Trans protest- sharing for balance

1000 replies

Tandora · 20/04/2025 11:47

There’s a thread sharing some really awful images from the protest, so I wanted to share some positive ones for the sake of some perspective/ balance.
A lot of people are really understandably incredibly angry and overwhelmed by the events of the last few days. But most people who support trans rights absolutely don’t condone fighting oppression and injustice with misogyny.

You talk about transpeople being erased, what about (some) transwomen and TRAs wanting to erase women as a class. That's what they're doing.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 20/04/2025 14:49

Tandora · 20/04/2025 14:47

Same thing

Nope, as the Supreme Court made perfectly clear. Biological male people, even with GRCs, are not considered women under the Equality Act.

Tandora · 20/04/2025 14:48

I see you are arguing amongst yourselves. It’s almost like bodies, biology and medicine is complicated isn’t it?

Edited

How about you start with commonalities between women and trans women?

And the biological differences between men and trans women?

aylis · 20/04/2025 14:50

There's a concept in feminism called the 'male identified woman' - it's got nothing to do with trans identities but is about women who value and privilege the male perspective above all others. Just saying.

Biology really isn’t that complicated.
If only the trans community listened in class they wouldn’t be so confused now and we could all stop putting up with these delusional arguments.

blah blah

DFOD. Both sexes are human beings and share some features. That does NOT mean men can change sex.

ThisFluentBiscuit · 20/04/2025 13:10

Bravo! This, exactly. This is a sensible, balanced viewpoint.

@ThisFluentBiscuit
Lets look at you as a jury member for a criminal trial or a civil case for damages...

A woman comes into A&E and tells the admission/nursing staff member she want a woman doctor and another woman chaperone for an exam.

There are 4 doctors on staff :
A) female who classes herself as a woman
B) female who classes herself as a transman
C) male who classes himself as a man
D) male who classes himself as a transwoman.

The there are 4 chaperones on staff :
E) female who classes herself as a woman
F) female who classes herself as a transman
G) male who classes himself as a man
H) male who classes himself as a transwoman.

Its a such a quiet night that all 8 individuals are having a teabreak together when the admissions individual comes in and says one woman doctor and one woman chaperone is needed as the woman said she wanted a woman doctor and a woman chaperone.

Question 1
Would you class these individuals (evil or good) if they carried out the exam?
A) female who classes herself as a woman
B) female who classes herself as a transman
C) male who classes himself as a man
D) male who classes himself as a transwoman.

Question 2
What about how you would class these 4 chaperones ( evil or good) if they act as chaperones for each of the doctors?
E) female who classes herself as a woman
F) female who classes herself as a transman
G) male who classes himself as a man
H) male who classes himself as a transwoman.

Question 3
How about the other doctors ( evil or good ) if they see the other doctors carry out the exam should they have a duty to speak out?

.
Question 4
How about the other doctors ( evil or good ) if they see the chaperones chaperone should they have a duty to speak out?

Question 5
How about the other chaperones ( evil or good ) if they see the doctor carry out the exam should they have a duty to speak out?
.

Question 6
How about the other chaperones ( evil or good ) if they see the other chaperones chaperone should they have a duty to speak out?

Should any criminal or civil liability land on any of the 8 individuals or the hospital?

CheeseeesyWotsits · 20/04/2025 14:43

We all know why, why ask the question?

Reading the op’s posts I’d be interested in why.

Just for that sports grouping.

TheCatsTongue · 20/04/2025 14:51

The thing with toilets is that they are very much designed for the biological and physical differences between the sexes.

A urinal is useless to a woman and very few FtMs have had surgery for it to be of use to them either. Urinals aren't in women's toilets because women do not have penises.

Men's toilets do not provide sanitary bins for period products, because men do not have periods.

In Thailand the trans population (MtF) use the men's toilets without any issue.

Every time I read this statement I feel like it’s the equivalent of someone telling me that The Moon is actually an Iranian Space Station and expecting me to accept that and still take them seriously because they both make about as much sense as the other i.e absolutely none.

But PP is not wrong.

Not all men are predators, but we still have women’s only spaces because we can’t identify predatory men from non predatory men.

I’m happy to switch out the word “men” with “people with penises” as that’s broadly what I mean.

So we need spaces where no people with penises are allowed, as people with penises are statistically more dangerous and so they should be kept apart.

Trans women are part of the more dangerous subsection of society, and offending rates are the same in trans women as they are in men. So they need to be treated the same as men. And so non predatory trans women should be treated in the same way as non predatory men.

Predatory biological men are the problem. Biological men and not cis men, so that includes trans women. Not all trans women, but also not all men.

Sorry if someone has already asked this further down but can you share some evidence to support the claim that trans women have the same rate of offending as men please?

literallyarabbit · 20/04/2025 14:52

Tandora · 20/04/2025 14:42

Because trans women are women. They are not men.

But how Tandora? How are transwomen women? Explain to me how they are not men. I ask because in order to be a transwoman, you have to be a biological man.

Please explain this to me. Thank you 😘

SeedyHotel · 20/04/2025 14:52

So many of these threads around - TWAW

Please, tell me how???
No one has managed to explain this in the 10+ years I’ve been following this, we’re just expected to suck it up (pun intended as a nod to the cotton ceiling) and go along with it.

How on earth do any of you think they’re oppressed? Women are literally more in danger from TW than they are from us. In fact TW commit rape and sexual assault at a higher rate than other men (possibly because when stonewall changed the definition of trans they included men with fetishes as TW, and male paraphilias go hand in hand with crime).

This must be one of the biggest mass brainwashing events there’s ever been!
I can understand men going along with this, they have their sick little bro code that means they tend to make excuses for each other. But women? I will never forgive the women who’ve brainlessly bent over and allowed women to be royally shafted for the sake of a bunch of men who want to be seen as women?

Please make this make sense.

From your lofty heights of medical superiority, what is complicated biologically speaking about any of this? Only a tiny percentage of people are born intersex. The rest of it is a notion, a feeling, or a belief, not a bodily reality.

BundleBoogie · 20/04/2025 14:53

Tandora · 20/04/2025 13:04

This is not true. The UN only last year (2024) adopted an international resolution on the rights of intersex people using the language of intersex. Please stop assuming consensus on subjects in which there is none and please stop spreading false information about subjects you clearly don’t understand .

Edited

Just because the UN have adopted activist language about a medical condition when the sufferers actually affected have repeatedly asked them not to doesn’t make that language suddenly acceptable.

They have also redefined the sex category of woman to include men which is equally incorrect.

Which other group that has requested you don’t use terms they find offensive are you so happy to ignore?

Alondra · 20/04/2025 14:53

VickyEadieofThigh · 20/04/2025 14:40

I certainly wasn't. But stating that trans-identifying men - because they're men - don't get breast cancer isn't true. That the instances of male breast cancer are far fewer than those of female doesn't mean the original statement was true.

My original statement was right considering global statistics for breast cancer. It affects 99% of women and the few males affected are because of an extraordinarily rare mutation gene, or most likely, for received radio therapy for another health issue.

I still find unbelievable you are so quick to point out trans can get breast cancer when 11,200 women died from breast cancer in the UK last year against 85 males.

EasternStandard · 20/04/2025 14:53

Tandora · 20/04/2025 14:49

Yup.

Why would it be the same thing when they explicitly ruled it wasn’t?

Women is biological women, no men. Sex not gender.

Why wouldn’t they? They are men, like other men. By what mechanism do you think they are less likely to sexually assault women?

FlirtsWithRhinos · 20/04/2025 14:53

Tandora · 20/04/2025 14:48

The women’s toilet is one.

No it isn't and never was, as the SC clarified.

Why don't you put your sympathy, energy and concern into actually creating some gender-specific spaces and resources instead of insisting the existing single sex provisions be made over to gender? What's wrong with having both? A "femme-only space" for men who authentically identify as women and women who authentically identfy as cis, and a single sex women-only space for women whose authentic understanding of themselves as women is biological?

Tandora · 20/04/2025 14:54
