Marks & Spencers bra fittings and trans women - they've missed the point

IdaGlossop · 18/08/2025 18:36

A mother complained to M&S when her daughter was approached in-store by a trans woman asking if she could be of assistance. The daughter needed a bra fitting and was upset as she could see that the member of staff was male. M&S apologised.

Today, in response to the incident, M&S have announced that bra fittings are for biological women only. The solution to the mother's complaint is to not deploy trans women staff in the lingerie department! Banning trans women from having bra fittings discriminates against trans women and doesn't solve the original problem.

YANBU = M&S have messed up with this decision
YABU = Banning trans women from bra fittings protects biological women from being offered bra fittings by trans women staff

this tells me you know nothing about trans people Holy molly When you do feminising hrt you grow breasts like have you not done your own research on trans Do you even know what gender dysphoria is

Ooh, a drive-by scolding - we haven't had one of these for a while!

Mate, we couldn't care less if men have got tits either from being overweight or from taking hormones or from being hypnotised by the Polanski The Nork Whisperer. They're still men - dysphoria or otherwise - and women-only spaces are not for them.

Wasn't there a trans woman who claimed that his work colleagues gave him their spare bras?

I think that's the Malaga Nights fantasy, isn't it? Being included in bra-sharing, alongside pyjama-clad pillow fights and subbing each other with sanitary products for all the times we left the house without them Hmm

And totally disregarding all rules of traditional grammar and spelling in the process 😁

Yes, it’s painful.

That is irrelevant to the topic.

and do you hear yourself You do realise some women might be weirdos or something Does that mean that we should ban all women from getting a bra fitted and i'm you're saying your friend works in a court and see that in that court There's not very nice people in there that's like saying I went to a prison and there was bad people in there

You're obviously very young due to your vernacular and lack of capitalisation and punctuation, but males are the predator sex and commit 98% of all sexual assaults. There is a reason a woman or especially pubescent teenage girls don't want a MALE handling and measuring their breasts. This should not need explaining.

if it was a CIS woman would it be Assault on a Child Plus she wasn't unaccompanied

No because that 'cis' (which is a banned term on this site, btw and can get your posts reported and deleted) woman is a woman.

He, was a MALE. A man.

He didn't realise she was unaccompanied until the mother moved into view from around the corner, and then he fled.

Oh yeah i'm so very sorry if with tits needs to get a bra fitted regardless of gender Whether that be a trans woman a trans man or any other person I think you're forgetting that a lot of the population have tits I need bras Not just trans women and sis women you probably haven't even taken into account what intersex person is

Oh here we go, dragging in intersex and weaponising them. Intersex is not a third sex. They are either male or female. Just like 100% of the population. Further, they have asked that you stop weaponising them in this discussion. Educate yourself.

Yes, now under the trans umbrellas, according to Stonewall, of course.

We also seem to have forgotten that crossdressing used to be considered (by law enforcement) a red flag. Men who commit sexual crimes, and serial killers, have a much higher incidence of crossdressing than other groups. But apparently, it's all fine, and no man would ever exploit trans loopholes or act out their fetish on unsuspecting women just going about their days.

Yep, thanks to the gaslighting and nonstop propaganda and the #bekind, it's not only fine, it's brave and stunning.

Intersex refers to individuals who have physical sex characteristics, such as chromosomes, gonads, or genitals, that do not fit typical definitions of male or female. This condition can manifest at birth, during puberty, or may never be noticeable, and it is not considered a disorder or disease.

I use a text to speech because I'm dyslexic First of all Second of all how about you pull up the rates for trans women

So what? Lots of fat men have tits too. None of them have the right to insist women measure them for bras.

sorry I didn't really make it clear Let me restate it for you I mean anyone who needs a bra should be entitled to someone to help them measure them like isn't this like a really basic thing I didn't mention gender at all it's all up to consent If someone doesn't feel comfortable measuring chest or directing them how to They don't have to you're acting like people are being forced to have their chest measured which is completely false

No what you are talking about are people who have a DSD. They have repeatedly asked not to be called intersex and not to be included in the lgbtq+.
The term intersex is outdated and offensive, it went out of use around the same time as spastic, moron and mongoloid etc, so please stop using it. Oh and DSDs are nothing to do with trans and trans people are no more likely to have a DSD than the general public. Also the rate of DSDs is under 0.1% not the 1.7% claimed by stonewall et al by falsely including POS which is not a DSD.

Hoardasurass · 06/02/2026 19:25

No dear

Nobody has an enitilement to be measured.

A male person rocking up to M&S female staff and demanding she engages in physical contact with him just because she works there has zero rights.

A M&S manager demanding she engage in physical contact with such a male is failing to take reasonables prevention measures to insure the female staff member is not subjected to sexual harrassment

TheNinkyNonkyIsATardis · 06/02/2026 21:04

"Our bra fitting service has been developed for female customers"

Since when? M&S are awful at bra fittings.
