CIS

Just read an article about the Supreme Court judgement today. It repeatedly refers to Cis women. I get so unbelievably annoyed by that term.

I am not a ‘Cis’ woman. I just hate the term. If you want to be a trans woman, fine. That’s what you are. Don’t make me the other side of your imaginary coin. Don’t make me call myself something I’m not. Don’t make me part of your ‘We’re all just at various points on the woman spectrum’ nonsense.

There are women. And there are trans women. Two entirely different things.

I'm just a woman. I don't need to identify as one, because I am one.

HTH

You are one because you know you are one. I think therefore I am.

If the innate feelings do not match the sex at birth

What are these innate feelings though. Describe them. Because nobody else ever has without going into stereotypes of long hair, lipstick and you know, "girly" stuff.

What does this mean though? A man may feel he’s not like other men, but that doesn't mean he ‘feels like a woman’. He feels like he thinks a woman would feel.

i can’t get inside anyone else’s head but I’m pretty sure women don’t all feel the same.
maybe it’s like the ‘what is it like to be a bat’ thought experiment? A human can imagine what it’s like to be a bat, but they can’t know what it’s like for a bat to be a bat.

No. I am a woman because objectively, my body is female. My body will still be female after I’m dead.

I was born female.

No particular thinking required.

🙄 You're under the impression that people need to have a bit of a think in order to decide whether they were born female or not?

That's not my argument. My argument is that no one needs to decide, they are. You know that you are you, you don't need to sometimes think I am Ms Theft. In the same way someone else knows that they are they.

So how can someone born male "know" they aren't male? My son is quite feminine. He's still a man.

How do I "know" I'm a woman other than because of my female body?

Because it is an innate response. How do you know you are conscious?

Oh come on... you think everyone who says they are non-binary 'knew' and had an innate sense since early childhood of being... what? Neither male nor female? That's not even a thing. And that all these middle-aged men with fetishes always 'knew' they were really female? I have no innate sense of being a woman. What sex you are is a fact, not an 'essence' or an emotion.

HaddyAbrams · 18/04/2025 15:58

Bogginsthe3rd · 18/04/2025 15:44

Erm...what?
I know I'm conscious because the opposite of that is unconscious. Which I'm provably not on the basis I'm able to reply to you right now.

So explain again how a male can have women's thoughts because he says he does. Yet my thoughts are automatically women's thoughts on the basis they're mine so must be.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 18/04/2025 16:01

But how do you know your GCS isn't 14 and you aren't entirely confused but think you are orientated ?

I don’t think anything is inherently offensive.

I also think this discussion is being a little pedantic with semantics.

If you don’t like the term cis woman, just say biological woman. They mean the same thing in modern lingo. I usually say woman, or biological woman if some clarification is needed.

In the rare case that somebody has female external genitalia, but male DNA, leading them to be recorded female at birth, I think the situation is nuanced. I’m not sure what the correct term for those people would be. I think we need to be a little bit flexible for truly intersex people like that.

There is no need to say 'biological woman'. Just say woman.

Being 'pedantic with semantics' is what has enabled women to keep the protections afford by the Equality Act.

GetDressedYouMerryGentlemen · 18/04/2025 18:04

@Bogginsthe3rd come on now, you have argued that we all in fact 'cis' women because we have thoughts and feelings and as women they are therefore women's thoughts/feelings and so they equal a female gender. But you also seem to think that some men can have these female thoughts/feelings and so are actually women despite being men but you can't tell us what these magic lady thinks are that having them in your head means you are woman gender. You are going to have to do better than that. What is this magic sense of femaleness that you are certain I have because I really don't think I have it.

It's not even true to say that "cis woman" means the same as biological woman, because trans men are biological women.

BrilliantBrilliant · 18/04/2025 18:14

Bogginsthe3rd · 18/04/2025 15:11

Exactly you are a woman who also identifies as being a woman.

No she's just a woman. No need to identify as what she just is. Seriously stop trying to shoehorn your silly ideology onto others. Enough already.

No, i sourced it from The Guardian, but thanks for telling me where I got my article from. I didn’t link it because it’s so annoying, but here you go.

www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2025/apr/16/supreme-court-definition-woman-judges-law

That’s The Guardian using the term ‘cis’, not the judges.

Have you not learned anything in the last 48 hours?

The only people who feel the need to identify as women are people who are actually men.

The rest of us don't identify as women, we just are.
