Husband told the bride her dress was beautiful

My husband told the bride her dress was beautiful, but when i showed him my dress idea, which was very similar, he said he didn't like it. He claims he doesn’t recall her dress being similar. Does it appear he finds the bride attractive not the dress?

Your poor husband. If you are worried by this I can only imagine what else you find issue with.
Many people would tell the bride her dress was beautiful. And most would also think the bride looked beautiful, it doesn't mean they're attracted to them.

Well he’s not going to day “your dress looks like a crock of shite. Best wishes on your special day”

Surely you always tell a bride their dress is beautiful, even if it’s the ugliest dress you’ve ever seen?

Unless you don't want to incur the wrath or your unhinged GF perhaps? Probably best this poor guy stays home and doesn't speak to anyone for fear of upsetting the OP.

BunnyLake · 03/04/2025 10:32

I don’t really understand what you’re saying. Are you both designing the dress and he prefers her design to yours, even though they're similar? Otherwise why are there two dresses but only one bride?

He was being polite (and must have the patience of a saint).

Oh no I'm sure he was just saying what you always say to brides at a wedding,

WheresYourSnickers · 03/04/2025 10:34

It's just something you say to a bride isn't it?
Are you married or not?

Hoppinggreen · 03/04/2025 10:20

What did you want him to say to The Bride?
Nice tits love
Its a meaningless phrase people say at weddings when they don't know what else to say

This^^
Are you always this insecure and suspicious? Because if so you need to get help with that before you drive him away.

Quietsheep · 03/04/2025 10:36

Unless there is some massive backstory, it is a polite social convention to tell the bride that her dress is beautiful.

ForZanyAquaViewer · 03/04/2025 10:37

I hope OP comes back. This has the makings of an amusing thread.

I suggest you go to a wedding and tell the bride you don't like her dress. See how it goes

And make sure to report back here. 😁

BobbyBiscuits · 03/04/2025 10:38

I'd say everyone is almost expected to tell the bride she looks beautiful on her wedding day, no?
I wouldn't take it that he fancies her.

I don't think men find wedding dresses sexually appealing. He probably thinks they all look the same.

Or if he really is into the whole styling vibe, maybe he genuinely believes that her dress looked good and the one you picked, not so much?! He might like you in a certain style of dress. And he cares more about what you look like on your wedding than this friend.

Shade17 · 03/04/2025 10:39

I’m a man and would tell a bride she looks absolutely stunning with my wife stood next to me. It wouldn’t occur to me for a second that DW would think I fancy the bride.

misogynyisbigotry · 03/04/2025 10:40

Just wear the dress you love. He'll tell you it's beautiful, too - won't he?

Fuhjutvb · 03/04/2025 10:40

Wow insecure. I don't care what the bride is wearing. I tell her she is beautiful. Most people do.

It is possible that a dress looks beautiful on one person and does not suit the next person at all. Thats why people try on dresses until they find their perfect dress.

Bogginsthe3rd · 03/04/2025 10:41

The alternative
"Claire you look like a sack of squashed potatoes in that one. No one will want to give you away if you are dressed like a troubled meringue"

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 03/04/2025 10:42

Huh?

BumbleBeegu · 03/04/2025 10:42

Oh come on now OP!! Nobody tells a bride that she looks shit do they?? Could you just imagine! 🙀

Have a word with yourself ffs!

They won’t be back. Too busy fighting with the imaginary husband over an imaginary dress and imaginary bride.

FateReset · 03/04/2025 10:45

He was probably being polite to the bride. It's the done thing to compliment the dress.

And dresses look different on different women! Perhaps he thinks the style wouldn't suit you or that you'd look stunning in a different cut or shade.

I don't think it has anything to do with him liking the bride's figure!

MaloryJones · 03/04/2025 10:46

Ffs

EyrieEaglesnest · 03/04/2025 10:46

Yes I don't understand why OP is designing a dress if they are already married.
Most peculiar to get upset about the polite convention of complimenting the bride. Most people would say that even if they didn't think it.

Aposterhasnoname · 03/04/2025 10:46

What?? You always tell the bride her dress is beautiful, even if it looks like an old dishrag. Surely everyone understands this.

treesandsun · 03/04/2025 10:47

He told her the dress was beautiful - he didn't even say she looked beautiful and you suspect he fancies her? Why would you think that?
