Messaged "celeb" crush and now feel like an idiot

A bit lighthearted. He is a member of a semi- famous indie band. I just replied to his IG story asking about his pet. Nothing at all flirty. I'd had a couple of glasses of wine when I did that. He didn't reply and now I feel like an absolute tit! AIBU to feel like this? He probably gets loads of messages from fans and doesn't really read them so I'm probably BU!

@PullTheBricksDown as i said its lighthearted. I'm both mortified and laughing at myself! I've met people who have met him and all have said he's lovely ☺️

Edited

He's probably not even seen your message, can't you just delete it?

Seriously, you have nothing to worry about. I once told a work colleague when I was a bit tipsy at a work do, that I fancied a married man who'd flirted me. He had a bit of the George Clooney about him so think I can be forgiven, but of course I would never have dreamt of going there.

Unfortunately she told another work colleague who was extremely toxic, who reported me to my manager and told her that I was actually having an affair with him. My manager then reported me to his place of work, all done without actually asking me if any of it was actually true!

I live in a small town so obviously people started gossiping, and I was absolutely mortified and even considered moving to another part of the country!

@Arlanymor nooo nothing cringey- that's not my style. Just said that his pet was beautiful and asked its name (I genuinely do love animals) ☺️

I would think that he probably assumes you are some kind of pet nut rather that someone who is obsessed with him

Ha ha, that's a great story and a brave thing to do if you ask me. If it was Glen Hoddle, I also had a crush on him in the seventies. 😀 X

I emailed a former England football manager (initials GS) via the FA last year to thank him for his work as manager. Not sure why I don’t fancy writing his full name, as he’s very well known - but I’ve gone all shy 😂 I don’t fancy him but just really respect and admire him. I never got a reply, and I doubt he even saw it, but I’m glad I did it.

Also emailed Adrien Brody’s agent earlier this year to congratulate him on his Oscar win. Again, just felt like it and never got a reply but glad I did it.

@Fandango52that must've made her whole year! What a lovely thing for him to do.

@Fandango52- quoted the wrong bloody post, didn't I 😅😅 I meant the one about your daughter!

This is hilarious

I don’t know what this means?

I once accidentally messaged William Orbit, in the early days of MySpace (for younger readers, this was a sort of Facebook prototype). For some reason I imagined he had added me as a friend (not sure how I got this idea... not even pissed!!!), and thanked him. Then I realised my mistake and wrote again to apologise. He sent me a very sweet message saying that getting the hang of it was all rather confusing and not to worry. Emboldened, I sent him a track someone I knew had made. He said it was a perky little number and was very nice about it. When I told them, they were gobsmacked because when they had put the track together, they'd often joked "What if William Orbit got to hear this one day?" and I had inadvertently realised their dream!

I don't think any celeb would reply to a message from a random person on their Instagram story. ConfusedHe probably doesn't even run his own account.

Eddie Izzard replied to me !

I wrote a letter to the queen years ago when I was little because some foxes were culled due to them eating some swans! Mi mam must have said that all swans belong to the queen and so I wrote her a strongly worded letter telling her to leave foxes alone in the future or else. Months later I received a fancy letter back, wax seal and everything, telling me they’d passed my very serious concerns on to the queen! 🤣

They do that with everyone.
I've had the bog standard letter ack too.

Yeah, I know! Feels a bit more important than that when you’re 7 though!
