Inspired by a comment on another thread, and in an attempt to give relief from the weighty matters of the world, futile though it might be, here is my cat and her two week old kittens. A proud and devoted Mum indeed.

I had my Dad's funeral last week, and my MIL was cremated earlier today, and these little scraps are literally keeping me sane.

So if you have furry friends who keep you going, please share them here ❤️‍🔥

@MistressoftheDarkSide thank you for sharing your cat with us. Pets are immensely therapeutic ❤️ Here are my two oldies basking in the winter sun here in Oz.

Good morning fellow felinophiles and pet lovers in general - am loving this thread so much ❤️

Thank you all for sharing your wonderful photos and huge love to those whose furry friends are no longer with us x Their memories live on in the love expressed for them x

Have managed to grab a few snaps while Mum was having breakfast.

Was out yesterday visiting a dear friend whose partner also passed away a couple of weeks ago (I know, you can't make it up) as I now have my Bereavement badge, so kind of know the ropes and can be somewhat helpful. Said friend is also a cat devotee so I'm giving her Kitten watch videos twice a day, and her cats are doing an admirable job of looking after her too.

Big love to anyone going through anything at the moment ❤️‍🔥

And..... here's KITTENS 😸 😘

Oh for heavens sake ....

Picture too big....

Go back and edit picture.....

Picture still too big.

Gallery showing original picture when I try to upload it, but edited picture when I go straight to Gallery. MN can only see too big original picture. 🥴

Bit too early for tech shenanigans.

Shall try again later 😂

Here’s a set of photos of Kitty enjoying her catnip. We’re planting cat thyme today which she’ll hopefully have even more fun with.

My mum died a couple of years ago so I have an idea what you’re going through - I’m glad you & your friend have each other. And of course that you have the cats!

Here I am “nap trapped” by Hugo, the oldest of our 4 black boys.
He had a near fatal encounter with a car 11 years ago when he was only 2 and used up at least 6 of his 9 lives!!
He has turned into a lap cat over the last year but he can be very grumpy and any petting is strictly on his terms!! 😻

We used to advertise them at 8-10 weeks and invited prospective buyers to visit and see the kittens. If we liked the way they interacted with the kittens we'd take their details and a deposit. If we didn't like them we said we'd get in touch when they were ready to leave at 12 weeks and then we wouldn't get in touch.😉

Ours were always registered and insured and we had loads of people keep in touch and send photos. We always contacted them to remind them about neutering at the appropriate time - they were never registered for breeding.

A lot of breeders of pedigree animals only advertise through the breed club. There are responsible people and irresponsible people in all walks of life.....

Thank you for this. I asked for my post to be withdrawn because I didn’t want to derail the thread, but it’s good to know.

How gorgeous, @IJWMM.

Thank you, they are ridiculously gorgeous. Their friendliness is what bowls over visitors, both are brilliant characters.

I’m loving your photos. I want a plant pot like that, it looks like you’re literally growing a cat! Need to get me one of those.

Kitty & I live in a second floor flat so I’ve cat proofed the balcony for her. She likes snacking on her cat grass out there too.

I distributed 100 ladybird larvae around my flowerbeds yesterday.

Fingers crossed lots of them survive and take care of my aphid problem.

Sorry for your loss, OP- that’s a lot.

I did that

They flew away home...

I was then told it's better to get larvae and they're more likely to stay

IJWMM · 21/06/2025 13:21

@EmpressaurusKitty - lovely set-up for you both, she looks like she loves it.

When I got my previous two cats, I lived in a third-floor flat and I cat-proofed the balcony. They loved it out there. When I moved to my house it took them a little while to “trust” the lawn was safe to walk on!

I can imagine - I did the balcony after adopting Kitty & she was very suspicious of it for quite a while!

After having 7 boys this is our alpha goat's first daughter. She bonded completely differently with her and they are inseparable.

This is my daughter's favorite of the foster kittens. I don't know how we're going to give them up...

Yes… that’s the really hard bit! I managed & managed & managed & then I couldn’t.

You’re doing an incredible thing fostering though.

GuppytheCat · 22/06/2025 09:35

DH has vetoed "just adopting the little one" from our last few foster litters. And it always is the little sickly one I fall for -- when you've fretted over their weight and their failure to take to solids and whether they're being neglected by mum and bullied by their chunkier siblings, it's hard not to get all protective.

EmpressaurusKitty · 22/06/2025 14:17

Do you get updates from the owners? A couple of my fosters went to people I know so I still see them sometimes, and I get photos of one of them every year on her birthday.

Congratulations to you and your cat!

This is probably outing as they're fairly distinctive, but here are my beauteous boys. 🥰

❤️😍
