Women who wear the chanel style cardigans or cardigan and skirt sets, trying to imitate 'quiet luxury'

Nothing wrong with not being rich, I'm also not rich 😭😭, but i hate those cardigans with a passion!

Having teenagers that have brand new clothes but the mum walks around looking homeless. That might just be me…
I earn good money but I’m permanently skint! I never have any money for things for me. That’s not true actually I do buy things but they are few and far between.

alcoholnightmare · 05/06/2025 21:51

Fake Louis V bags. Fake any bags really.

ItssssAMeMariooo92 · 05/06/2025 21:52

Designer items with their logo written across it. Ie a top with the logo across the chest area

Daisydiary · 05/06/2025 21:53

Kids in Ralph Lauren 😬

This is quite a sad thread imvho.
not everyone has money to spend on labels, so what if they want to spend on something you wouldn’t otherwise buy. Leave people alone. Love and be loved.

Maybe hide it if it saddens you

Personalised licence plates

ArtTheClown · 05/06/2025 22:01

Long looooong fake nails.

IfIDid · 05/06/2025 22:01

The posts so far make no sense. No one who’s ‘broke’ is going to be buying their teenagers designer clothes or Dior bags!

Definitelymaybenoyes · 05/06/2025 22:03

Most cars with new number plates! (I'm aware many get these for work so that's a bit different).

The fact of the matter is, most people can't afford a new car outright but for some INSANE reason this nation insists on persuading random strangers that they are indeed loaded by driving around in a car that they can't afford. When I see them, I do often think if the person driving it knows it's the biggest depreciating asset a person can own.

I'm all for a BMW 1 series with an old number plate if it's got low mileage and runs well!

How are super long chavvy looking nails trying to look like you have money?

I don't think they are either, but the people who get them see it differently.

No the bags are like those old quilted nylon dressing gowns but in black. A triumph of marketing in making something unappealing covetable.

alcoholnightmare · 05/06/2025 22:07

Fake watches, and taking your Waitrose bags for life to Aldi!

Exactly.
These are aspirational brands, bought by people wanting to feel luxurious.
Whenever I see them I think how painful that someone has spent so much of their hard-earned cash on this (to my eyes tacky) bauble. All it does is make the company’s shareholders rich.

I can afford a bag like this but I want one. It says ‘mug’ to me.

OverlyFragrant · 05/06/2025 22:07

I think it's the designer goods with massive logos.
So incredibly naff.
