To not feel very sorry for woman stuck in Turkey.

I was reading about a woman stuck in Turkey. She was there with her partner who was having teeth implants. So they got drunk and she fell against the glasss shower screen in the hotel. And it smashed. So they did a runner. Police chase. Got caught put in jail. Told they owed £15k or else. Sad face. Hmm. Though it does seem very steep for a shower screen.

That’s how they behave at home and get away with it.

Itsarecipefordisaster · 20/06/2025 23:50

This is my revised view having thought about my reaction to this

  • she drank alcohol while she was on anti-psychotic medication - that’s her irresponsibility
  • that led to her smashing up the hotel room
  • running away expecting to get away with it is illegal (in the UK and Turkey) - no excuse and shows a total lack of responsibility and integrity
  • she was in prison for 1 day - what did she expect?
  • her irresponsibility means she’s separated from her daughter
  • she thinks she’s above the law and can run away again but has been caught at port/airport - another attempt to avoid responsibility
  • she’s got the £15K to get herself out of this mess but has instead decided to spend it on hotels and then claim she’s a victim
  • she might be stupid (which she can’t help) but all of this is down to her character - she’s irresponsible, lacks integrity and morals and is now playing the victim

It’s called karma. I have no sympathy. She tried to rip off the hotel and it’s come back to bite her.

Of course I feel sorry for her, she's in fucking jail, it's not as funny as you think it is.

But she's stupid and common and drunk, she deserves it right, hahahahaha.

I can't feel sorry for idiots who bring things on themselves unfortunately.

First of all, LOL at 'celebrating teeth'. What in the Jeremy Kyle, crushed velvet sofa, 'Live, Laugh, Love' wall stencil does celebrating a set of crap 2k veneers even entail?

Secondly, she smashed her hotel room to bits and did a runner, in an attempt to avoid having to do the decent thing and put it right. Scumbag behavior. Of course she 'deserves' to face the consequences of her actions. Being 'common' is irrelevant; being drunk and stupid is not.

And finally, as if to confirm her complete lack of remorse and unwillingness to take responsibility, she's since tried to flee the country multiple times in a bid to avoid paying the fine.

A 15k fine she apparently can't afford, despite having spent 7k+ and counting on accommodation (she's not in prison, she's living in a hotel) and 2.5k on legal fees. A fine that she's now asking people to pay for her.

Pretty happy to have a chuckle at this one tbh. It's the kid that she left at home so she could celebrate teeth that I feel sorry for.

GFM says “setting this up would make Georgia’s skin crawl”… Georgia proceeds to give all the sensational details about it and also the organiser is Georgia Harrison 🤷‍♀️

Veneers can be minimally invasive, I still wouldn’t have them done, much better to get braces and whitening, or cosmetic bonding and make the best of your natural teeth. But in Turkey they do a full mouth of crowns, usually all linked together. Completely destructive to your teeth, near impossible to clean! These people will need full mouth of implants in the future when these fail, I just can’t get over the stupidity of that never mind the drunken smashing of a hotel room and if I was separated from my daughter I would very quickly pay 15000 to be reunited even if that left with me with years of debt.

What happens when their visa expires

This. And don't they work? Most people do in some form or another. What about that?

I imagine SS will be looking at the situation with her daughter as well now she's fucked up in such a variety of ways.

Still, when she gets back she will probably be on the various chat shows like that Peru drug girl I am sure.

I agree.
Seriously prejudiced racist comments

I didn't read it as prejudiced but as maybe she was being prejudiced against?

Which is obviously bollocks as she looks to me like a white woman who's a little too keen on the spray tans and sunbeds...

To echo a PP why does her GFM say 'organised by Georgia Harrison' but claims to be by her sister and that Georgia would be soooo embarrassed if she knew her sister had set it up 🤣? Does she even have a sister?

How old? Seventeenth century? I can't remember either Shakespeare or Chaucer using it? And in any case it means that someone is 'common', what the 18th century called 'vulgar'. Not nice.
Mind, woman in question was stupid.

I thought the Council Houses and Violence thing was invented by Owen Jones in the book mentioned upthread? And that it actually came from the Romani language originally. Could be wrong.

I've only read your description of whats happened. It's pure British comedy isn't it

If you knew the full story you wouldn't think it was a comedy
The relatives of the young girl did a ticktok asking for advice
Their sister is in a difficult situation and is very scared.
She's trying to do the right thing and trying to get home
Not funny at all
Her family are very worried about her safety

Teeth look like a dinner set.

I thought they look like one of those toys you give your dog that make them look like they are smiling.

Chav is a much older word than that recent acronym

Yes, and it certainly doesn’t equate to ‘working class’. In general it means people who just don’t know how to behave - or who do know, but don’t give a shit and behave in a thoroughly anti-social manner anyway.

If she's was very scared why didn't she use the £15k her family gave her to pay the charges and leave? Instead of trying to haggle, spending £7k on 'living expenses ' then trying to leave illegally?

I think people are making assumptions about the tattoo. It doesn't mention it in the DM or GFM page.

I think there are a lot of assumptions being made! She’s been very stupid but there’s no need to make things worse. I feel so sorry for her kid

So isn’t the story she has posted on her go fund me the real story? What else has happened?

KimberleyClark · 21/06/2025 17:04

I don’t have much sympathy with her, but I am also amazed any hotel would have glass shower screens in their rooms. Seems like a horrific accident waiting to happen.

I think you are right. The Romany connection sounds correct - in which case it must refer to non-Romanies, perhaps?

Polewaxed · 21/06/2025 17:40

Come on, we’ve all been there. You get new veneers, you go out celebrating, you end up trashing an overseas hotel room.

I mean, who hasn’t post-veneer trashed a shower?

Chavi in Romani is child

grumpygrape · 21/06/2025 20:31

Chav

I know Wiki isn’t the be all and end all but is often a good starting point. As with all language the use and meaning changes over time.

And then got into a chase with the Turkish Mafia, been arrested and gone ‘no comment’ in interview…

OonaStubbs · 21/06/2025 21:24

Is there even a Turkish mafia? Or was it the Italian mafia, operating in Turkey?

grumpygrape · 21/06/2025 21:29

I'm not an expert but I think The Mafia is The Mafia and this was 😉 the Turkish branch. I understand there are Mafia in Turkey but what dreadful luck for her to have encountered them. 😉

Bruisername · 21/06/2025 21:31

Turkish mafia is the general term for criminal organizations based in Turkey and/or composed of current or former Turkish citizens. Crime groups with origins in Turkey are active throughout Western Europe and less so in the Middle East. Turkish criminal groups participate in a wide range of criminal activities, internationally the most important being drug trafficking, especially heroin.

from wiki - I mean I don’t think hiding round the corner in a cheap hotel is the right choice if she truly has got on the wrong side of criminal gangs

Praying4Peace · 21/06/2025 21:43

Mintsj · 20/06/2025 20:39

Why does she not deserve to be in jail? I imagine that criminal damage is a crime in Turkey. She’s committed a crime by wrecking a hotel room - it’s not just a shower screen. She chucked stuff around in a drunken rampage.

Yes, drunken rampage which I am sure she very much regrets.
Very high price for her mistake.
Cut her some slack
