Trans protest- sharing for balance

1000 replies

Tandora · 20/04/2025 11:47

There’s a thread sharing some really awful images from the protest, so I wanted to share some positive ones for the sake of some perspective/ balance.
A lot of people are really understandably incredibly angry and overwhelmed by the events of the last few days. But most people who support trans rights absolutely don’t condone fighting oppression and injustice with misogyny.

This is not true. The UN only last year (2024) adopted an international resolution on the rights of intersex people using the language of intersex. Please stop assuming consensus on subjects in which there is none and please stop spreading false information about subjects you clearly don’t understand .

Edited

ignorant unscientific language from an organisation who should know better?

The same group who runs an UNwoman twitter posting about gender equality and how gender is a bad social concept?

Another perfect example of trans erasure.

It isn’t. Trans women exist. But they are male.

rubyslippers · 20/04/2025 14:09

Tandora · 20/04/2025 14:07

You want me to say it again?

it’s got nothing to do with your consent.

You don’t get to consent or not to the reality of someone else’s existence

Ooof - there it is
nothing to do with your consent
it absolutely IS!

Waitwhat23 · 20/04/2025 14:09

TheKeatingFive · 20/04/2025 14:08

Ah, women arent permitted consent.

Getting strong incel vibes from that one 🙄

You took the words out my mouth

I'll repeat it again for effect -

'It's got nothing to do with your consent'

Tale as old as time really.

andtheworldrollson · 20/04/2025 14:09

Sorry no - it was quite a while back. Pre 2020 if I had to guess - I have been here forever

i do remember that it came as the initial study and they had to add the bit that pointed out that they were not seeing commonality between women and transwomen but commonality betweeen people with trauma and people without because it was weaponised to “prove” brain similarities between women and transowmen. In fact I think they were looking to find that and had to retract when the paper was reviewed

Scentbird · 20/04/2025 14:09

Tandora · 20/04/2025 14:05

Obviously it depends on the context. For example - the provision of medical services need to be tailored to treat different people’s different bodies

So trans women aren’t women then?

If there’s some instances they can’t be treated as women, they aren’t women.

Riaanna · 20/04/2025 14:10

I think we have a man in our midst.

You want me to say it again?

it’s got nothing to do with your consent.

You don’t get to consent or not to the reality of someone else’s existence

We also don’t have to play along with their so called reality either. Works both ways.

You want me to say it again?

it’s got nothing to do with your consent.

You don’t get to consent or not to the reality of someone else’s existence

And you don’t get to give consent on behalf of all women to share our space with men.

ThatCyanCat · 20/04/2025 14:10

proximalhumerous · 20/04/2025 14:07

If I hear or see one more person proclaiming "trans people exist" (or indeed "exsist") I might lose my shit. Has anyone ever tried to argue that they don't?

Of course not, but when misinformation and exploitation of DSDs, frantic calls upon the Samoan Fa'afafine, bare faced lies and outright threats don't work, the philosophical word salad is all that's left. Hence the "men belong in women's spaces because you don't get to consent to men existing" balderdash.

andtheworldrollson · 20/04/2025 14:10

Transowmen have to be male or they wouldn’t be trans anything

rhe Logic fails are wonderful

FigTreeInEurope · 20/04/2025 14:10

Transition wouldn't be possible without electricity, science and other trappings of modernity. I think the modern world has become so saturated with choice, that some people can't accept that sometimes there isn't a choice. You cannot change your sex, and no amount of science, surgery or tantrums is going to change that. The tone of those protest placards was so similar to incels, horrendous, entitled, immature and full of misogynistic bile.

Another perfect example of trans erasure.

You don't seem the slightest bit concerned that actual born women are being downgraded and effectively erased, their very real concerns ignored and brushed over, and their century-plus hard won rights eroded.

Tandora · 20/04/2025 14:11

aylis · 20/04/2025 14:09

Yeah we heard you, we got it from the start of the thread. We see you.

I don’t know what you mean when you say that but I always find it creepy

No. It’s trans erasure to claim transwomen are women.

Saying trans women are men is acknowledging that’s transwomen exist.

Tandora · 20/04/2025 14:11

People that say women don’t need to consent are the creepiest of all creeps.

SatanicAngel · 20/04/2025 14:12

Tandora · 20/04/2025 11:54

The point is that you are completely wrong about that and it is deeply oppressive to try to enforce policies that say so.

Could you explain the difference between a "cis" (🙄) man and a transwoman?

aylis · 20/04/2025 14:12

Tandora · 20/04/2025 14:11

Another perfect example of trans erasure.

You can’t have your own reality. Well you can try but if you pretend that you’re strolling through beautiful bluebell woods but in truth you’re walking along the M1 then reality is very likely to to make itself known to you in very unpleasant and painful ways because it doesn’t care for your feelings or delusions.

ThatCyanCat · 20/04/2025 14:12

It's how all of us feel every time we see one of your "DSDs erasure men in women's spaces because you don't get to consent to existence horseradish dingle teapot purple" posts.

Alondra · 20/04/2025 14:13

Tandora · 20/04/2025 13:56

I have repeatedly explained the science behind sex, gender and transness, including posting links to all kinds of research: it is of zero interest to the vast majority of mumsnetters . People are not interested, they have already decided what they believe and they are completely radicalised into that singular viewpoint.

Biology is a science. It studies our bodies - genes, molecular structure, organs and ecosystems and how they interact with each other. Male and females not only have different organs but also hormones

A trans woman can't get breast cancer.
A trans woman can't get ovarian cancer
A trans woman can't get cervical cancer
A trans woman doesn't have a vagina
A trans woman doesn't produce eggs
A trans woman doesn't have fallopian tubs
A trans woman can't give birth/have serious health complications from pregnancy or die because of those complications.

A trans woman can get prostate cancer, which biological women will never get.

Enough 101 biology for you?

vandelier · 20/04/2025 14:13

I will not rise to the bait of incel/trans type bigotry towards women. The highest court in the land has spoken. Back in your biological box you go now.

Over and out.

Oh bless you, you are funny 🤣 how do you survive in the real world, do you have a job? Facts are erasure and fascism in your world are they? Where did you learn this nonsense?
