As per the title - Easter Sunday is off to a dreadful start with ā€˜D’ H and I already having had an argument.

Some background, we have individual insta’s but for any major ā€˜announcements/events’ as such we will use the collaboration feature so the post appears on both our grids. Think engagement, wedding, pregnancy-gender reveal/birth, anniversary etc.

It’s our DD’s first Easter so I’ve got her a brilliant outfit, some props and of course eggs. I’ve also got a personalised sort of sign which says it’s her first Easter.

I said to H I’ll get the photos done after breakfast and we can joint post. He says it’s stupid to do this and doesn’t warrant all the effort as it’s ’only Easter’ so he won’t be putting it on his grid.

AIBU to feel pissed off with him? It will look strange if it’s only on my page.

I know someone who actually does this. So unbelievably cringe.

I really, really hope it's a troll. If not, the poor husband! I'd be withdrawing from 'collaborating' in real life let alone on Insta!

DefinitelyMaybe92 · 20/04/2025 08:20

ā€œMajor announcements/eventsā€? What are you; BBC News?

Couldyounot · 20/04/2025 08:20

You'd be very hard pushed to find anyone who cares about this, OP.

Realism28494 · 20/04/2025 08:20

Poor man having to put up with this nonsense. It’s pathetic.

foxyfour · 20/04/2025 08:20

It’s not even half past 8 in the morning and you’ve caused a row, for social media. Utterly ridiculous. Grow up, put the phone down and concentrate on your family. If this is actually real, I feel for your husband and your child being plastered all over instagram.

HeySugarSugar · 20/04/2025 08:20

Sailead · 20/04/2025 08:17

I think you’re being ridiculous but I guess this is what happens when Gen X become parents.

Did you mean Gen Z?? šŸ˜‚ I’m Gen X, I don’t even have an Insta account and dh would die laughing if I suggested we do an Easter post together šŸ˜‚

Ellie1015 · 20/04/2025 08:20

Yanbu for cute Easter pic on Insta. Yabu to be upset dh won't be included. It is not weird and nobody will notice or care if not on Dh's page. He is right Easter is not a major life event in the same way engagement or pregnancy announcement are. And it becomes you running his social media which is unfair.

I know this isn’t the point of the post but I’m Gen X and in my mid fifties. Joint posting is not something us Gen Xers are even aware is a thing. And if we were we definitely wouldn’t do it. We’re the original latch key kids. Blame a different generation! 😁

SmallSoupcon · 20/04/2025 08:21

Take photos for your own memories. Share them with your family if you want to. But if your life revolves around getting external validation from social media through elaborate posts, I'm afraid it's not going to bring you the happiness you're hoping for.

I'm with your DH. Enjoy your day with your husband and baby. Focus on what's real and in front of you, because that's all that matters.

Bonjovispyjamas · 20/04/2025 08:21

Seriously? Get a grip šŸ™„

NoraLuka · 20/04/2025 08:21

Are you some kind of Z list celebrities where this is part of your job? If not, YABU. Even if you are, YABU too!

AccountCreateUsername · 20/04/2025 08:21

@Sailead gen x are now getting old and looking forward to grand parenting. I blame the boomers ;)

The youngest Gen Xers will be early 40s by now 🤣

Coolasfeck · 20/04/2025 08:22

This can’t be real.

AprilBunny · 20/04/2025 08:22

I feel embarrassed on your behalf.

Onelifeonly · 20/04/2025 08:22

This is what happens when telling the world about your life (you know, no one is that interested, don't you?) is more important than actually living it. Does a one year old even eat Easter eggs?

RampantIvy · 20/04/2025 08:22

@Whatslovegottodo25 Are you even mature enough to have children?

How about living life in the here and now instead of through social media?

Why do you feel that everything you do has to be validated by likes on social media.

Gently - please let this one go.

JoyousEagle · 20/04/2025 08:23

It won’t. Most people won’t register it, and if they do, they won’t think it’s strange. They’ll just think you’ve posted some Easter pics.

HairyToity · 20/04/2025 08:23

We have a friend who does this, we all take the mic behind their backs, and think something is very lacking in their life to have to show off on social media all the time.

Edited

Exactly, I'm more concerned about my aching knees than posting anything on Instagram šŸ˜†

So glad you said that… defo not Gen X!

Got to be a typo for Gen Z - Gen X more likely to be new grandparents than new parents!
