Is Pride exempt from public indecency rules?

DD (aged 14) went into London today with a friend she is staying with. I can only assume friend’s parents didn’t realise it was pride weekend and we don’t live anywhere near London so had no idea.

Aside from the fact that it was a complete ballache getting back out because tube stations were closed, DD said she was shocked at some of the things she saw in terms of arses on display with men just wearing “thongs”.

How is it OK to have such sexualised stuff going on in view of young kids?

Pretty sure that Leather Daddies and such like have been part of pride since the start

Branster · 05/07/2025 22:38

@HundredMilesAnHour why would I want to take my children for a day out at a time of the year when every time we did this in the past we were faced with things I did not want them to see and I certainly didn't expect to find. Massive flag of a dildo flying from a bus as one example.
Going to work on a Monday is not a family day out and because you are going to the office it implies you are an adult.
Big difference.

Men are the sex that can ‘(and does) use their private body part as a weapon, yes.

Pretty sure that isn't their arse though....

I expect this poster expects to see underwear like attire on a beach. I don't expect she expects to see it at lunchtime in town on a Sunday afternoon.

I don't care what she expects. That's the point.

SquishedMallow · 05/07/2025 22:37

And I feel sorry for you. Any more kool aid left in that #bekind bottle of yours ? Or have you drank the last drop ?

Probably popped to the shops to buy some more.

JaneEyre40 · 05/07/2025 22:27

🙄 not my point.

What is your point then?

I thought Pride month was June.

The Holy Month of Pride feels like it’s year round. If I ever see another rainbow anything, it will be too soon.

Don't LOOK at it!? No one is breaking the law, YOU don't like it but no one cares what YOU don't like. How do you not get that?

I don't like fucking strawberry chocolate so I AVOID it.

You are so beyond deluded! Strawberry chocolate hasn’t the habit of using itself to dominate and abuse other people. As a child abuse survivor who was abused by a man using his sexual fetishes on me I don’t want to have to avoid looking and constantly anxious about seeing these perverts displaying their kinks to anyone around them. How about they keep it to themselves in their private homes or at some kink party where everyone has consented to see it. The world doesn’t revolve around men’s penises and arses and their right to shove them wherever they want! Oh wait it’s seems it does with people like you around to defend them!

TheOriginalEmu · 05/07/2025 22:34

Then don’t look. It’s quite easy,

@Fundayout2025 @JaneEyre40 and anyone else who thinks they're being clever by telling people not to look at public nudity...

It's really not easy though, is it? When man walked past me wearing ass-less chaps, as happened at the first Pride I attended, I saw his arse. It was done. I didn't know not to look there because an arse was about to appear in front of my eyes, did I?

You can't 'not look' at the place where something unexpected is about to appear!

Sabire9 · 05/07/2025 22:40

SquishedMallow · 05/07/2025 22:36

Doubt it. Have you seen their virtue signalling patrol cars ? Pictures of them on leashes in years gone by at Pride ? They're now a laughing stock because their chief drank the kool aid

The police have a long, long shameful history of letting down gay victims of serious crime, as a result of ingrained and well documented homophobia in the force.

Really think the least of the police's problems is being too 'on board' with Pride.

Fundayout2025 · 05/07/2025 22:40

IButtleSir · 05/07/2025 22:33

Because I don't want to see it! Why is that so hard for you to understand?

Don't look

JaneEyre40 · 05/07/2025 22:35

Thankfully someone has a brain. Jesus, this thread is scary. It's like something from the 70's.

What a load of sensationalist hyperbole. Men getting arrested and imprisoned for engaging in sex with another man is hardly comparable to women on here not wanting their children to see naked arses and kink in a public street at midday ? Ever heard of a balance?

mindingmyown37 · 05/07/2025 22:41

I’ve seen worse at Brighton pride 😂 pride is advertised pretty heavily, it’s always advisable to check what’s happening in London, it’s a very event heavy city. We have a naked bike ride here in Brighton/sussex every year… I just don’t go to town.

I’d like to be able to go into my nearest city centre of a Saturday and know I’m not going to see a guy in nothing but fishnets and a thong. Is this unreasonable? I don’t think so.

Thoughts and prayers.

I saw a man in a MAGA hat in London last week. So offensive. I shouldn't have to look at that!

TempestTost · 05/07/2025 22:41

I think it's pretty disingenuous to say "arses aren't inherently sexual."

Sure, but why are they on display at Pride? What do assless chaps have to do with it?

It's about sex, and men going out in their sex gear.

Don't bring your kids to pride then!!! It's very bloody easy.

Pigtailsandall · 05/07/2025 22:42

Gosh the prude brigade is in good form today. Won't someone PLEASE think of the children?

A 14 year old seeing a thong barely equals to end being nigh

I'd like to go into Central London and not have to see old people kissing, because frankly I find it disgusting. Even though I myself am old. 😂

So virtue signalling with a rainbow adorned car and getting their heads in a dog collar helps how?

This is where we must STOP segregating and then segregating some more in society. The more we do it the worse it gets. VICTIMS of crime should be treated to high standards. Who or what the victim is in terms of race, sexuality or sex shouldn't be segregated down.
