To think all MNers hate men?

I’m a lesbian so I don’t date men and I like women both to have relationships with and as a species! I’m a feminist and share some of the views on men that seem to be very prevalent on MN. I don’t hate men though. I actually feel a bit sorry for boys and young men today growing up in a world that is very critical of them (a view which I’ll probably get flamed for which’ll further prove my point!) I struggle to understand some of the clear contempt and, often what appears to be hatred of men from straight women on here. How do you date/fancy/fall in love with them if you have such negative views of them? Or is it just that every single woman with these views just happens to have one of the good ones? I doubt it. Isn’t it not that different to a misogynistic straight man who hates women but is happy to date them (thereby pretty much objectifying them for their own needs)??

You'd be hard pressed to find anyone more evil than Lucy Letby in the modern age yet people tie themselves in knots trying to defend her. Would people be trying to get a male convicted baby killer released?

To think all MNers hate men?

Essentially a thoughtless and stupid generalisation.

you left 'pure' off the last hatred

No wonder suicide is the biggest killer of young men. I hate the mumsnet demonisation of males, it’s disgusting, and deeply offensive

And where would that be? Any evidence for this assertion?

Hating men is a luxury of an ordered society. Go to the Donbas and ask how many Ukrainian women hate their men.

I bet they hate the Russian men.

There was a great quote somewhere. A man asked, “if not for us, who would defend you?”

The answer was, “from who?”

think a lot of women on here and everywhere really have unrealistic expectations of men. They are less complex than us and some women expect them to be mind readers and think the same way as us and its just not possible. I'm not saying all men are bad or rude or stupid they are just wired differently to us.

I think the whole men are wired differently is utter BS.

If they can notice stuff on their own and when they are paid to/ at work, then there should be little reason that they can’t do the same in relationships.

No one regardless of gender would be kept for long if they needed to ask a colleague or their boss what needs to be done if they have been there for a certain amount of time.

Crikeyalmighty · 22/06/2025 18:00

@phoenixrosehere I don’t think they are wired that differently - but they do seem in a lot of cases to have a fantastic ability to not notice/avoid anything they don’t actively want to do .

ExercicenformedeZ · 22/06/2025 18:02

I agree with you. I think that people on here focus on the bad men more than the good. They also handwave bad female behaviour, which I find even more galling.

People are unlikely to post about how happy they are. Not seeing the handwaving, indeed I see poor female behaviour is consistently taken up.

I think feminism has gone way to far! Its old fashioned. Women have just as many rights as men , if not more now. People who spew on about women's rights are usually men haters.
People forget the suffragettes gave us the right to choose. Not to-be forced to vote but for the right to express our opinion and to choose

Women are beginning to realise actually they had it good before.
They looked after their children, the men paid for that privilege and everyone was happy

Completely agree. No-one seems to care about men/ boys now. Everyone is so hurt by the men they chose. I'm sure the men have a different story to tell

Lots of people care about men, including the baffling number of women hooked up to worthless shites who post here saying what a good dad the deadbeat is.

Everyone? What on earth are you on about?

I'm sure the men do have a story but MN is not a court of law.

If you're so pissed off, why don't you go elsewhere?

Exactly. If anything, a lot of women care too much about men and their needs/wants/desires/feelings, when often that isn’t reciprocated.

Mrsbloggz · 25/06/2025 13:00

The mistake that women make is giving men the benefit of the doubt. As soon as they make a wrong move we should do it back to them. Instead too often we automatically defer to them, we tell ourselves that if only we understood them better if only we could find the right way to communicate etc then they would surely do the right thing and be as kind to us as we are to them. The truth is that they see us as weak and so they exploit us.
Women need to be taught that they must to stand up to men from the get-go, stop being kind and stop giving them too many chances.

Statistically some of these women must have sons, do they feel this about their own children? It’s so sad, my 3 boys are my life, I think they are wonderful young men

It's a well known fact that you could have easily googled for yourself. No need to be so damn patronising when the poster hasn't done anything wrong.

Well you’re absolutely wrong. In Afghanistan girls are banned from attending school past ages 12, so you know what that means then. Iraq also lowered the age of consent to 9 years old but was thankful it was reversed after global outrage. Women and girls in America who have been raised are forced to carry on with the pregnancy due to abortion laws. So tell me how women have more rights than men?
