Personalised number plates - cringey?

Inspired by the mum I see most mornings on the school run. Range Rover, personalised plate, leggings tucked into white socks - I’m sure you know the type!

Anyway, personalised number plates - yay or nay?

I have just remembered a VW van one of the pricey ones (obviously LOADS ‘richer’ than me of course) been behind him a few times lately has some kind of concoction that vaguely states “YES I SURF”

As if someone was asking the question

Surely by that you also think that people buying flashy new cars are also shallow?
Some people buy branded clothes that cost a lot of money. Are they also cringey and shallow? Going on an expensive foreign holiday, is that cringey or shallow?

People can choose to spend their money however they want. I can’t imagine being remotely bothered by someone’s purchases if it’s not harming me or anyone else.

Life is short. If people want to buy a personalised reg, then good for them.

My personalised number plate is PR05 LEG which cost £299 and, yes, I am an amputee.

I can see the point when it's a company car and the plate is used for extra advertising.
Personal ones - I don't really get it but I don't have any special hatred of them.

I just think you’re very very wrong that everyone buys them to impress others: I work in the car industry and while there are a great number of rich wankers who like to show off, they’re outnumbered by people who just love everything and anything about cars, and who love and breathe every little detail of them.

For a lot of them, they save for years to get a project car, and spend many more years rebuilding it by hand, down to the smallest detail. Why wouldn’t they include a reg that makes them smile while they’re at it?

My “arguments” are shit lol.
I have the personal opinion that PNs are tacky and cringey, just like the majority of other people. It’s what the thread is about.

You don’t have to agree with my opinion; lighten up. But understand that most people also think it’s tacky and cringey, that’s all, and you do you!

If you read my post it notes that opinions on PNPs being tacky is quite a normal thing.

Nor is it for no reason because we can all like, dislike, think something is tacky or naff for whatever personal reason we have.
I don’t like people dripping in diamonds and gold for example, I think it’s tacky
I don’t like electronic gates in the countryside, another tacky one.

People can do what they like just as much as others can think their taste is cras and tacky. We don’t all have to Love everything everyone does and we can’t go about our lives with our eyes closed.
