Trans protest- sharing for balance

Tandora · 20/04/2025 11:47

There’s a thread sharing some really awful images from the protest, so I wanted to share some positive ones for the sake of some perspective/ balance.
A lot of people are really understandably incredibly angry and overwhelmed by the events of the last few days. But most people who support trans rights absolutely don’t condone fighting oppression and injustice with misogyny.

Yeah, because they have breast tissue and massive doses of estrogen. It's self inflicted.

Self inflicted? Wtf!! Men can get breast cancer, not only trans women! My God what an uneducated and rotten comment

And, out of interest, where has the load of bollocks come from that is “predatory men are the problem, not TW” come from?

Have they not seen the offence rate of TW? Barely a week goes by without another being found guilty of some sex crime or other.
I’m not accusing all TW of this, but at the same time I’m not doing the TRA dance avoiding all of the offences.

Have a look at Transcrimeuk.com if you don’t believe me.

I remember a period of time where there were a great many TW informing policies, creating public art, training police, being a vocal part of the Labour Party etc, and one by one every single one was found to be guilty of something really bad, like paedophilia, or having committed domestic violence pre-transitioning, or behaving really badly towards women. Ripx4nutmeg on Twitter (if still there) used to keep track of this.

But if you show these crime statistics you’re accused of basically being Hitler - for being a woman who does not want to share vulnerable spaces with MEN. I mean, fuck off with that shit. Have some loyalty to fucking women!!

This here.

Orangeandpurpletulips · 20/04/2025 15:17

Exactly. That's what they think, so why wouldn't they? Recent events have provoked them into dropping the mask.

Many activists enjoy this aspect. And they like getting attention. It’s a power trip, often.

Science doesn't lie. A simple blood test can confirm a persons sex. It is a scientific fact.

I do find it a very difficult debate. On one hand I do want Trans people to live their truth and love as they want. A lot of trans women I have seen online sharing their views would not be someone I would even register as potentially not being female if I saw the in a woman's toilet. So I think a lot of trans women will still be able to use the women's toilets.

However I do believe that protection needs to be given to women and girls in female spaces. I was horrified to read the article about the woman who was raped in a hospital ward was told it could not have happened as there were no men on the ward. It's absolute madness this happened. You may say that is only one example, but one is enough for me. The fact is I would not feel comfortable sending my daughter into use a woman's bathroom or changing room of a person with a penis was there. Regardless of how they identify.

But transwomen do deserve safe spaces. They absolutely should be provided the same safeguarding as women but not at the expense of women. We will have to see how that will evolve now that the law has been made clear.

This is insane

Hospital says patient wasn't raped because alleged attacker was transgender

The incident has drawn attention to the impact of self-ID in hospitals and other institutions like the police with Baroness Nicholson of Winterbourne calling on Westministers Lords to scrap it.

pirateshirt · 20/04/2025 15:20

I don't understand why, if transwomen are women, TRA defaced a statue of Millicent Fawcett, a woman who campaigned for women's rights, given the fact it is only because of women like her they even have (being women, you say) the vote, among many other basic rights that were long-denied.

afig · 20/04/2025 15:20

You'll never convince me that a male can become a woman. There are only males and females, and only females cand be women. I'm sorry if that hurts someone's feelings.

People can dress as they like, adopt whatever mannerisms they like, but it can't change the fact that men aren't women. That means they can't (or shouldn't) have access to spaces reserved for females. If they find that hurtful, that's too bad. Frankly, even if they believe it's dangerous for them, that's too bad. It's still not sufficient reason to take over female-only spaces, competitions, etc.

Why are trans activists so fucking racist?

And transwomen are men.

cardibach · 20/04/2025 15:20

Tandora · 20/04/2025 13:26

Every single person who says that trans women are men for one.

That’s not logical. They are a subset of the group ‘men’. It’s not saying you don’t want flautists to exist if you say they are orchestral musicians. They can be both.

Minuethippo · 20/04/2025 15:21

andtheworldrollson · 20/04/2025 14:33

If you look at the number of transgender people in the prison population I think you might revise your opinions of how much a threat these people are

last year a girl got into the car of a “woman” because she though the woman would be safe
the girl was abducted
lucjiky she managed to alert the police whilst he slept

so don’t tell me transowmen never harm anyone

ghey harm women at the same rate as any if he type of man

Let’s see the stats for your last comment please? Reference please

I think that someone already posted the stats above.

ETA They were certainly posted several times on a similar thread yesterday.

andtheworldrollson · 20/04/2025 15:21

Has OP gone to research a definition of woman that makes any sense to anyone other than “because o say so”?

literallyarabbit · 20/04/2025 15:22

MyNameIsX · 20/04/2025 15:10

Why did TRA’s vandalise the Millicent Fawcett statue?

Because it's a statue, so can't defend itself.

Because MF was a suffragette and feminist who helped women become emancipated and allowed to vote.

Because TRAs hate women (or anyone, but mostly women) who say no to them.

Because most TRAs are MRAs who hate women.

Flybee · 20/04/2025 15:22

AndImBrit · 20/04/2025 12:04

But PP is not wrong.

Not all men are predators, but we still have women’s only spaces because we can’t identify predatory men from non predatory men.

I’m happy to switch out the word “men” with “people with penises” as that’s broadly what I mean.

So we need spaces where no people with penises are allowed, as people with penises are statistically more dangerous and so they should be kept apart.

Trans women are part of the more dangerous subsection of society, and offending rates are the same in trans women as they are in men. So they need to be treated the same as men. And so non predatory trans women should be treated in the same way as non predatory men.

Predatory biological men are the problem. Biological men and not cis men, so that includes trans women. Not all trans women, but also not all men.

And actually, transwomen are five times more likely to be imprisoned for sexual offences than men.

Tiswa · 20/04/2025 15:23

Cancer is an interesting one - DH got tested for the BRCA gene because he has a Jewish grandmother (and the BRCA gene disproportionally affects them) and the differences between the implications of he had it versus his female cousins was stark. Thankfully he didn’t have it

@Tandora how do you define women then - because you don’t believe biological sex is binary and you don’t believe in the female brain so what makes someone a woman to you?

anon666 · 20/04/2025 15:23

Okay so both of the transwomen I know personally are a neighbour and a family member.

They are both also sex offenders.

I know the plural of anecdote isn't data. But still, this graph rings true. 😔

My daughters have both been converted to the trans rights cause. TWAW etc. It's caused huge rifts.

I have six second cousins who are trans men. They're all autistic.

I find it very hard not to identify with some of the statistics and research put there, whilst wanting to protect marginalised people. But I will not simply listen to a vested interest group and blindly follow what they say.

Scentbird · 20/04/2025 15:24

@Tandora to the SC ruling wasn’t clear?

So what was the protest for? What were the TRAs protesting against?

Surely that whole protest wasn’t just because some women (you claim not that many) have an opinion.

You think that’s normal behaviour? Doing all the horrendous things they did at the protest. Because some women have an opinion they don’t like? Where did the devastation come from then?

and I may have missed it, but who are the predatory men the sign is talking about in your first post?

Also, if you indulge in whataboutery wrt sources.

NotmeMother · 20/04/2025 15:25

Why did Transdora go away when the other Transwomen came to speak?

AnSolas · 20/04/2025 15:27

Tandora · 20/04/2025 13:35

Trans people need to be recognised for who they are. Not othered and outed every time they need to use a basic public facility

Everybody has right to access public facilities from hospitals to education to public toilets but with the right comes a responsibility to abide with the social contract.

In the UK that social contract has the backing of legislation voted on by elected members of parliament which says that single sex spaces must be split by sex ( so either for women or for men) and the other sex has no righ of access.

SeedyHotel · 20/04/2025 15:27

@Tandora re it being a complex situation.

Have you heard of Occam’s razor?

So in this situation what’s more likely - humans have found a way to magically change sex but there’s no scientific way of detecting this change, but the person says they have and demands the rest of the world agrees.
Or
Trans women are men.

Which one would you bet your last pound on?

There is nothing female about TW. I don’t even want to call them women in any part any more because they’ve created so much upheaval, trauma and heartache for so many women, in a way that any real woman just wouldn’t do.

Outing to those who know me but I'm Jewish and have the mutations on BCRA1 and BRCA2, something that's actually quite rare. 1 in 40 Ashkenazi Jews carry the BCRA mutation, as do Eastern Europeans, although at a lower rate. (The rate is Sephardi Jews is much lower). Most of the women in my family have died of breast or ovarian cancer, and the men of pancreatic, another common cancer for those with a BCRA mutation.

Glad your DH is ok!
