To wonder what’s going on with all the big lips

Everywhere I go I see women with massive lips. It looks like so many women are wearing lip fillers.

i totally get that if you’re someone with really thin lips then you may want to plump them up, but I see this look on lots of women from their 20s to 60s.

The thing is once you have lip filler you get a shadow over the top lip. Looks like a moustache. Never seen anyone with filler who doesn't have that look. Plus looking sideways on you get the duck effect, their choice though.

What I don't understand is men who date women that look like this!

Surely this happened about 5 years ago, and the trend is actually diminishing now?

Yes I thought this too, it was fashionable a couple of years ago but less so now. Many round here are going back to more natural looks which is much prettier.

It’s the porn star look. A lot of men love it.

Do these lips collapse back to a flattened mess if not topped up regularly? If I ever had it done (I won't), I could see myself getting fed up with the fish pout and the cost of the extra lipstick required and would go back to nature. What would that be like?

I heard the tail end of an interview on the radio with someone saying just this. It makes sense if you stretch them with fillers repeatedly, once you stop they will look like empty balloons?

Whatareyoutalkingaboutnow · 19/08/2025 08:59

Dupe.

Yachtingaroundtheworldiwish · 19/08/2025 09:00

It’s so called fashion but to be fair it’s not a good look.

It's because of porn I think. Porn stars have their lips injected so they look better when they're giving a blow job. That's what the men want and that's what some women are delivering. In my opinion of course.

Dangermoo · 19/08/2025 09:02

It's just another example of women thinking all men love big lips - very much the same as thinking all men love big tits. They can say they are doing it for themselves, but it's trying to be alluring - to men. Very sad.

They look absolutely gross.

Women are turning into ducks! 🤣

I saw a woman in Aldi yesterday like this. Sat a child in the trolley, pushing it with one hand whilst having a conversation on her phone. She'd got overinflated lips especially the top lip that was curled up and made her look deformed.

Topped off with stretchy nylonny leggings that scrunched up the crack of her (substantial) arse, and slides.

Hillarious · 19/08/2025 09:07

Does anyone here think they look good?

unconditionalpurelove · 19/08/2025 09:11

FionnulaTheCooler · 19/08/2025 08:32

It's not to my taste but its their body, their choice I suppose. I do wonder what the long term health implications of people having all sorts injected into them will be though.

This. Plus I wouldn't want anyone but a doctor or highly trained medic injecting anything into my face.

MissyB1 · 19/08/2025 09:13

I just find it sad, along with the thick drawn in eyebrows and furry fake eyelashes, and stiff as a board foreheads, I’m sure all these women (and some are still just girls) looked just fine before they did all this shit to themselves.

Laurendelaney1987 · 19/08/2025 08:38

It seems to be a particular type of look. Very groomed women if that makes sense (hair done, full make up, glam clothes). Footballers wives type of look maybe?

is it a status symbol?

do men prefer that look?

"Do men prefer that look?"
I believe I speak on behalf of all men when I say no we don't, we find it absurd. 🙂

Tagyoureit · 19/08/2025 09:16

Its definitely not a look I'd go for. Once you get up close, it really does look awful. A lady served me in a shop and her face was so over inflated with cheek and lip fillers, it really did look bad and she couldn't talk properly because her lips were too big.

I dont see how any professional doing these fillers allows that.

I have noticed older women getting it done too but overly done, and it really doesn't look right. I can understand that getting older, your face sags and ages (I would seriously think about doing my tear troughs if I was brave enough!) but it really has to be done right.

desiderata328 · 19/08/2025 09:17

The irony with lip filler is that it generally looks better on people whom already have larger lip compartments to accommodate it. Thin lips can only accommodate very small amounts, else it simply migrates (duck pout).

Done well (modestly) I think it can look nice. But there are an alarming number of crap practitioners out there. I watched the Chloe Ayling documentary recently and was shocked at how badly her lips had been filled. How does a model get to that level without one person telling her it’s completely migrated? It’s such a shame as she is stunning and just doesn’t need. It detracts from her natural beauty imo.

Rallentanda · 19/08/2025 09:18

I see it a lot on Instagram and just scroll past. I used to think it was for men, the whole look. But I wonder if it's not a kind of way of fitting in with a particular type of woman. I don't know. It's a mess.

Someone said if you can get women doing a lot of labour to make themselves look a particular way, you've got them oppressed in a way. Imagine all the hair straightening, contouring, pedicuring, all the money on tweakments, fake tan and gym membership and status handbags. I do see it as a form of oppression.

sorrynotathome · 19/08/2025 08:31

Big lips are going out of fashion, apparently.

Hopefully…along with whatever superglue stuff they use on their foreheads that makes then shine….think of that mechanic woman in coronation street!

Slightyamusedandsilly · 19/08/2025 09:20

I saw someone the other day that I haven't seen for 3 years. She was unrecognisable. When she spoke to me, I had to use contextual clues in her chat to understand who she was. My response to her was probably weird too.

No idea why she needed to do that to herself. She was much more attractive before.

I agree!
I got castigated on here yesterday for saying a woman shouldn’t dress ‘to please a man’ !

I see this - young women on nights out and they all look identical - iron-straight dyed blonde hair, botoxed foreheads, big brows, lashes like some furry creature has taken up residence on their eye lids, and big trout pout lips. You can;t tell what they really look like. The faces are like dolls or masks, devoid of expressions. I find it quite creepy even though they fit the current idea of prettiness.

That's it exactly! It's like everyone wants to be a clone. What happened to being an individual?
