To be appalled at Catherine Zeta-Jones' face?

We've been waiting to watch season two of Wednesday and when we saw it today we were all really shocked at the state of CZJ's face. My children struggled to recognise her!
She's obviously had a facelift between S1 and S2, but it was really badly done. Her lips are all stretched out and her eyes are pulled up to her hairline. She looks like she is heading into Jocelyn Wildenstein territory.
It's really sad, because she was always such a pretty woman and it was good to see an older woman (not 20-something) looking amazing in a TV show.

The reason she gets work is because people comment on her looks constantly because she is in the public eye and in a way they would never do to a man. This is such a depressing thread.

Zov · 06/08/2025 19:48

What a disgusting thread. 😠 She looks fine to me. Bit jealous are you @Supercompetitivesibling ???! Hmm As has been said, let's see a photograph of YOU.

And 'your children struggled to recognise her?'

Really? Hmm Most 'children' don't really know who she is, and even if they do, they won't remember her from 20+ years ago when she was younger/before she had any fillers.

Nasty thread. Truly.

I'm watching it right now and can't say I noticed any difference from last season.

MaryGreenhill · 06/08/2025 19:50

She looks beautiful older but beautiful.

JHound · 06/08/2025 19:51

Is there a photo?

Woman puts herself out there in the public eye, craving attention. If she shifts her face around significantly, people will notice and say something. I've seen some shocking work done on faces and lips, Botox, lifts etc, not just on slebs. If they make themselves look like clowns people are going to comment, whoever they are.

@whackamole666

she doesn’t look like a clown hun, she looks great. Could you be a little jealous?

OonaStubbs · 06/08/2025 19:52

It's so sad, I remember when she was in the Darling Buds of May, she was so beautiful.

MagnificentBastard · 06/08/2025 19:53

Such sanctimony on here. It’s pretty normal to comment on a celeb’s ‘work’.

I think she’s clearly had a facelift, but it looks good. Mostly.

JackGrealishsBobbySocks · 06/08/2025 19:53

Bit of a pile-on of OP

Think all you lovely people who never have an uncharitable thought about anyone ever EVER have amply made your point

@Supercompetitivesibling

im sure she’d cry herself off to sleep about your children struggling to recognise her. Who cares???! Not her, I would guess - she’s beautiful, successful, rich, movie star husband, kids etc.

Almondmarcd · 06/08/2025 19:57

Really? I saw her being interviewed the other week and she looked great.

Let us know when you’re posting the full length photo of yourself so we can all constructively critique.

Alertscroller · 06/08/2025 19:58

I remember her first getting an eye lift at 29!

She is one of the most beautiful women in the world, but still.isnt allowed to get older. It shows the pressure Hollywood puts women under.

I think she looks good, but very obviously had work done. I personally think she would've looked better without it as she is so stunning. But she would never have worked again as Hollywood just doesn't want to see naturally aged women.

JoyDivision79 · 06/08/2025 19:59

I've seen much nastier things said on MN daily so agree that the pile on is unnecessary. Whatever OP saw probably did show her looking weird. I saw a still image and she looks normal still in that.

I actually understand the point that it's unsettling to see someone's face we once recognised look slightly less human. That's how I take this post.

Zeta Jones won't give two shits what anyone on MN says either.

Thebibleofdave · 06/08/2025 20:01

I had the pleasure of meeting her a few years ago. She is absolutely radiant! I think she still looks beautiful as ever....but her personality trumps her good looks! I'm dying to get a bit of work done but Im far too scared of a needle😅

Yes quite possibly jealous of CZJ as she's talented and beautiful and rich and happy and has a fabulous life.
I haven't seen her latest face but was commenting generally on anyone, male female rich poor sleb or otherwise who messes about with their looks. I think it starts to look weird when they've had too many procedures and there's not enough skin left to stretch.

Actually I wouldn't mind an eye lift , tummy tuck, ears pinned back ....

Sixtygoingonthirty · 06/08/2025 20:01

What? You are kidding?
she’s looks bloody fabulous. .

Vodkamartini3olives · 06/08/2025 20:05

She is a beautiful woman but I was shocked by her appearance in a recent interview. Anyone saying they can't see any difference is either being disingenuous or hasn't seen her very recently.

Miniatureschnauzers · 06/08/2025 20:05

Supercompetitivesibling · 06/08/2025 19:37

You're right. I did miss the mark, and it came across badly. What I meant from this is that it's really sad that she's felt she needed to have a facelift, because she's a beautiful woman, and it's sad to see that she can't just be herself. It was shocking to see how different her face looks.

I’m mid-forties now and really noticing lines above my lips, forehead wrinkles, frown lines and lots of lines around my eyes. I’m noticing I’m being responded to differently by other men and women and that I feel older in my body. I’m trying to focus on my self as a whole, rather than to zone in on individual lines! But when I do, I can really see how women (and men) try to erase the lines, smooth out the skin and soften the frown. Add to this all the ways that ageing women are talked about, and I can really see how the pressure can lead to people pursuing surgical procedures. Then add to this the pressure of being a Hollywood actor and it’s not surprising that women are trying to slow down the ageing process.
I think that it’s peoples right to do as they choose, but what I do love to see are images of (especially women) ageing, living with lines, with frowns and sagging skin. I wonder what the factors are which mean that some women are more able to tolerate and live with the natural signs of ageing and others feel the need to change their faces? I have always had quite low self esteem and, even when I was young and had smooth skin, there would be something physical about me I was desperate to change and felt rubbish about. Just never had the money! I may be wrong, but I wonder whether people who feel really good inside/ who feel loveable and valuable as they are and/or because of who they are rather than what they look like, are more likely to feel comfortable in the ageing process?

Epidote · 06/08/2025 20:07

She looks like a woman who take care of her skin and has done some cosmetic surgery procedures. Which tbh I can care less if she is happy with it, although I wouldn't do it. I can recognise her in a wink so she hasn't done that much to be appalled by what she has done.

Pedallleur · 06/08/2025 20:07

It must be hard to be in a world where you are constantly reminded of what you looked like at 19 or 25 or 35 and in a business where you are surrounded by beautiful people. DiCaprio with his latest 25 yr old, Jagger/DiNero a father at 80. Younger women looking at your husband or possibly son as a way to advancement and everyone around you trying to stay/look young.

BustyLaRoux · 06/08/2025 20:08

Appalled??

  1. Jocelyn W., she was an actual person. With friends, children, grandchildren to whom she was loving and devoted. She did too much. You did not need to draw in as …CZJ is not heading towards doing too much.
  2. CZJ …. Not at all comparable to JW, not appalling in appearance. As she is a public figure, and on screens large and small, she is polishing her skills same as most.
JLou08 · 06/08/2025 20:10

I think she looks amazing! I've never had any cosmetic procedures but I'd pay good money to look like that.

Flamingoknees · 06/08/2025 20:13

I had to google pictures. I agree, in some, that I wouldn't have recognised her. However, I think she still looks fantastic. I'm quite judgemental about plastic surgery, and the message it sends to women, but at the same time can understand the pressure society puts on women as they age. I remind myself of that regularly and try to think "each to their own" as my friends have various procedures. Fortunately, they all look fantastic too.
