As per the title - Easter Sunday is off to a dreadful start with ā€˜D’ H and I already having had an argument.

Some background, we have individual insta’s but for any major ā€˜announcements/events’ as such we will use the collaboration feature so the post appears on both our grids. Think engagement, wedding, pregnancy-gender reveal/birth, anniversary etc.

It’s our DD’s first Easter so I’ve got her a brilliant outfit, some props and of course eggs. I’ve also got a personalised sort of sign which says it’s her first Easter.

I said to H I’ll get the photos done after breakfast and we can joint post. He says it’s stupid to do this and doesn’t warrant all the effort as it’s ’only Easter’ so he won’t be putting it on his grid.

AIBU to feel pissed off with him? It will look strange if it’s only on my page.

Blimey 34 pages. I’m sure you’ll be pleased to know we’ve had a lovely first Easter and the insta post was really popular with friends and family.

The amount of women on this post tearing another woman down is really, really sad. Get a grip the lot of you - anonymity on the internet is not an excuse to be cruel. Just because someone records things or celebrates differently to you, or thinks different things are important - it doesn’t make it wrong, or silly, or worth taking the mick about. Just nasty.

Thanks hun, it’s so important to be kind in this day and age x

Are you happy now that he's agreed to do as he is told

I think it is wrong, though. It's shallow, consumerist and performative. And apparently involves coercing and unwilling partner to play happy families for the approval of others, as well as posting pictures of a child without their consent. Pictures of children posted on Instagram can be used to train AI algorithms, are fodder for paedophiles, can be used to stalk the family, many potentially bad things. And fundamentally the child can't consent to these pictures being shared, stored for who knows how long and used for who knows what purposes.

I don't know if the OP is genuine, it feels like ragebait, but if you're going to post about this stuff online then you should expect people's honest opinions and a lot of people hate these aspects of social media culture.

I promise you no-one looking at your insta will even register that he hasn’t posted about your DC’s easter outfit, let alone think it is strange.

This! It is so true, OP. Your friends and family will be delighted to see your DD in her special outfit for her first Easter, but unless you and DH are A-listers with an army of nosy fans, no one is going to study your posts and posting habits this closely.

What’s cruel about being told a few home truths? It’s a ridiculous issue and some people just need to grow up a bit. Treating your baby like a prop to show off on instagram then whining when someone disagrees is where someone needs to get a grip.

"Really popular".

This has to be a wind-up. I bet you were counting the likes on 'insta' (cringe).

Nah! You're just a teenager messing about! šŸ˜†šŸ˜

Half term will soon be over and you'll be back to school soon!

Goldengirl123 · 20/04/2025 19:10

Bonjovispyjamas · 20/04/2025 08:24

Exactly, I'm more concerned about my aching knees than posting anything on Instagram šŸ˜†

Gen X, no Twitter, no instagram…no joint posts. Do people even do this??

Sailead · 20/04/2025 08:17

I think you’re being ridiculous but I guess this is what happens when Gen X become parents.

You obviously have no idea what Gen X actually means as its youngest members are now 45!

We Gen X’ers do not live through instagram and this is not Gen X behaviour (or any Generation tbh).

Why the slight towards Gen X? You sound jealous.

I disagree. Some people just learn the hard way. The won't respond to reason. They need pain.
It is tragic, but that is the way it is.

Not a gen X thing at all. In fact the opposite. I'm last of the gen xers and my kids are teens.

Imagine all the money you could save if you didn’t go out and buy pointless things for online validation!

ReadingSoManyThreads · 20/04/2025 19:30

Curious as to what Easter "props", you got, perhaps a big wooden cross and some nails?

Did you attend this morning's Easter Sunday service in church? Your DD's first Easter Sunday service!

PaulaBrighton · 20/04/2025 19:30

Fuck me, this must win the 1st world problem post of the year, if not since social media was invented.

SchrodingersTwat2 · 20/04/2025 19:32

What a day to have eyes.

GauntJudy · 20/04/2025 19:34

Sorry OP but this is very juvenile. But on the plus side, if this is your biggest problem you are very blessed.

LoveTKO · 20/04/2025 19:34

Unfortunately an OP of our time. Imagine this in the Dear Deirdre column 30 years ago. Would have been laughed off the pages (I know Insta didn’t exist then!) Poor bloke lol.

Now I understand the original post!

HiHiHiHiHiHello · 20/04/2025 19:36

Not all Gen X are planning retirement and grandkids!
Im the youngest of the Gen Xers, had my kids in my thirties and they are not yet in double digits! Im also only mid-career!

Is it kind to create a MN thread slagging off your husband for not obeying your Instagram Rules?

Piusl · 20/04/2025 19:39

The person who typed gen x corrected this many, many pages ago.
