I love a shandal, mountain warehouse particularly.

BUT! Is there an actual sandal you find comfy for all day walking in the sun?

Which might look a bit better with a summer dress…

@CarlyCoffee , you don't know what you are missing. I love my Crocs and my Birkenstocks.

I don’t see the point of them, they are both ugly and impractical IMO.
My walking loving parents and in laws scoff at me and DH in the summer for wearing walking boots. However we are merrily walking while they are stopping every ten seconds picking bits out of their sandals, putting socks on with the sandals to stop bits going in them or looking for places to clean their filthy feet at the end of the walk.

I don't understand them either. They are disgusting to look at but I don't understand how they can be practical either. Surely if hiking in them dirt and gravel would get in the holes and you'd be picking them out constantly and really uncomfortable. Similarly on the beach sand would just get in. What is the point of them?

They do get all kinds of debris in them, sticks, nettles, stones etc as well as dust which mixes with sweat because they aren’t worn with socks so the feet are rancid by the end of the walk.
They are neither beautiful or functional IMO.

Well I’m just hoping Shandals now send me a free pair for advertising.

(Calm down everyone, it’s a joke)

I got some sturdy but practical sandals, but I shan’t be sharing any images with Mumsnet. 😀

Teva sandals. You can get them in nicer colors so they are a bit dressier to wear with dresses. Also comfortable to walk, I did 15km+ a day in mine in both in city sightseeing and hiking in Brazilian rain forest.

Well thanks for the clarification @LeaveTaking because I’ve read this whole thread thinking that you were very attached to these monstrosities!

The fact that they are the wrong way round makes it even worse 😭

Had to google.
Tbh, I would not be seen dead in these. They look like a cartoon tramp's shoes; found in a skip, but the toe section has to be cut off because they are too small.
Quite a few threads about sandal in style and beauty at the moment, with some lovely examples

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
