Why were trans threads hidden?

Since the ruling that biological sex matters I've been reading more and more. Every day.

To my shame, I didn't really follow the issue or consider it before. The more I read, the more horrified I am at how women who've been campaigning have been treated by society, by TRA activists, by other women and even on mumsnet hidden in a corner in sex and feminism.

JK Rowling having rape and death threats for sharing her concerns. Women being cancelled. This is an every women and every girl issue.

With the rise in toxic masculinity and misogyny in schools and society we all need to talk about this more.

Well done to those that did the talking and campaigning for the safety of all women.

This, the goading has been insufferable the last few days.
It is the equivalent of Brexit for the racists.

“Brexit for the racists” We lease don’t tell me you think Brexit was about racism.

It’s really not just “GC posters” who are rude. Look in the mirror, you’re not particularly polite yourself. That’s fine, but don’t presume to hold me or other women to a higher standard.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/04/2025 21:49

Also, sorry you find threats of male violence towards women so unutterably tedious @Ponypuff

Maybe it was the fact that a woman called Jordan Gray 'he'. I mean any person who took such great delight in playing the piano with their penis on national television should be centred and be called 'she' surely?

She made it quite clear how many women experienced Gray’s mediocre little “turn” on prime time TV. He’s vile.

Gosh yes, death threats to women are so boring aren't they?

Especially when you're trying to scold women for standing up for their rights. How dare they bring this up again?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/04/2025 21:52

Yes, it’s terribly inconvenient @TheKeatingFive

And do you also agree that women being raped in not large numbers is ok?

A lot of them on Mumsnet certainly do lack empathy. Or at least empathy for trans people.

Where are transwomen's empathy for females? Why do you feel females should have empathy for males who are violating our spaces and boundaries?

I’ve hidden all the feminist topics because they might as well have been named the transphobia topics.

The need for some women to make every thread into an anti trans issue has become tedious. And while it can be argued that the ruling is a positive in some senses, it is just going to lead to more transphobia and hatred of the trans community.

There is an awful lot of wrong on both sides of the discussion.

Agree with this.

I actually got deleted for mentioning at the time that I was appalled at Jordan stripping naked on Friday night live and playing the piano with his penis and saying that I thought it seemed like exhibitionist behaviour at the very least.

Of course it was completely applauded at the time as stunning and brave.

congrats @ImConfusedDotComHelp - It's great you're engaging with it now. You're right - it's so important.

Are you starting to talk to people about it in real life too? Men and women? I've found it fascinating what other people think and especially the men seemed to think things were very different.

I think the more we all talk about it, the easier it will become to create a country that is beginning to support women and girls again.

Oh I doubt it.
The only hate is coming from the TRA side.

Name one 'transphobic' post on here.

Womens rights isn't 'transphobic'. If it is, trans rights are femphobic and misogynist.

I think many a thread and post was deleted on the topic.

it was appalling that people treated it as brave and stunning.

FYI, prior to this ruling, many activist groups had been campaigning, for several years, to have sex removed from the EA as a protected characteristic. If sex isn't a protected characteristic, there are no women-only services, no women-only groups, no guarantee of same sex provision and no women's sports. This is, as far as I am aware, the first time in history that a minority group has tried to assert its rights as requiring the removal of rights from another group. Maybe think about that? A campaign for rights that demands that another group loses theirs? This is why this ruling was so important. Oh, and for the avoidance of doubt, defending hard-won women's rights is not transphobia. I was very active on Twitter on this subject for a long time. I've had rape threats, death threats, attempts to have social services take my children from me, attempts to have me sacked, and an attempted home invasion. But yeah, I'm the big bad transphobe.

Why on earth does the issue of male violence against women provoke a response of 'Not this again 🙄'

Could you be anymore clear that women don't matter? Absolutely shocking

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/04/2025 22:23

There seem to be a few posters who don’t care for the tone of this board but seem to think it’s both their right and duty to scold women here and talk to them like something they just scraped off their shoe, and then be mortally offended when we either ignore it or give it right back with both barrels. It’s very tedious and predictable.

I think that the TRA and males who are violating women's spaces are not actually authentic trans people - they just use trans ideology for their own purpose.

I have an autistic teen DS who is struggling with his gender. And when I have asked for support on here there has been a number of people that have been quite nasty. Normal people like my DS have lots of empathy for women. My DS is fully in favour of women having their own spaces. He deserves empathy to for his struggles that have had devastating effects on his mental health.
