To think all MNers hate men?

I’m a lesbian so I don’t date men and I like women both to have relationships with and as a species! I’m a feminist and share some of the views on men that seem to be very prevalent on MN. I don’t hate men though. I actually feel a bit sorry for boys and young men today growing up in a world that is very critical of them (a view which I’ll probably get flamed for which’ll further prove my point!) I struggle to understand some of the clear contempt and, often what appears to be hatred of men from straight women on here. How do you date/fancy/fall in love with them if you have such negative views of them? Or is it just that every single woman with these views just happens to have one of the good ones? I doubt it. Isn’t it not that different to a misogynistic straight man who hates women but is happy to date them (thereby pretty much objectifying them for their own needs)??

So why do so many women allow it? That's what I don't get before kids do they put up with it, is it 50:50 or is it on mat leave?

I see this among my friends. Love, sex and a hopeful outlook get them to the point of kids and co habitation. By the time you're in that deep, you have joint finances and a shared home. My DP is brilliant domestically but we wouldn't still be together if it wasn't for DS. Neither of us would be willing to be a part time resident parent. Unless DP was awful then like loads of people, I just suck up the endless annoyances and the lack of excitement.

ExpressCheckout · 21/06/2025 15:35

I agree with most of your points OP.

I think there are a small number of impulsive misandrists on MN who blame men etc. for all the unhappiness in the world.

That said, there are also those here who are quick to accuse people of misogyny, and sometimes that feels impulsive, too.

In my personal life, I probably have 50-50 contact with women and men, and I don't really distinguish them in the way some posters do.

At work, though, that's a different matter.

Through many jobs I consistently find that the worst bullying and harassment was ... drumroll ... perpetrated by women.

I could also say the same for racism and homophobia too. I've had to work for some truly awful women ... mostly in the public sector! 😢

Regarding relationships ... hmm, I also think that both women and men can be lazy and useless, just in different ways.

It sometimes does make me 🙄when a poster on here has clearly expected her DH to be the breadwinner, for example.

Similarly, the alternative reality of those expecting relationships to be 'the one' and to last forever - I find that a bit weird and naive as well.

Political leaders - well, yes, the evil leaders of Iran are of course all men, as are vomit-inducing imbeciles like Trump or Lee Anderson💩

But again it depends. Criticise Truss or accuse Kier of being weak and people cheer. Criticise Angela or Rachel and you're a misogynist!

But I do feel sorry for boys in our society. Many of them lack decent role models at home, at school or on the BBC in the media.

None of this excuses the DV or abuse of a minority of women by men. But the vast majority of men are decent human beings.

So you think that married women never get pursued by single men?

imhe men are usually the pursuers, whether they are the married one or not

No, I don’t think that. However, I think men are less likely to want to marry a woman who is already married, particularly if she has children.

EscapeToSuffolk · 21/06/2025 15:41

Let week, someone on here said something like murderers should be hung (wasn't that - I can't remember what was said), especially if they'd killed a child or a woman.

As the mother of two adult DS's, it made me feel a bit sad.

I think it's utter stupidity to not treat everyone as an individual. Wars start when we hate whole groups of people. But then mumsnet is a law unto itself - it isn't representative of the general population.

Are you trying to find moral virtue in shagging opportunistically and without discrimination instead of wanting to be married?

EscapeToSuffolk · 21/06/2025 15:43

Also, I used to host foreign language students and always requested girls. After being sent a boy by mistake, I realised how much easier they were.

EscapeToSuffolk · 21/06/2025 15:43

Generally.

No.

Gettingbysomehow · 21/06/2025 15:57

I'm not hugely keen on them. My husbands were awful, started off fine then degenerated once we were married.
I find if you don't have something sexual to offer hetero men then they have zero interest in you as a person.
My friends are all women and gay men.

To broaden this out a bit, men are funnier, and not because of some comic gene they have. They are funnier because they are more laid back, less uptight.

A funny woman is as rare as hen's teeth.

Women are sterner, more serious, hence your most hated teacher will in all likelihood be a woman (my worst in primary school was in P2, worst in grammar school was first year, both snappy women).

A real time example of why some women hate some men. Self-owned.

OutsideLookingOut · 21/06/2025 16:17

Do you think men hate women? Imagine if they faced the same level of abuse from women as women do from men? Imagine if we had an entire country where men were forbidden from talking outside of the home? Can you imagine how men might feel even if they didn't live in that country? I think not as many women actually hate men when they have many justifiable reasons for doing so. I think many men hate women though.

Floogal · 21/06/2025 16:19

I think a lot of it is people confuse feminism with misandry. Especially the so called feminists.

It does also seem Mumsnet hates people, especially men with Autism or mental health problems, people on low wages and fat people

French and Saunders stopped being funny after 2 series.

darksacrednight · 21/06/2025 16:24

I think a lot of mumsnetters hate men. And god forbid if you should show any admiration for your husband or any interest in what he thinks about anything. It’s a nest of vipers.

Bridport · 21/06/2025 16:28

Floogal · 21/06/2025 16:20

French and Saunders stopped being funny after 2 series.

Well they made another 4 series after (plus both have written hugely successful books and written and appeared in dozens of other hit TV comedies and films since then) so obviously not everyone thought so.

There are very few men I hate as most of those I know are great.

AMurderofMurderingCrows · 21/06/2025 16:32

I like to think I'm a fair person so I hate men, women and children 🤣

I don't hate men. My DH is lovely, and so is my son. True gents. BUT....I do have issue, with the fact that men are the cause of most of the world's problems. They commit 98% of violent crimes. They start wars. Look at Khamenei, Netanyahu and Putin. Three stupid men, hell bent on violence, I could bang their heads together. And these are old men, who should be wiser. I think there would be more peace if all nations had female leaders.

Most men, although not all, are just normal lovely people.👍

On MN, yes, a lot of posters hate men.

In real life, no.😂

I don’t hate men and actually loved raising my boys and there are so many good guys out there.

But bad shit in the world is 99% perpetrated by men and that’s what I’m sick of.
from the seriously terrible things like murder, rape, paedophilia, human trafficking, domestic abuse, selling drugs etc to stealing stuff, speeding, racing, antisocial behaviour, sexual harassment etc etc

Copernicus321 · 21/06/2025 16:40

Mine does all the cleaning, washing, shopping, cooking and mows the lawn. He won't let anyone use the dishwasher so he does all the washing up. I do the ironing. I think you'll find its the bad ones that are the subject of the MN threads, the better just don't get commented on. Having said that, their brains are wired differently, that's for sure.

If you're not already quite a hawkish feminist, lots of male behaviours/attitudes are hidden - or at least, capable of being looked past - until you have small children, at which point the male tendency to treat women like packhorses that you can fuck becomes apparent.

Most of the women here saying 'hold on, mine is great!' are looking at those men through patriarchy-tinted spectacles.

The percentage of men who truly, seriously, intentionally do 50% of what is required to bring a child to psychological and physiological maturity in a home which is clean and calm is in the low single figures.

The rest - regardless of whether they are liberal or laddish - are exploitative (and let's remember, exploitation is fundamentally abusive) cunts to varying degrees.
