Trans protest- sharing for balance

1000 replies

Tandora · 20/04/2025 11:47

There’s a thread sharing some really awful images from the protest, so I wanted to share some positive ones for the sake of some perspective/ balance.
A lot of people are really understandably incredibly angry and overwhelmed by the events of the last few days. But most people who support trans rights absolutely don’t condone fighting oppression and injustice with misogyny.

I don't usually post about trans. I've met one trans female through work and she was beyond lovely. She identified as a biological male, hating her body because it felt alien to her. She was waiting for surgery and planned to quit work but would let me know when surgery was confirmed, which she did.

She knew she'd need a lot of help and support and wanted to go back with her mom. Her mom have been divorced by then from a beast of a husband.

Aside this personal interaction with a trans, I'm always be cleared that the most militant trans movement have shot themselves in the foot by influencing politics and eroding women's rights so hard fought for many years.

Trans people were/are a minority often discriminated against by governments but had, like with gay marriage, overwhelming women support.

Unfortunately, a hateful trans militant movement have turned women's sympathy to a defence of biological rights. The problem doesn't stop here, there are serious issues in the LGBTQ community regarding transgenders and the pressure people feel in the community for not wanting to partner with them. This is an issue you won't see articles or any news but it's very real in the gay community.

The protesters are protesting a dangerous new variety of fascism that has taken increasing hold of the public discourse and our public institutions

I don’t know anyone except transphobes who talks about the “female brain”.

Recognising, supporting, accepting , including trans people is not misogyny. No matter how many times you say it, it won’t make it true.

Predicating all that on the requirement to replace the female sex with gender identity IS misogyny. I think you know that the 'female brain' is shorthand for the 'wrong body' rhetoric, don't try and swerve it.

You’re demonstrably nowhere near understanding the issues and perspectives you purport to support.

Maybe use this box as a secluded place to study.

Arrrrggggghhhhhhhhh

Sorry that’s me screaming in frustration.

YOU DO UNDERSTAND YOU CANNOT CHANGE YOUR CHROMOSOMES????

Please at least acknowledge this?

At the point of conception every human being is either male or female. You cannot change this. Ever never no matter how much you wish.

This is about so much more than chromosomes. This is very black and white thinking that has very little to do with reality

I will support the trans community in the fight for their own safe spaces, but I won't support them in the fight to deny actual woman their own safe spaces.
If trans "women" are so intent on saying not everyone with a penis is a threat then what's the issue with them using male toilets....after all not everyone with a penis is a threat right?

PonyPatter44 · 20/04/2025 13:34

New fascism is probably like the new woman.... not ENTIRELY the same as the classical, generally-understood version. Do you remember Classic Coke and New Coke?

TheOtherRaven · 20/04/2025 13:34

The black and white thinking going on is quite simply that men have value and importance, and women don't.

That's all.

This man is a clinical psychiatrist with over 20 years clinical experience treating trans patients

It is well worth a watch as he puts the trans position on a clinical footing and makes some very astute observations based on real world experience.

Thank you very much for this; refreshingly calm and yes, in the proper sense, clinical.

Every single person who says that trans women are men for one.

This is utter nonsense. I absolutely do not want to see trans women “erased” but I’m also firmly of the opinion that a woman is an adult human female, sex is binary with occasional anomalies and that single-sex spaces are needed mostly for women’s safety and comfort. I’m going to hazard a guess that most reasonable people feel the same.

ANiceBigCupOfTea · 20/04/2025 13:34

I am absolutely all for people living their lives and being who they want to be. A trans woman has every bit as much right to enjoy her life as I have for mine, but that doesn't mean I'm not worried about single sex spaces and the erosion of womens rights. Nothing has been changed with the legal ruling at all. Trans people are still as protected as they were before because gender identity and reassignment are both protected characteristics under the law, just as sex is.
Trans women are not biological women; they are transwomen. That doesn't mean I think of them as less than or as less deserving of protection or respect.
What's annoying is if you express any level of concern you're a terf, a nazi, a this that or the other.

Trans people need to be recognised for who they are. Not othered and outed every time they need to use a basic public facility

It’s interesting how often the TRA’s use the argument that we are trying to ‘erase’ them. That we don’t want them to exist. That they have a right to self determination.

When their entire argument is that women, as a biological category does not exist. That our biology is not real. That our own self determination and our rights to come together on the basis of our biology somehow ‘reduces’ us to it and that the biological category of woman should be obliterated.

Ok so please tell me what is a transwomen or a transman? If it’s not about chromosomes what is it about?

Educate me I am genuinely open to learning if I’ve got it wrong.

Here is your opportunity to bring over this GC feminist over to your side.

Well, this was posted on this thread today and seems to imply what many of us have seen many times on social media - the suggestion of being "born in the wrong body", which suggests that either there's a belief in the gendered brain OR in the gendered soul...

Trans protest- sharing for balance
Hoppinggreen · 20/04/2025 13:37

I actually think that this ruling is a good thing for Transpeople
The law has been clarified
TW can stop fighting for things they can never get and focus on establishing rights for transpeople that ARE achievable - ie 3rd spaces
Transmen seem to actually matter too for once
Now we know that TW cannot come into women only spaces women can drop their guard a bit and even actually try and help Transpeople (in theory)
Predators can no longer use being Trans as get out of jail (or into a womens jail) free card so it will hopefully stop men who are using their Trans status to get their rocks off or get softer treatment will stop.
This should all mean that genuine TW and TM who just want to live their lives and enjoy the rights they are entitled to can do so more easily now.

I agree with the pp that this is offensive.

So what about the death threats at the protest? The rape threats? The vandalism? The pissing on things? You don’t want us to look at that - you are instructing us to only look at the naice pretty placards. Would you like to condemn the threats @Tandora?

The 'trans' people I know generally fall into a few different categories - the main one being older males with significant distress in relation to their sexed bodies - the people we all thought we were supporting at the beginning of this.

Young women, usually lesbians, identifying as male or 'non binary' for a host of reasons.

And a massive third group who have pissed all over women, pissed all over the work of our foresisters, don't experience dysphoria, have removed the requirement for dysphoria, support unfettered self ID, and are generally just all-round arseholes.
