To think I've peaked after spotting three celebs in one day??!

On a work trip to London today. I spotted:

Hugo Taylor (MIC OG) this morning on the street near Liverpool Street station

James Acaster (comedian) coming out of Liverpool Street station at the end of the working day, AND

(Most excitingly for me) Marina Hyde with her husband, running for a train at Paddington Station!

I’m not even a massive celeb-spotter usually, but this was a personal record. AIBU to think this is peak and it’s all downhill from here?

Can anyone beat that? What's your best day of unexpected celeb sightings?

Who? Never heard of any of these people! 😂

bruffin · 15/05/2025 20:47

I saw Romesh and Rob Beckett walking along together in Picadilly one lunch time.

I have also seen Bill Nighy a few times where I work now.

Sayshesheshe · 15/05/2025 20:49

Damian Lewis stood aside to let me come up the stairs in a restaurant recently. He surprised me with how handsome he was irl.

HowManyMintCLubsIsTooMany · 15/05/2025 20:50

Not heard of any of these.

Gymrabbit · 15/05/2025 20:51

Used to love James Acaster until he outed himself as a misogynistic piece of shit.

Splcam · 15/05/2025 20:51

I once was in a sushi restaurant in Bath and a few seats down the conveyor belt were sat Jack Davenport and Michelle Gomez. Now I was an avid viewer of both This Life and Green Wing but I did not clock it was them at all. That's even when I shot them a dirty look cos I thought they were being a bit loud. After they left my husband said to me 'do you know who that was?' My reply was along the lines of 'middle class drug dealers?' Er, no, he said.

We saw Dom Joly drinking in a Bath pub once. And Michael McIntyre lurking round the back of Marks and Spencer. I also worked at the same university that employed Julianne Regan of All About Eve and Fay Weldon. Had a lovely chat with Julianne once when we were both doing an open day. Never met Fay Weldon which was a shame as I was a big fan. But I was once at an event on the campus where she was based and had a panic attack in her office (anothet member of staff deposited me there as she wasnt in that day and it was a quiet spot to hyperventilate in). Very apt in its own way given the neurotic characters in her fiction. She had a very deep pile carpet and a glass desk if I remember correctly. Like Alexis Carrington-Colby.....

11 years we lived in Bath but sadly never saw the top Bath celebs - regular visitors Johnny Depp and Nicholas Cage.

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 15/05/2025 20:53

Hope you yelled Poppadoms or Bread at Acaster.

McCartneyOnTheHeath · 15/05/2025 20:54

Love Marina Hyde's writing but is she really a "celeb"?!

Lemons1571 · 15/05/2025 20:54

They’re out in force in London today at the MI premiere

Gyozas · 15/05/2025 20:55

Why are posters so proud of writing “never heard of them, sorry 🤣”. Just google them, then you won’t look a dolt for not having heard of Marina Hyde.

Also not sure naming Rolf Harris is much to be proud of.

MorningSunlight · 15/05/2025 20:55

If you have to explain who they are they’re not a celebrity in my book.

She is in my world.

Used to love James Acaster until he outed himself as a misogynistic piece of shit.

Wait, what? I liked him too, what did he say?!

I've spent much of my career working in London, either based in the city (near Liverpool Street) or seeing clients there, and I never spotted ANYONE! I even had a client in Wimbledon, they talked of spotting the tennis players but I never saw them. ☹️

ArcticBells · 15/05/2025 20:58

Sorry but I’ve never heard of them

augustusglupe · 15/05/2025 20:59

Got off a train at Euston the other week and Nick who used to be on the Apprentice was on the platform, on his phone.

unstableunicorn · 15/05/2025 20:59

Ooo disappointed that James Acaster may have walked past me today without me noticing, I was in the area earlier! I've seen a few celebs, most recently Ncuti Gatwa and Nicola Coughlan, but my most exciting sighting was probably Simon Farnaby, the fella from Horrible Histories who did the stupid deaths skit 😂 one of my favourite childhood shows to this day, what an icon haha

Tulipsontoast · 15/05/2025 21:00

I love James Acaster.

I used to see a lot of slebs but it was work. The only time that I was quite excited I came away feeling disappointed as they weren’t what I had imagined and weren’t very nice.

I did see Warwick Davis recently in a farm shop.

Marylou2 · 15/05/2025 21:01

Omg i love Marina Hyde. I've read her columns and listen to her podcast every week. I absolutely wouldn't recognise get so great spot there OP.

daisychainbroke · 15/05/2025 21:02

well I’ve never heard of any of them so I could quite possibly have walked passed them all and many others I don’t know today or any other day.

Gymrabbit · 15/05/2025 21:03

He’s a massive TRA. Thinks women should shut the fuck up as blokes dressed as women are the most vulnerable people in the world. Did a whole sketch about how disgusting Ricky Gervais is for standing up for women.

I used to love him and cried laughing at the conga skit but it’s ruined now.

PinkiOcelot · 15/05/2025 20:29

I have no idea who they are.

I once bumped in to Deidre Barlow in a restaurant in Mojacar.

That is such a fabulous celebrity spot!

MrsSkylerWhite · 15/05/2025 21:03

I know (and like) James Acaster. Never heard of the others, sorry 😊

Chatted with Tom Jones and Kirsty Wark in the departure lounge at CdG in Paris on the same day, many years ago.

Both seemed to be really nice people.

Fancyflorist · 15/05/2025 21:05

Right I do get that Hugo Taylor is barely a celeb, so I'll take that on the chin.

I also get that James Acaster is quite... niche?

But Marina Hyde!? I love her so much haha. To all of you who don't know her - do you know of the rest is entertainment? That's the podcast she does with Richard Osman.

Also to the PP who likes Marina but wouldn't recognise her - she was talking quite loudly when I spotted her and it was her voice that made me notice her 😉

He is awful. A colleague went to see him in Stafford where he was heckled. Said he went really nasty abd ended the show. Hadn’t even done an hour and was absolutely awful to everyone.

Not proud? Just no idea who she is 🤷‍♀️

Lots of people don’t watch popular tv or follow SM
