To think I've peaked after spotting three celebs in one day??!

On a work trip to London today. I spotted:

Hugo Taylor (MIC OG) this morning on the street near Liverpool Street station

James Acaster (comedian) coming out of Liverpool Street station at the end of the working day, AND

(Most excitingly for me) Marina Hyde with her husband, running for a train at Paddington Station!

I’m not even a massive celeb-spotter usually, but this was a personal record. AIBU to think this is peak and it’s all downhill from here?

Can anyone beat that? What's your best day of unexpected celeb sightings?

My only celebrity spots are:

Ronnie Wood (Rolling Stone) in Bath,
Edwyn Collins (singer) in Mallorca
Ray Winstone in London
Gaz Coombes (Supergrass) in Brighton

I saw Keith Chegwin on my tiny local high street in West Yorkshire and pointed with surprise and said "you're Keith Chegwin!" 😆

He stopped to chat and said he was presenting a fish n chip shop of the year award to the chippy near the airport.

Not as glamorous as London 🤣

Ooo disappointed that James Acaster may have walked past me today without me noticing, I was in the area earlier! I've seen a few celebs, most recently Ncuti Gatwa and Nicola Coughlan, but my most exciting sighting was probably Simon Farnaby, the fella from Horrible Histories who did the stupid deaths skit 😂 one of my favourite childhood shows to this day, what an icon haha

That’s impressive. Mine are Shaun ryder and gok wan at the Trafford centre, micheal mosely in London and also Greg w.

sarah Parrish and her husband on the airport shuttle at Miami airport (husband stared he thought he knew her husband from work). Someone from shameless uses the same gym as me.

oh and I served billy cork hill in a shop I worked in , him and Janice battersby live near me.

if anyone who is genx replies and says they don’t know who Shaun Ryder or billy corkhill are I’m closing my account!

I spotted someone, who always appears as a body language expert on true crime programme,s ,I excitedly, told my sister as I'm a big fan of true crime and she had no.idea who he was

@x2boys Cliff Lansley?

I was at a non political event through work many years ago and saw a man there and was about to say "What are you doing here??". I stopped myself but I could feel my face saying it. He smiled as if to say "Yes! It's me!". It wasn't until a good few hours later it occurred to me it was John Swinney. He doesn't look so smiley nowadays.

The year Ewan McGregor was Chieftain of Crieff Highland Games his friend James Cosmo was also there and he smiled at me. I very nearly swooned. Ewan's arse was out the window after that!

Many, many years ago I was doing the walk of shame early one Sunday morning in Edinburgh when Billy Connolly stopped to look in a shop window and said to the child he was carrying "Oh look, a fishy!". I was very hungover cool and pretended not to notice him.

Foodfiend2025 · 16/05/2025 13:25

Last night I saw Billy Ocean, Matt from Saturday Kitchen and Pat Sharpe!

That was Marina Wheeler

I’ve met Marina Wheeler. (This is a fun game!) She was tiny and quite quiet and seemed nice.

getahhtmapub · 16/05/2025 17:40

I walked right into (as in clashed bodies with) Paul McCartney and Heather outside Heals. I was so starstruck I then let the heavy door swing back into the face of Jonathan Ross and Jane.

That night me and friend went to a restaurant and Paul Daniels came in with Debbie McGee. He was dressed as Aladdin.

Bimblebombles · 16/05/2025 17:56

Walked past Halle Berry in LA

My weird spotting story was being at a smaller US airport one morning.

Al Sharpton -Celebrity Activist
The Oakridge Boys -Old School country band
Somebody else that I’ve forgotten but was totally random but famous.

I was talking to a couple as we waited for the airline to figure out what they were going to do with us. It was really early but the airport port was in chaos I think because of storm delays somewhere that brought this airport to its knees. As we were chatting I mentioned seeing Al Sharpton and they pointed out the band and the 3rd celebrity.

I leaned over and said “we are the safest we’ll ever be in our lives at this moment”. As you would expect they both looked a little quizzical at me until I said “Imagine the astronomical odds of something happening with these 3 random famous people all randomly at the same place”

They laughed and agreed

It’s totally true! I used to work on Tottenham Court Road. Slebs spotted daily!

Oh there was also the time probably 25 years ago that all of the League of Gentlemen were in the pub I was in in Islington for Mark Gatiss’ birthday.

More and more luvvie friends pitched up, all famous. I remember Stephen Fry and Derren Brown but I can’t for the life of me remember who the others were now. I would say that was about 10 slebs.

mambojambodothetango · 16/05/2025 21:36

Not in one day but over about 5 years of working in South Kensington I saw in the street: Pippa Middleton (twice), Louis Walsh, Julia McKenzie, Juliet Stevenson, Alison Steadman, Paul Whitehouse, Martin Freeman and Kim from How Clean is your House? I've also seen (in passing) Bill Clinton, Tony Blair, the Queen and Prince Philip. At the theatre (in the audience) I've seen Prunella Scales, Tim McInnerny, Ralph Fiennes, Tamsin Greig and Steve Reich.

mambojambodothetango · 16/05/2025 21:38

Oh gosh I forgot also saw in steeet at other times: Bjork, Jeremy Paxman, Mary Beard and Stephen Hawking.

FlySwimmer · 16/05/2025 22:04

Saw Lady Gaga in an airport once. I was sitting at a table in a cafe when some flashes in the corner of my eye caught my attention: it was all the paparazzi waiting for her! 😵‍💫

TwoFastHorses · 17/05/2025 09:27

Vin Diesel standing next to a large Bentley car in a side street in Mayfair, London, while he was changing his shirt.

IclimbedSnowdon · 04/02/2026 16:52

Not at the same time but I met Gillian Taylforth (Kathy East Enders) in a restaurant, I was with a group of friends celebrating my birthday. She came over and wished me happy birthday and had a chat, then we all went outside and had a group photo taken with her. Also saw her a couple of years later on the street while I was driving, I lived in the same area as her at the time.

Almost knocked Natalie Cassidy (Sonia East Enders) over when she stepped out from between parked cars on a side road!

Years earlier saw David and Victoria Beckham in M&S (Cheshunt).

Saw Muhammad Ali just off Times Square leaving his stretch limousine and walking into his hotel. He had a lot of people with him, and needed help walking.

And finally Pam St Clement (Pat Butcher East Enders) opened our summer fair at the school I worked at.

Bikergran · 04/02/2026 16:56

Not unexpected, but when the World Snooker is on at the Crucible practically every corner you go round or coffee-shop/restaurant you go into you'll spot a world ranking champion. Most of them, especially the older ones, lovely, approachable, very patient with fans.

I have no idea who any of those people are, sorry.

I saw Ruby Wax and Amy Winehouse separately in one day once. And once I went to a party with Laurence Llewelyn Bowen, Ewan McGregor and Rolf Harris there.

I've no idea who any of those people are either! (The OP's ones I mean!).
