Why were trans threads hidden?

Since the ruling that biological sex matters I've been reading more and more. Every day.

To my shame, I didn't really follow the issue or consider it before. The more I read, the more horrified I am at how women who've been campaigning have been treated by society, by TRA activists, by other women and even on mumsnet hidden in a corner in sex and feminism.

JK Rowling having rape and death threats for sharing her concerns. Women being cancelled. This is an every women and every girl issue.

With the rise in toxic masculinity and misogyny in schools and society we all need to talk about this more.

Well done to those that did the talking and campaigning for the safety of all women.

Gosh... you must be right.

Writing this in response to what I and others have explained as our experiences for female toilet usage is not you saying 'I had a fetish' at all..... "What an odd discussion. It sounds almost like you are fetishising women’s toilets and what women do in there."

Silly me. Oh.. yes.. you got there first 'No, your comprehension seems poor.'. But not an intellectual slight or jeer.

But, please do tell me more about how you have been treated on threads.

I missed that. Wow.

I’ve hidden all the feminist topics because they might as well have been named the transphobia topics.

The need for some women to make every thread into an anti trans issue has become tedious. And while it can be argued that the ruling is a positive in some senses, it is just going to lead to more transphobia and hatred of the trans community.

There is an awful lot of wrong on both sides of the discussion.

Name changing: that thing some people do occasionally that they are allowed to do and I do for security reasons. 🙏

What has name changing go to do with it?

But hey, my username get posted as an example of hateful behaviour on MN by posters who see no issue with targeting a specific poster. I choose not to name change but I do know that sometimes those who do like to make examples by naming and shaming who don't. It is convenient when that happens and person making the accusation is a name changer.

And yes, that is a general point I am making, not aimed at anyone. And yes, of course you and others are allowed to change names and to post in any way that you wish. I have not said that you should not do either.

Willyoujustbequiet · 22/04/2025 10:12

The pro women threads should be wherever gets the most traffic on a supposedly pro women site.

Helleofabore · 22/04/2025 10:14

And gosh

"So you do remember or you don’t? You were attempting to imply something or you weren’t?"

Hectoring? Oh.. that is right... you got there too. and no jeering tone to this one either.

That you’re both biased towards your own position and apparently don’t see when posters you approve of are disrespectful and try to shut women down?

Yes. It is remarkable how some posters will agree with posters directly and enthusiastically and not realise that the poster they are agreeing with has just been deleted.

You’re going there again. Okay. The “you” in the sentence above was a general ‘you’, not specific. The other clue is the word “discussion” that indicates a number of posters, not one. This was explained to you in that thread but you decided to take umbrage, of course. Any tiny perceived slight on you is !!!!! but it’s fine to do it to other people regularly.

Couleur · 22/04/2025 11:14

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/04/2025 10:05

No, I didn’t specifically say that poster did. I referenced you both as ignoring posters you agreed with who did 🙄

I’m sorry, this makes no sense to me.

Edited

By hectoring, I mean many posters peppering a single poster with hostile questions at once, with the intent of scaring them off the thread.

The above? They’re questions. At the time, you were trying to imply something nasty about me, if I recall, and attempting the “I don’t remember” defence.

But discussion of trans isn’t allowed to be a general discussion.
You’re either transphobic or you’re flamed for not being.
nobody is allowed to be anything but transphobic on MN. This is why Barclays and Ocado want nothing to do with them.
People have become so far intrenched in the whole single sex spaces argument that they have lost sight of the fact that they have become bigots.
Let’s be honest here, how many women are being raped by trans women? Genuinely? Because it certainly isn’t anything near a large number, but as soon as it happens once the whole trans community is blamed.
Trans people have existed for an eternity. There have always been trans men and women, for as long as I remember.

Oh show me where women punched, spat on, smoke bombed, intimidated, threatened or assaulted trans people with liquid?

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 22/04/2025 11:28

JellySaurus · 20/04/2025 18:57

If you don't want to call someone "she" then don't

If only it was that simple. Because of your obsessive hiding from the subject, you are clearly unaware that women who were physically assaulted by men have been required to refer to their attacker as 'she' in court. While under oath to speak only the truth, these women were instructed by the judge to lie. In 2018 Maria Maclachlan was assaulted by a trans-identified man. He was found guilty of the assault, but because Maria was penalised by the judge because she referred to him by accurate masculine pronouns instead of using 'she'.

Exactly. Also, how thick-witted to blether on with an ill-formed opinion about something that you've decided you will not read and in consequence, know nothing about. Stupid is the word that covers that one but why anybody would be so proud to display that ignorance is beyond comprehension.

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 22/04/2025 11:29

Pinned a dead rat on their door - remember that one?

Yes. It was one of the first things that woke me up that it's just a woman hating movement.

Men, pinned a dead rat on the door of Vancouver rape relief and scrawled threatening messages all over the windows. All because they tried to keep just ONE centre for females only.

Absolutely shameful. These vicious vindictive men in dresses then had VRR funding removed.

It was a general post about a pattern that we see regularly enough to call it a pattern.

Helleofabore · 22/04/2025 12:39

"Oh show me where women punched, spat on, smoke bombed, intimidated, threatened or assaulted trans people with liquid?"

There is no symmetry. However, those people who appear to feel that they are the moderate people, across MN, social media and media, even politicians have done this, falsely equate the vile acts that extreme activists do and actually get away with as being 'as bad as' women who use precise and accurate language, point out established scientific facts and those women who just say 'no'.

There is no symmetry. I think it could be viewed as an act of misogyny for that comparison to be drawn.

And when you see it, you really can't unsee it.

Women you need to speak in the expected way or we cannot hear you properly. Don't swear. Show proper respect to the male person you are talking about. Don't respond to being shamed (collectively or individually) by others. We also need to own the blame for being hurtful so we should accept being told we are hateful and responsible for the harm to a marginalised group. And at all times you should be interesting and kind and gentle.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/04/2025 12:58

Yes, all of that.
