Trans protest- sharing for balance

1000 replies

Tandora · 20/04/2025 11:47

There’s a thread sharing some really awful images from the protest, so I wanted to share some positive ones for the sake of some perspective/ balance.
A lot of people are really understandably incredibly angry and overwhelmed by the events of the last few days. But most people who support trans rights absolutely don’t condone fighting oppression and injustice with misogyny.

I don’t get what they’re protesting about. The judgement was thoughtful, carefully and compassionately explained; gave clear, helpful examples of both direct and indirect discrimination; and protected the rights of women and of trans people. This is a good thing.

So, what’s not to like? Nothing - unless, of course, the upset is that transwomen are not allowed to breach women’s boundaries.

As for sex, of course it’s binary. There is no third gamete. Sorry, but saying crap like that makes people look stupid. People, trans or not, can look very feminine, very masculine or anything in between, but that’s not sex - it’s gender. A feminine man isn’t a third sex, and nor is a masculine women.

I feel very sorry for the many trans people who just want to get on with their lives in peace; who know their sex very well; who respect women’s rights; and who must be absolutely cringing looking at these protests.

She actually either avoids using the toilets or uses the disabled (which she is entitled to use as she IS disabled) but I do wonder why if I as a woman am in danger from men, why isn’t my friend (who looks very feminine - petite 5’ 4”, nicely made up, good hair, lovely clothes etc.) in danger from men? She honestly feels that it would be dangerous to use the male toilets but she does respect that biological women can be unhappy about her using their spaces. I think it’s a difficult situation.
She doesn’t claim to be a woman incidentally - she describes herself as transgender.

I think the point is that it’s not our problem to solve. Instead of shouting at women about being bigots and trying to force them into moving over, it would have been better to spend the last decade campaigning for third spaces. That didn’t happen of course because the majority of trans identified men want the validation of accessing women’s spaces and a significant number hate women and get off on transgressing their boundaries. Actually I don’t care where your friend pees as long as it isn’t in the women’s.

Every single person who says that trans women are men for one.

Not they aren’t.

Biologically they are men. They are male.

No one is saying they can’t present as women.

Is your comprehension so low?

aylis · 20/04/2025 13:28

Supporting trans people = supporting their right to equal treatment in law and society

Supporting trans people ≠ privileging them above womens rights to equal treatment in law and society

Tandora · 20/04/2025 11:53

I’m in very fine company ❤️‍🔥🌈

Do you have a dialogue with anyone who verbally, through applause or placard, call for the death of ‘TERFS’?

Did you join in with the more unusual chants (depending on location)?

What did you think you were protesting?

EasternStandard · 20/04/2025 13:28

Tandora · 20/04/2025 13:23

Supporting trans people is not misogyny. No matter how many times you say it, it won’t make it true.
You cannot make trans people disappear so this argument will continue.

No one is disappearing. Women just their own sex class and single sex means just women.

Perhaps the male sex class can change their behaviour.

Blondiebeachbabe · 20/04/2025 13:28

And as for the trans women waving aggressive placards :

"tell me you're a man, without telling me you're a man"

FOJN · 20/04/2025 13:28

VeraWangTea · 20/04/2025 13:17

Oh my goodness here we are again….

Why is it so difficult?

@Tandora do you not get that because we are GC does NOT mean we are discriminating against TIM or TIF. We want safety and happiness for them.

BUT not at the expense of safety, happiness and equity for women’s sex based rights.

Im amazed at how TRAs lack some basic analysis and understanding around this topic.

We might as well be having an argument with flat earthers or those who believe dinosaurs didn’t exist.

It really isn't that they don't understand. If safety and dignity was the priority they would campaign for 3rd spaces and most women would support them.

They are angry that they can't use women and access to women's spaces to validate their identity. Having the freedom to call themselves whatever they like and present however they like is not enough, women must agree that they are women too or we are hateful bitches. We don't exist as fully realised human beings to them but as utilities to validate their self perception.

SirRaymondClench · 20/04/2025 13:29

Tandora · 20/04/2025 11:54

The point is that you are completely wrong about that and it is deeply oppressive to try to enforce policies that say so.

You're actually wrong and the law says otherwise.

Also your hurt feelings are of no concern to anyone else, it's not women's role to bend to your will.
Why do you want to get into women's spaces so desperately? If you feel so at threat from men, take it up with them.
Otherwise YOU are the ones trying to make women disappear.

Namechange7598 · 20/04/2025 13:29

what I see is loads of angry men (and some idiot women) furious that men are no longer allowed to gatecrash breastfeeding groups, waltz into women’s shelters full of traumatised victims of male violence, demand rape victims ‘reframe their trauma’ and force them to accept male ‘counsellors’ or be thrown out, perform smears, intimate examinations and other medical procedures on unwilling women, share cells with terrified, trapped women in prison, even if they are rapists, gate crash lesbian social events, and demand venues close them down if they say they don’t want straight men there, close down meetings where women want to discuss violence against women and girls and basically make it impossible for women to have a single male-free space anywhere. Other than that, they can do what they like, wear what they want (with the bounds of decency please) have relationships with anyone who will have them, study and work. Discrimination against them in housing, work etc is illegal. So, do I have ‘sympathy’ for them? Of course not! What they want harms women’s rights and freedoms. This clarification of the law is long overdue.

aylis · 20/04/2025 13:25

Replacing the female sex with the concept of a gender identity ie a 'female brain' is absolutely misogyny in it's purest form.

I don’t know anyone except transphobes who talks about the “female brain”.

Recognising, supporting, accepting , including trans people is not misogyny. No matter how many times you say it, it won’t make it true.

Oh, do get a grip.

Describing a group of women asking the politically neutral Supreme Court to uphold their sex based rights contained in the equal rights legislation introduced by a left wing government and debated and passed into law by a democratically elected parliament as fascism is next level idiocy.

Agreed. To quote fascism is ignorant and offensive.

Every single person who says that trans women are men for one.

Why is that making them "disappear"? They are perfectly entitled to live their lives however they wish to, and good luck to them. They just can't use single-sex spaces and services that are meant for women. This is not the same as making them disappear, and frankly if you think that, there is something wrong with your reading comprehension or possibly your cognitive state.

It is ridiculous and offensive, OP, to suggest that women trying to protect their rights to single sex spaces because of the risks posed to them by men, are even remotely akin to fascism. Whatever point you might have been trying to make is completely negated by such stupid comparisons.

Arrrrggggghhhhhhhhh

Sorry that’s me screaming in frustration.

YOU DO UNDERSTAND YOU CANNOT CHANGE YOUR CHROMOSOMES????

Please at least acknowledge this?

At the point of conception every human being is either male or female. You cannot change this. Ever never no matter how much you wish.

They are protesting against women's sex based rights.

They are protesting fascism.

Edited

The law tells us that men cannot be women and women cannot be men, biology also tells us that, but to you that’s fascism? Do you even understand the basic tenets of fascism? Or do you use it in order to be hyperbolic?
