To wonder what’s going on with all the big lips

Everywhere I go I see women with massive lips. It looks like so many women are wearing lip fillers.

i totally get that if you’re someone with really thin lips then you may want to plump them up, but I see this look on lots of women from their 20s to 60s.

I think they are filled.

It’s a 14 year old child.

Boy or girl?

But dc have completely different lips to adults 😆

And, perversely, it seems the more conventionally attractive they are, the more they aspire to this unnatural, homogenised 'perfection'. As if its only one tweak away...

The homogenisation makes it so boring though. I always think most of the famous beauties have a slight flaw because originality is beautiful. Also features despite not being perfect sometimes just work really well together.

I completely agree!

A girl. Why? What difference does that make?

And what are you basing that “wrong” opinion on? I see about 50 clients a week so my opinion is based on quite a high rate of factual evidence. Tell me, what’s you career that you base your opinion on?

There is bias in your career though, as you work in the beauty industry. You see women who go to beauticians because they are preoccupied with beauty. Maybe many of them are jealous - for the latter reason.

I am in my 50s and have probably had beauty treatments less than 10 times in my whole life. I expect this applies to some of the others speaking up; you have little exposure to our views. Don't get me wrong - I like to look good but I am not preoccupied by this and am moved much more by brains, personality, and sexiness, which, by the way, has nothing to do with looks. I can categorically say that I am not jealous or threatened by these women at all. 'Threatened' is fucking laughable! If anything they give me more confidence. I guess some of the men I'd be interested in might be swayed by an artificial look, but my contempt for their shallowness would quickly overcome any regrets I might have.

I am speaking out about this because in an insidious way it suggests a sexualised raison d'etre for women. I don't think that is a good thing for young girls to be influenced by; it's misogynistic.

OMG REALLY????? When did this start happening?

🤣

A girl. Why? What difference does that make?

Because - and I don’t mean to be rude - but the face looks to me a lot older - more fleshy - than a young teenage girl. It looked like a mature woman, but I thought when you revealed the age that it might possibly be a boy - something about the cheeks, chin and upper lip.Hard to explain!

I hope you gain some confidence and self worth soon OP.

I have plenty of confidence and self worth. But that doesn’t stop change the fact that I’m short and fat (and don’t fit to modern beauty standards)

But what I am trying to get the point of is I don’t give a sh*te what you look like, so why do you care if I have filler in my lips or face? I’m not trying to influence anyone’s children, how your children look at myself or anyone with filler is none of our business. Why do you have opinions on other people’s looks is the main concern and the fact a thread has been made about it. I find It very bitchy and nasty in all honesty.

I can't help but to judge women with duck lips as having low self esteem and probably not being very intelligent nor being interesting persons. It's cognitive biais: it has proven to be right so far but I'm still waiting for someone to surprise me.

How would big lips affect your intelligence? Very confused at this strange comment

I don't think you're very confused at all.

But in the event that you are of limited imagination or understanding, the suggestion is that its a relationship of correlation rather than causation.

Grapewrath · 25/08/2025 15:29

I have naturally full lips- lots of people ask if I have filler.
I like the big/filled look personally but I don’t really care what other people do with their own faces. Most filler is so subtle you wouldn’t notice.

Laurendelaney1987 · 19/08/2025 08:38

It seems to be a particular type of look. Very groomed women if that makes sense (hair done, full make up, glam clothes). Footballers wives type of look maybe?

is it a status symbol?

do men prefer that look?

Absolutely not. I find thinner lips much more attractive. The whole lips, botox, fillers, false eyelashes thing seems to make everyone look the same.

It wouldn't, the low iq would be there before and getting giant lips is just a manifestation of it.

TooManyFools · 25/08/2025 16:57

It’s another way to get women to part with their cash and who knows, maybe their health! It’s a scam!

No, it's not bitchiness or nastiness. It's just observation. Human beings evolved with excellent eye sight, infact it's considered one of our evolutionary strengths. And we are adapted to make surprisingly accurate judgements and observations based purely on visuals.

Societal stereotypes exist for a reason and it's because, by and large, they're pretty accurate.

Have you ever even bothered to think along these lines before?
