Since the ruling that biological sex matters I've been reading more and more. Every day.

To my shame, I didn't really follow the issue or consider it before. The more I read, the more horrified I am at how women who've been campaigning have been treated by society, by TRA activists, by other women and even on mumsnet hidden in a corner in sex and feminism.

JK Rowling having rape and death threats for sharing her concerns. Women being cancelled. This is an every women and every girl issue.

With the rise in toxic masculinity and misogyny in schools and society we all need to talk about this more.

Well done to those that did the talking and campaigning for the safety of all women.

Abusive male people with transgender identities don’t use threats of violence just on reddit. It is across all platforms and real life.

That website keating linked highlights a mere fraction.

There is no fucking symmetry at all. Yet those male people get a mere hand wave and told they are not representative. So just more double standards.

Believe me, we’ve all done that too. Getting threatened with rape by men on Twitter does that to you, and makes you impatient with hyperbole when posters don’t like your tone. Perhaps you should take a look at some of the shit GC women get.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/04/2025 22:32

Also, what gave you the idea that you can both scold women for rudeness and be rude to them at the same time? Cake and eat it.

I’m completely unapologetic @Ponypuff- take it or leave it. I’m not going to walk on eggshells around anyone. And that goes for all the other Tone Police too. If you don’t like what I say, don’t engage with me.

You appear to just want an argument. I’m not interested though.

"Now look what you've made me do". I'm sure none of the women here have never heard that defence before.

congrats @ImConfusedDotComHelp - It's great you're engaging with it now. You're right - it's so important.

Are you starting to talk to people about it in real life too? Men and women? I've found it fascinating what other people think and especially the men seemed to think things were very different.

I think the more we all talk about it, the easier it will become to create a country that is beginning to support women and girls again.

I mentioned to my sil. She works for NHS. Said she thinks we should allow trans to use female toilets, changing rooms etc. I pointed out that majority of men still have penis and testicles and imagine your daughter seeing that at swimming, she was shocked thought trans 'women' had meant had the lot off. I think many of us go along in life ignoring it all to be kind.

Finding out the realities, the danger, seeing the placards, men pinching medals from women is waking more of us up to it.

What is transphobic about wanting women's rights protected? I can't understand why all women wouldn't want to have their rights protected. Surely you have mothers, sisters, daughters in your life as well as yourself who want to feel safe and have safeguarding in place. There is nothing anti -trans about wanting to protect our rights. Trans people have lost nothing because they didn't have those rights (to encroach on single sex spaces) to begin with. The fact that we had to fight to protect what was already ours is crazy. And the fact that the brave women who spoke out about it are called 'anti-trans' and abuse is hurled at them is deplorable. I just don't get why some women are completely missing the point and actually joining in on this rhetoric.
I think it's good that we are discussing this and more people are hearing all sides. I think we will look back on this and think it's all so obvious. Of course women should have the right to single sex spaces. Of course that should be based on biological sex. Of course it's not possible to change biological sex. Calling someone 'anti-trans' is just a way to silence them. Finally women will be able to speak more freely. Please stop putting down women on this topic and please realise it is for your benefit that this law exists. Trans people are still protected under the equality law.

You really are hate filled towards people who speak in biological reality.

That is really vile and hate filled. Promoting violence towards women from people who suggest they are vulnerable. Eyes wide open here now.

Gosh yes, death threats to women are so boring aren't they?

Especially when you're trying to scold women for standing up for their rights. How dare they bring this up again?

Pony is right, though, and I brought this up yesterday and never received an answer. What do trans reddits have to do with how women treat each other on FWR? Why should they influence your behaviour to such a degree?

What happens on MN when a poster is abusive?

What do you think constitutes 'abusive'? Can you give some examples?

It just seems extraordinary to be focusing in on the posters on here, when such appalling things are being said to GC women in the wider world. I'm guessing you don't frequent Reddit and give your opinion on their treatment of GC women there?

So can you share some examples of this abuse you are seeing on here? It would be useful to understand exactly what you mean.
