objects'.

It's purely anecdotal but my daughter is 19 and so I see a range of young women through her from the totally wholesome 'girl next door' types right through to lip fillers, eye lashes, boobs out and everything in between and the more 'girl next door' type they are, the better their relationships seem to be. The more these young women do to adopt this particular look, the more likely they are to be in a crappy relationship with a man who doesn't respect them or women in general.

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 19/08/2025 09:28

I find the super-smooth, very plump lips look quite unattractive. Lips are supposed to have creases in them so we can stretch our mouths. It must be so uncomfortable when your resting face includes lips stretched to the max already.

GreyCarpet · 19/08/2025 09:34

I know two women who have their lips so inflated it looks painful.

One can't close her mouth properly and they're so full that the wet inside part of her lips is visible on the outside of her face. It forms part of her lips and has a weird puckering. I don't see how she or anyone else can look at her and find it attractive tbh.

I think people just lose sight of what it actually looks like eventually.

BlueandPinkSwan · 19/08/2025 09:43

Cinaferna · 19/08/2025 08:48

I see this - young women on nights out and they all look identical - iron-straight dyed blonde hair, botoxed foreheads, big brows, lashes like some furry creature has taken up residence on their eye lids, and big trout pout lips. You can;t tell what they really look like. The faces are like dolls or masks, devoid of expressions. I find it quite creepy even though they fit the current idea of prettiness.

It's regarded as pretty? No, Pretty ugly definantly.
Where I used to live there were several young women who were attractive but they all seemed to go down the trout pout thing at the same time, the results were a joke, So much so I wondered if the provider was actually trained to perform the service.

Daboomboom · 19/08/2025 09:43

A lady I see in a coffee shop, cant open her mouth properly because of her lips so she lisps when she talks. I have to question the ethics of the practioner who did that to her. I guess it's what she asked for but surely when it makes your mouth unusable you have to say enough?

A lot of the younger women I work with get injections and fillers like I'd get a hair cut.

Genuine question - what happens when lips are dissolved or the fillers absorbed? Surely your skin has stretched so you are left with sagging lips? Like if soneone loses a lot of weight they are left with excess skin?

Whatareyoutalkingaboutnow · 19/08/2025 08:59

Dupe.

Edited

What are you talking about now?

D'you mean the people with fillers have been duped? Or is this a new way of saying that the OP is duping us?

PersephonePomegranate · 19/08/2025 09:48

do men prefer that look?

Straight out of porn - all the better to blow you with. There's a reason those old blow up dolls had huge lips like this, isn't there?

I think it's really sad that these porno looks are infiltrating the mainstream. Many women won't stop and ask themselves why this is a look, which is also sad.

Holluschickie · 19/08/2025 09:49

It's quite odd for those of us who have naturally full lips thanks to our ethnicity, and were first teased for it in our teens, and now asked where we got such natural filler. DD is in that position!

Daboomboom · 19/08/2025 09:51

A woman on a Facebook group Im in regularly posts look at me pictures. Amongst other things she has huge lips that are tattooed (I dont understand how that works tbh). She spends a fortune on her look and clearly loves it so it's none of my business (and Id never critice soneone personally on their looks) but I think she looks a mess and quite scary tbh.

Injected lips might be on the way out but I have noticed women doing the trout pout on photos again, regardless of their lip size. Why?!

Fozzleyplum · 19/08/2025 09:52

As the parent of a DC who has anaphylactic reactions, I have to stop myself from offering medical assistance to the owners of some of the swollen looking, over-filled lips I see.

5andals · 19/08/2025 09:55

I always wonder how this might confuse their kids in the future, wondering why they haven't grown up looking like their Mum's. Family photos must be a joy.

Please let this be true.

Isittimeformynapyet · 19/08/2025 09:58

Not long ago this thread would have been full of angry, presumably lip-filled women accusing us all of being insufferable snobs - "how fucking dare you judge other women for making the best of themselves, you vile bitch!"-type stuff.

I'm glad the tide has turned.

The beauty industry ( beauty obviously being subjective) is driven by women not men. If the money was spent on improving their self esteem at a roots level instead of turning themselves into a photocopy of someone else they’d seen this ridiculous trend would stop. Trends are for the anxious. It takes confidence to leave the house with an unadulterated bare natural face. Those are the ones that stand out.

It’s the boiling frog. Each tweak is just a little more than the last one, so you don’t notice if on yourself. But the end result is very exaggerated.

Absolutely

Zippedydodah · 19/08/2025 10:19

MinnieCauldwell · 19/08/2025 08:52

The thing is once you have lip filler you get a shadow over the top lip. Looks like a moustache. Never seen anyone with filler who doesn't have that look. Plus looking sideways on you get the duck effect, their choice though.

I imagine that if you stop then you would have strange, wrinkly, flabby lips because the skin and underlying structures have been deformed by the filler?
Not a good look I think 🫣

PInkyStarfish · 19/08/2025 10:22

I regularly see a young woman who has had her lips inflated to comic proportions. They look like two glistening pink sausages. The lip gloss she wears always looks patchy, perhaps due to them being over inflated?

She has a uniform of pastel coloured outfits - pale pink, beige, cream and pastel blue that are matching top and bottom that are either skin tight or cropped sweatshirt and jogging bottoms.

she also has over inflated breasts and an unnaturally large backside which looks strange with her slim legs and waist.

She has long dyed matte black hair and massive fake eyelashes.

She has sported this look for at least three years.

Her husband looks like a normal bloke. I noticed that he has quite thin lips.

They have three daughters and it’s hard to see if there is any resemblance to their mother as she looks like a cartoon caricature but they do have a strong resemblance to their father including the thin lips.

I wonder if the girls will be influenced by her look and when they become teenagers will try to emulate this look.

People do stare at this woman as she’s quite startling to look at so I wonder if the children notice or she thinks she is receiving glances of admiration?

The lips actually make me wince, they look so painful and uncomfortable.

I found this photo online but they are identical to what this woman has except for this woman has patches of red. It must be the look she wants as over the years they look the same.

To wonder what’s going on with all the big lips

“<insert judgy comment> but each to their own.”

If people want to spend their money on something that makes them feel better, more power to them.

We can have a separate conversation about why women choose to change their looks and how the beauty industry spends £billions on convincing them they should, if you like?
