Hogging the hot tub

Twobroschillininahottub · 04/03/2025 21:04

I'm a member of a spa local to me and go regularly to swim. Always relax in the jacuzzi/hot tub for a bit afterwards. I've never seen the like today- 2 men were in the hot tub for, I shit you not, an hour and a half. They were in there while I swam lengths for over an hour. No sign of them getting out and I saw other swimmers looking, clearly waiting for them to shift so they could have a turn. After over an hour of swimming I'm not caring, I wanted a rest so I got in (room for 6 people).

They stayed in there for another half hour!

AIBU that this is just not on and you move on to let people have a shot of the hot tub? There are plenty of other facilities like sauna and so on that they could have moved on to.

Hi this post has been up for 30 mins now so could you please request it be deleted to make room for more people to post as you are hogging the feed. Other people want to make posts too. It's a shared forum.

ThDanielDay · 04/03/2025 21:35

Completely agree op.

Similar in my gym with one woman hogging the treadmill for 90 minutes the other day. Admittedly the other 6 were free but that's 90 minutes where she denied a person a treadmill

Finetoday · 04/03/2025 21:37

Did you hog all the changing rooms when you got changed in one cubicle?
How selfish !

FavouriteFilms · 04/03/2025 21:38

I can see swimming pools having a use, it s exercise and relaxation, even if you only swim a little, you do mostly share spaces, but usually in passing.

But I’ve never seen anything good about a hot tub, literally sharing a bath, and then sharing it with strangers, sitting, stuck with each other 🤣🤣🤣
🤢

I reckon the reality of how people use the space shows that it's different. People might swim for an hour/hour and a half and that works because it's a large pool and has space for lots of people to navigate swimming lengths even if it's a bit busy.

For hot tub/sauna/steam room/relaxation pool and so on, I've never seen anyone park up for an hour and a half.

What in gods name are you on about OP? You got in anyway, which is what anyone could/should do, in the four spaces left?

Weirder to have been timing other people’s perfectly reasonable use of gym facilities tbh, I don’t get your point.

RedCatBlueCatYellowCat · 04/03/2025 21:44

Unless there is a site rule that limits individual time in the hot tub, YABU. They can stay in it as long as they like.

It's full of chlorine the same as the pool so the only difference is it's hot and bubbly and you don't swim about in it.

It's bliss after swimming a mile and a half, especially as we don't have a bath at home at the moment until we refurb our bathroom.

Less blissful with two blokes spending an hour and a half plonked in it talking business bullshit loudly though

Do you often spend your time at the gym timing what everyone else is doing? Just worry about what you’re doing, it’s none of your business what other people are doing, and it’s not hurting anyone.

I didn't time it I just know how long it takes me to swim a mile and a half and then I know how long I was in.

I just think it's rude and I've never seen anyone do that before. I did crack on and get in but I don't think it's polite. Everyone else I've ever seen manage to balance use of the facilities so that other people do manage to get the hot tub either to themselves for a bit or with a couple of friends.

Ok. OP you win. This clearly is the most entitled thread in the history of mn. You can only use a hot tub if, and only if, the op says it ok.

it's a hot tub, a bath that farts. There is no medical, social, cultural or historic reason why these two fellow paying patrons should have got out because you feel that they should.

Twobroschillininahottub · 04/03/2025 21:48

@Changingplace

I don't time anything- there's no clock. The jacuzzi is right next to the pool, it's easy to see how long people stay in it. An hour and a half is wild.

😂

It seems unreasonable to me based on how every other person I've ever seen at the spa uses the facilities. It's nice for others to move on and not park for so long at one thing.

I got in...

I don't mind sharing

Then there's not an issue then?

Twobroschillininahottub · 04/03/2025 21:51

@BallerinaRadio

Just because I'm happy to get in doesn't mean I don't think it's inconsiderate of them.

Does it stay on solidly? At the gym I go to it goes on in cycles and you have to get out between times.

Anyway YA probably U as there was space, but I am always amazed at the amount of men there are in the spa at our gym no matter when you go. Always overrun by fucking men. Drives me mad.

Yes this one is on constantly

Sounds like the blokes in my gym.
Up at the pool the men outnumber the women 20 - 1 on any day and yes, they chat for hours in the jacuzzi.
I don't mind, I hardly ever use it. Makes me want to go to sleep and I get grumpy to have to shower, get dressed and drive home. 😁

Ah well. There's a first time for everything. Think of it as a new experience.

🤢Just thinking of the wee . There’s no way they weren’t relieving themselves . Agree selfish behaviour !

Why are you assuming they are weeing? Most adults can hold their bladders for 2 hours at least!

Sugargliderwombat · 04/03/2025 21:53

I don't understand why this is cheeky? There was room so why did they need to get out? I don't understand the etiquette here really.

20 to 1 😮 I'd say definitely 50/50 at this one

Another this is a none issue .. I litterally would not even cross my mind never mind bother me enough to make a thread about it .

I assume they were having a good catch up

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 04/03/2025 22:01

This drives me mad. Every time I go to a spa there's always a group that spend their WHOLE time in the hot tub.

It's so selfish.
