Trans protest- sharing for balance

1000 replies

Tandora · 20/04/2025 11:47

There’s a thread sharing some really awful images from the protest, so I wanted to share some positive ones for the sake of some perspective/ balance.
A lot of people are really understandably incredibly angry and overwhelmed by the events of the last few days. But most people who support trans rights absolutely don’t condone fighting oppression and injustice with misogyny.

This doesn’t make any sense. “Sex is not binary” but it literally is. It’s not even an opinion, it’s a fact. Gender is not binary, correct, and you can present however you like whether you’re a man or a woman. But you’re still a man or a woman. I’m actually wondering if a lot of TRAs are illiterate or struggle with reading comprehension?

You are being too literal.

Foxgloverr · 20/04/2025 14:42

@Tandora why do you think that transwomen shouldn't compete in women's sports sections?

Tandora · 20/04/2025 14:42

Snorlaxo · 20/04/2025 14:41

Why doesn’t the phrase “transwomen are women” erase their existence as trans people ?
Why don’t you say that “transwomen are transwomen “ instead ?

Because trans women are women. They are not men.

CheeseeesyWotsits · 20/04/2025 14:42

Trans women are trans women
Women are women
Men are men
Trans men are trans men

Done.

LookingAtMyBhunas · 20/04/2025 14:42

Can you post a link to your other thread OP?

I have repeatedly explained the science behind sex, gender and transness, including posting links to all kinds of research: it is of zero interest to the vast majority of mumsnetters . People are not interested, they have already decided what they believe and they are completely radicalised into that singular viewpoint.

I am interested. Please can you repost?

MyNameIsX · 20/04/2025 14:42

You are born with a penis, you are male.
You are born with a vagina, you are female.

Identify as whoever or whatever you want, but the above is immutable.

The majority are fucked off with pandering to the minority in this world. Respect the facts, and learn to with them, (or don’t). Most of us could not give a shit, so don’t expect any special treatment.

Genuine question but what is your objection to a third and fourth space for both trans men and women of their own.

Because trans people need to be included and integrated into society , not othered and outed and siloed in their engagement with basic public services. It’s totally disproportionate to say that trans people can never participate in gendered spaces in accordance with their gender. This will make society intolerable for the vast majority of trans people.

Exactly what 'gendered' spaces do you mean?

Around the world there are brave people fighting oppression. In Iran, women are killed for refusing to wear a headscarf. In Russia people are sent to gulags for criticising Putin. In Afghanistan, women face death for working as a midwife.

In the UK, we have thousands of furious man children having meltdowns and saying they're being genocided- because they've been told they'll need to use the gent's for a pee.

Statements like this are why people are so angry. You do not understand the harm that you do.

These differences have been explained on any number of threads. I posted a long considered post about this yesterday and only one person cared to respond. You aren’t interested in hearing or understanding. There’s nothing that anyone can explain to someone who takes that attitude.

Edited

Oh the irony of your post, what you're accusing us of is actually what yourself and the trans activists are doing.

Women make up around 50% of the UK population but we're expected to let less than 1% ie trans women so men tell us what a female is and that they can enter any safe space for women.

I was sympathetic to the trans cause when it was about wearing what you want and calling yourself a different name, but not now and not at the expense of actual women.

Have you or any trans activists stopped to wonder why there isn't the same discussion going on about trans men, that's because trans men are not men but women who quietly go about there life without trying to enforce their beliefs on others. What do you think men would have to say about that.

Actual women are not anti-trans, we are just pro-women, there's a difference.

Nanny0gg · 20/04/2025 14:43

Tandora · 20/04/2025 14:42

Because trans women are women. They are not men.

Biologically they are

You can't talk people into a different sex

Spaces aren’t gendered, they are split by sex.

Parent spaces do not other parents and allow parents with opposite sex children to use toilet facilities with comfort and dignity.

pirateshirt · 20/04/2025 14:44

Tandora · 20/04/2025 14:38

If you insist that transwomen are men , you are denying, erasing their existence as trans people. If you organise society on the basis of that belief , and enforce it, you make it impossible for trans people to live as trans people.

Don't be silly. How does me, sitting in my home, fairly certain that transwomen are biologically men make it impossible for any of them to live as trans people?

Sex, as defined as the biological sex you are born with, trumps gender I’m afraid. Gender is indeed a social construct, I agree with that. A woman shouldn’t have to be feminine and a man doesn’t have to be masculine, but sex is immutable and is far more important for myriad reasons than how feminine or masculine you feel in personality or interests. It’s actually completely irrelevant what gender you feel and in perpetuating those gender stereotypes, you’re insulting both the sexes. It’s sex based rights which matter, for very important reasons.

Riaanna · 20/04/2025 14:44

Tandora · 20/04/2025 14:42

Because trans women are women. They are not men.

Take 4. What’s the biological difference between a trans woman and a man?

or the commonalities between a trans man and a woman.

Can’t imagine why you cannot answer this.

Tomatotater · 20/04/2025 14:44

Tandora · 20/04/2025 11:59

Nope. Neither of those statements are remotely misogynistic. so no, you don’t get to reinvent your anti-trans ideology as misogyny.

The pictures that were shared on the other thread were deeply misogynistic and disturbing.

How many of the other people at those protests shouted those people down? Said ' not in our name', took the placards off them? If the majority disagreed then they would have easily been overwhelmed.

SeedyHotel · 20/04/2025 14:44

The healthcare that trans people ask for very much puts them in danger as they want to be treated as the opposite sex, which is all well and good until a transman has a hysterectomy and the surgeon finds a 4 month foetus there.
All well and good until prostate cancer is left untreated because a TW hasn’t been screened, or cervical cancer.

Particularly once known what a waste of space WPATH was, yet the NHS practically rolled over in front of them and capitulated without a second glance.

The whole thing is dangerous and idiotic. The lack of critical thinking from apparently intelligent people is terrifying. And that’s the drs, teachers, mental health care professionals, all people you’d assume to have a reasonable level of intelligence. But nope, all as thick as pig shit when it comes to letting men in women’s spaces. Jesus wept.

And a whole thread to celebrate this when a bunch of feminists were attacked in a very male way? Fucking hell.

You obviously hate women. YABVU.

StepAwayFromGoogling · 20/04/2025 14:44

@Tandora - what is wrong with being a transwoman?? Genuinely. Why can't 'women are women' and 'transwomen are transwomen' be true? Why do you insist that transwomen are women?

FlirtsWithRhinos · 20/04/2025 14:44

Tandora · 20/04/2025 14:25

It erases / denies their existence as a trans person. A society that organises itself around this belief (an transwoman is a man) and enforces it , is a society in which it is impossible for a trans person to live as a trans person.

And a society that organises itself around the belief that womenhood and femaleness is a mental difference rather than a physical one is a society in which the female half of humanity, despite manifestly having challenges and risks that male people do not due to both direct physical differences and due to how society has historically empowered and structured itself around male prriorities, needs and desires and marginalised the priorities, needs and desires of female people, has no existence or voice in law or society as a meaningful group in its own right.

Frankly, I'm with the women (original sex based meaning) on this one.

Tandora · 20/04/2025 14:44

Matronic6 · 20/04/2025 14:43

Spaces that are designated for a specific gender

OP posts:
bunnibee · 20/04/2025 14:44

probably very juvenile of me, but picture 3 placard 'this lesbian says transwomen are women' ok good, what happens if said lesbian gets together with a trans woman, thinking she's a woman, and when they get down to the nitty gritty, she finds herself with a man?

TheCatsTongue · 20/04/2025 14:45

There have been times when I been out and about and the toilets are out of order or there is a very long queue, so therefore I haven't been able to go. I never felt like my existence was denied or that I wasn't suddenly a part of society.
