To not remind my husband it's my birthday?

DoneWithThisShizzle · 12/08/2025 23:21

That's it exactly. It's my birthday in approximately 24 hours and I think he has forgotten. Hasn't asked what I want or snuck anything into the house. I've answered the door to the postie for the past two weeks and taken in nothing that he hasn't opened and shown me.

So as not to dripfeed, it's his mum's birthday the day after, it's a big one, so he's been organising a party for that (not that I think it's a good excuse to forget mine).

Do I remind him? Or not?

Talk about endless pointless burbling - holy hell! I imagine you've popped several blood vessels on this tirade 😳🤣🤣🤣🤣.

No one told me to RTFT, I finally did. Wednesday was my birthday, I was out for lunch with my parents and then at work, yesterday I was also at work, OP I'm glad you had a lovely birthday and I hope your MIL has a lovely one today.

I'll leave the thread open for the rest of the day for those who are invested and want to catch up.

Confused

I k is how you feel as I go through this every valentines, Mother’s Day and birthday. It’s tedious and it makes you feel uncared for, unimportant and worthless. I’ve tried not to remind him but my daughters usually press him to do something. But it really isn’t about forgetting, it’s about respect. Men think because they’re often the breadwinners, they’ve got far more important things on their minds. I’ve got mine on Saturday and I’ve asked for 6 years for an eternity ring but I’ll never get it. Do t remind him. He’ll just say he knows then get some crappy gift last minute.

Why would you want an eternity ring from someone who thinks so little of you? I'd rather have an eternity ring from my dc

Laurmolonlabe · 15/08/2025 09:18

No, you shouldn't remind him, if he truly has forgotten and the surprise party/ trip to Paris doesn't materialise you've got him for life- every argument you ever have you have won-sit back and enjoy.

Lovely update, glad you had a lovely day OP. For me “bought plants” is just about the best thing you could do on any day, and especially your birthday. My family always joke that I have to look the other way whenever they spot a garden centre while out and about.

Blades2 · 15/08/2025 10:39

My birthday is one of those dates that usually the whole world celebrates so really difficult to forget.
my ex used to make out my mum had pushed me out on purpose on that specific day to ruin his time on that day too. The most I got was some discount bath stuff and pjs handed in the bag he bought them in or money transferred to my account, the next day 🤦‍♀️
im glad he remembered OP. If it’s what’s done in your house don’t mind the shitty comments x

Thank you. Garden centres are my happy place 😊

Kudos to your mum! Glad he's an ex 👍

I have thick skin when it comes to "alternative opinions" 😉 😂

Did he remember?

Gosh - if only there were some simple way to find out!

Pelsall116 · 16/08/2025 08:55

I would let it play out and see what happens; presumably you will get cards from friends so watch his face as they go up..................

If you read the OP's posts you will be able to see what happened, but to sum it up - the OP's birthday was on Thursday and her husband had not forgotten at all.

OP cleared this up the same day. He remembered. It’s all in the updates.

And only to have it deleted, along with much of the other insulting nonsense they were hoping to sneak in under the radar.

Sweetsnbooksnradio4 · 17/08/2025 20:23

I’m a bit surprised, in this day & age that there isn’t a shared family calendar on phones. I wouldn’t manage, now without - not particularly birthdays but certainly more routine stuff!
