Why are Kneecap not in prison?

1000 replies

BlossomBlanket · 29/04/2025 19:49

But Lucy Connelly is? Kneecap told people to kill their MPs. Why have they not been arrested.

(To be very clear, I do not condone violence of any kind towards anyone, I'm just asking as this seems like a double standard, can someone explain?)

'Many members of the IDF, Israeli politicians and West Bank settlers can be clearly seen in various kinds of footage inciting hatred, wishing death on Palestinians and expressing a desire to wipe them off the map.Sure, none of them are rappers though'

But Israel and hamas are in a conflict they of course are going to say unpleasant things about each other.

We are talking about people who have nothing to do with it using their platform as 'entertainers' to spout incendiary crap which could incite hatred and violence.

none of us has ‘nothing to do with it’ and a band playing internationally has every right to comment

They weren't just commenting on it, they were openly supporting terrorist groups.

Actually- you’re completely wrong- Kneecap don’t have “every right” to say what they said .

The Village one last year had “all taigs are targets” on it.

The thuggery and hate speech of the 12th July is also vile I agree.

Are you ready to unequivocally condemn Hamas yet? You seem to lack understanding, and more worryingly are sympathetic to a terrorist organisation due to a misunderstanding if the history.

Psychoticbreak · 02/05/2025 19:27

In other news Gerry Adams wont have to sit in a witness box till next Tuesday although we may not have heard much about it with them silly boys in kneecap having had comments flung about a couple of years back taking the news over instead.

What on earth are you talking about? Where have I, where has anyone, on this thread said anything about supporting Hamas? I asked for evidence of this days ago and no one has provided any yet. Give it a rest.

You have repeatedly refused to condemn them, and used language that appears to justify their behaviour. You should be ashamed of yourself. Terrorist supporters are not welcome here.

He/she won’t. They’ll just keep on with the faux ‘what are you talking about? 😄’ every time you ask, rather than just saying ‘yes I condemn them’.

In the absence of anyone criticising or condemning them we can all draw our own conclusions on where they stand without them having to actually say it. Because of course, if one doesn't support Hamas why not just come out and say so?

Imustgetupsoon · 03/05/2025 11:13

I absolutely don’t support Hamas, or any terrorists.

I may not have mentioned that upthread though.

Does that mean others may have come to the conclusion that I do actually support them?

How odd. I mean, what a stretch!

Not necessarily, if you're twisting, turning, evading and deflecting and doing anything you can to avoid answering a simple question when asked then people will wonder

I’m actually embarrassed for you.
Literally nobody has said that they support Hamas, or any other terrorist organisations here.

if you’re on this thread to support Kneecap and you fail to condemn Hamas and or Kneecap’s “Up Hamas “ comments it’s not much of a stretch for others to suspect you’re a terrorist supporter.

Be careful. You will be asked to provide us with a list of absolutely everything that you don’t support which could take you a while. Otherwise we will have to assume you support it.

Just because someone believes that someone else shouldn’t go to prison for saying words, does not mean that they wholeheartedly agree with those words.

I mean, I thought the guy that called for all his mates to burn down the hotels on FaceBook was a complete idiot and disagreed with his entire sentiment. I do not believe he should have been imprisoned for it.

You’re creating a false dichotomy.

You know you can tell a lot about people from the things they don't say as much as what they do. Especially on a thread about people openly supporting terrorists. It's called reading between the lines.

No - I don’t think Kneecap should go to prison ( and I’ve said so on here ) I think their comments should be condemned - by their fans as well as non supporters.
Other posters have defended Kneecap by deflecting ( talking about the situation in Palestine as if that makes it ok to say “up Hamas”)

Gloriia · 03/05/2025 16:41

One good thing to have come from it is they've backtracked totally.

So while yes we all saw the footage re hamas and hezbollah they seem to be denying it. Those 'silly lads' have been silenced and can just go back to crap rap.

I doubt we'll see a 'fuck Israel' at Glastonbury.

This thread wasn’t about whether people support Kneecap or what they said.
Rather if people thought they should serve prison time for it.

Which is quite different.

PollyPaintsFlowers · 03/05/2025 16:44

Imustgetupsoon · 03/05/2025 16:36

Or called jumping to conclusions.

And that's why questions are asked so we can make sure we're reaching the right conclusion.

It's basic communication skills, it's hard to believe people can't grasp this.

Imustgetupsoon · 03/05/2025 16:53

Accusing people of openly supporting terrorists is “basic communication skills“?🤔
