To think I've peaked after spotting three celebs in one day??!

On a work trip to London today. I spotted:

Hugo Taylor (MIC OG) this morning on the street near Liverpool Street station

James Acaster (comedian) coming out of Liverpool Street station at the end of the working day, AND

(Most excitingly for me) Marina Hyde with her husband, running for a train at Paddington Station!

I’m not even a massive celeb-spotter usually, but this was a personal record. AIBU to think this is peak and it’s all downhill from here?

Can anyone beat that? What's your best day of unexpected celeb sightings?

I have no idea who any of those people are, sorry.

I saw Ruby Wax and Amy Winehouse separately in one day once. And once I went to a party with Laurence Llewelyn Bowen, Ewan McGregor and Rolf Harris there.

That’s a weird mix of people at a party

FoxBaseBeta · 15/05/2025 21:08

Gail from Coronation Street was next to me in the French Connection changing room in Manchester once, she was absolutely tiny!

SpongeBob2022 · 15/05/2025 21:09

About 20 years ago I passed David Ginola in the street and then walked into a bar and saw Jeremy Clarkson.

MrsSkylerWhite · 15/05/2025 21:09

(Just googled Marina Hyde: nope, still no idea. Sorry)

garlictwist · 15/05/2025 21:09

I once gave directions to Kelly Holmes and Andrew marr on two separate occasions in the same week. And this was in Cumbria not London so quite the week for me!

Banmooo · 15/05/2025 21:11

I once saw Tony Slattery, Stephen Fry and Ade Edmondson within half an hour on Old Compton street.
Slightly cheaty though as I think they were leaving the same event!

I stood behind David and Victoria Beckham in the queue at M&S (Handforth Dean) many years ago, when their first two boys were quite small. I played it cool by grinning like a mad person at the children…probably traumatised them 😆😬

Wow!!
I’ve seen Christine McGuinness, again in M&S Handforth Dean and DH was behind Eileen from Corrie at the self service 😄
Recently there was an older, very attractive, lady in front of me at the checkout and she looked at me and smiled.
It was David Dickinson’s wife, she was with her son (the cashier said) she looked fantastic, very old world glam.

MrsMoastyToasty · 15/05/2025 21:12

I once saw David Jason, Nicholas Lyndhurst and the rest of the cast and crew of Only Fools and Horses in a restaurant in Bristol.

Impressive celeb spotting.
The most famous people that I ever met was Tyrone and Kirk, characters names, from Coronation Street.

I saw Izzy on a tram in Manchester!

camshaft · 15/05/2025 21:14

Last time I was in London I had a good few minutes chatting to Jonathan Ross walking away from Leicester Square. He had just finished off at global radio. He was a delight and we chatted like we’d known each other for years!

boysmuminherts · 15/05/2025 21:16

Not sure if I've seen 3 in one day and must say I have no idea who any of yours are OP...
But I saw Boris Johnson in a taxi crossing the Euston Road, have seen Jamie Redknapp on Great Portland Street and Anna Maxwell Martin in the German gymnasium at King's Cross.
Oh yes 2 celebs at the same party once - Aneurin Barnard and Ronnie Wood.

alcoholnightmare · 15/05/2025 21:17

I’ve seen Freddie (ex) MIC so many times I think he’s stalking me, or my dog he stroked

stargazingortryingto · 15/05/2025 21:17

I’ve never had multiple sightings in one day, but I saw Dianne Abbott on the tube once and Rhod Gilbert in a pub in Highgate. I would love to have seen marina Hyde too OP.

alcoholnightmare · 15/05/2025 21:18

As a teenager I saw Kat Slater from Eastenders.. her and her kids were stood behind me in a queue at Disneyland Paris

PersephoneSmith · 15/05/2025 21:18

I saw John Lithgow on Shaftesbury Avenue the other day. I’ve heard of James Acaster but I don’t know what he looks like, like others I’ve never heard of the other two, sorry OP.

abracadabra1980 · 15/05/2025 21:19

No idea who any of them are either ..

Picklepower · 15/05/2025 21:21

I stood in front of Robert Pattinson in the queue at the airport once. Saw bill nighy sitting outside a cafe opposite my old work. Given I grew up, lived and worked in London until myod 20s I haven't seen very many unfortunately.

Picklepower · 15/05/2025 21:22

I'm surprised people don't know James Acaster is tbh

CheeseWisely · 15/05/2025 21:23

Speaking of geeky semi-celebrity crushes, I was about 20 feet away from Dan Snow last week and didn’t know until much later in the day when he posted an instagram reel 😫

AgnesX · 15/05/2025 21:24

Who?

My only claim was Penelope Keith having dinner at the same hotel years ago (The Good Life). I didn't recognise her but DH was very excited.

Dreichweather · 15/05/2025 21:25

Not what you asked but James Acaster’s girl friend left his for Mr Bean (well Rowan Atkinson). For some reason this feels like a very piece of info to get my head around.

Jujujudo · 15/05/2025 21:25

In the 90’s I worked at Sound Republic in Leicester Square where they filmed MTV and the chart show. I remember one afternoon we had Westlife, The Beautiful South, Charlene Spiteri, Depeche Mode, Emma Bunton, Steps, Suggs, E17 and Suede in the restaurant. I even had a cheeky snog with one of them - I’ll leave that up in the air there…!!

Gyozas · 15/05/2025 20:55

Why are posters so proud of writing “never heard of them, sorry 🤣”. Just google them, then you won’t look a dolt for not having heard of Marina Hyde.

Also not sure naming Rolf Harris is much to be proud of.

This!

My money is on Emma Bunton…

A work colleague of mine who used to be a nurse, once treated Simon Le Bon and didn’t know he was. She also saw his wife at the same time, and thought how beautiful she was.
