I don't mind my cat sleeping on my bed at all, but sometimes in the night she'll jump on my stomach and wake me up, or will lick my face to check I'm still alive!
This morning I evicted her at around 4am because she'd jumped on my stomach or back at least 4 times! As I say I'm happy for her to sleep there but I can't have the disturbed sleep long-term. Anyone else?

Have a working cocker spaniel puppy and she sleeps in her crate. It's what works for us.

mrsmoppp · 01/03/2025 19:55

Yep! My 2 dogs sleep with me and wake me up in the regular. Luckily they're only little but a full nights sleep would be good!

Snowmanscarf · 01/03/2025 19:57

Not during the night , apart from odd occasion, but sometimes will sleep there during the day.

MagicalMystical · 01/03/2025 19:57

Our cat sleeps on our beds in the daytime but doesn’t have access to the upstairs at night

YeOldeGreyhound · 01/03/2025 19:57

My dog has always slept on my bed. We both sleep better for it.

takeitbacknowyo · 01/03/2025 19:58

My dog and cat both end up on the bed

Zanatdy · 01/03/2025 19:58

Yes my dog sleeps on my bed, though he tends to go down on the floor by choice around 10pm

FondantFancyFan · 01/03/2025 19:59

My first cat slept at the end of mine or dd's bed on a towel & didn't move an inch until the morning.

Our current cat sleeps downstairs because she disturbs everyone if she sleeps next to us.

TheIvyRestaurant · 01/03/2025 19:59

I had dogs all my life until a few years ago when I decided I just couldn’t commit to a new puppy. I NEVER let them sleep in/on my bed. The thought of a dog’s bare arsehole stamping itself where I sleep or next to my face makes me feel sick. My dogs were always treated like pets and that meant they weren’t allowed in certain rooms. Growing up our dogs weren’t even allowed upstairs. I don’t think they even knew upstairs existed 😂 my dogs as adults weren’t allowed on the sofa either. Thats where the humans sit.

Dearg · 01/03/2025 20:00

Yes , one of my dogs always sleeps between DH & I, the other joins us when the mood takes her.
I like the cuddles and we have a big bed.

BlackCatsAreBrilliant · 01/03/2025 20:00

I usually have at least one cat sleeping on my bed.

They don't usually disturb me during the night. The issue is when I'm trying to have a lie in and one of them sits on my bladder.

RandomMess · 01/03/2025 20:01

Hell no my sleep is sacred. The cats are shut downstairs overnight and the dog shares a room with DH as his snoring reassures her Wink

TheAlertFinch · 01/03/2025 20:01

My cat comes for a purr and a fuss when I first get into bed,but sleeps elsewhere. Usually on a chair in the spare bedroom.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 01/03/2025 20:02

Our cat is shut in the kitchen at nights or he’s an absolute pest at 5am looking for his breakfast! On weekends he comes and lies in with us, and will often sleep on a human bed during the day. Sometimes I put the electric blanket on for him.

Wakeywake · 01/03/2025 20:02

My cat sleeps on the bed and doesn't wake me up until 5:30 every morning when he starts biting me to get up and feed him. Arsehole but I love him anyway.

MrsJHernandez · 01/03/2025 20:02

Older dog used to sleep on our bed (sometimes IN when she got cold!) but since getting our 2nd puppy, it's no dogs on the bed because there just isn't room. Even small dogs take up more space than you think! They both happily sleep in their own cosy beds next to ours now.

ThreeMagicNumber · 01/03/2025 20:02

Yes our cats a massive pain in the arse. Wants in/out some nights. Meows and bolts round the house. Is on and off the bed and sometimes jumps on you when jumping up and I get the fright of my life. Cuddles right up to my legs and wakes me cleaning herself. I've tried locking her in the living room of out our room and she scratches at the carpet, meows loudly on repeat and scratches the door. She can get out the living room bouncing against the door repeatedly. I love her but won't get another cat again.

Laffydaffy · 01/03/2025 20:03

Cats sleep on our beds, rotating position and place every night. They wake us up if we are out of routine, ie: sleeping in on school holidays. I had no idea they could develop a sort of body clock like humans.

ParsnipPuree · 01/03/2025 20:03

Tried to let my cats sleep on my bed but unfortunately they use us as a springboard at 5am..

ThinWomansBrain · 01/03/2025 20:03

My cat sleeps on my bed in the day, but at night only in the winter.
At the moment, one side, almost half the bed, has her bed and a furry mat.
She has decided that she now prefers the other side - I get a small channel in the middle.

Cow90 · 01/03/2025 20:03

Oh yeah, definitely the springboard! Gives me the fright of my life too!
I fostered another cat temporarily a few months back. I shut him out one night and he pulled my carpet up and took paint off the door!

my dog does
she wakes me in the morning mostly too early

today luckily I set my alarm as she had decided to let me have a lie in, when I didnt need one!

shellyleppard · 01/03/2025 20:04

3 cats, they all sleep in different places.....one sleep's on the spare pillow in my bed 🤣🤣 yes I'm single lol. Sometimes they sleep in the window, sometimes in my sons bed. Its play hunt the cat in the morning

Cattreesea · 01/03/2025 20:05

My cat often sleeps on my bed on my feet or knees :)

She tends to wake me up as well in the morning but at least it is usually around 7am so not too bad. I just go back to sleep when it is not a work day.

Esgaroth · 01/03/2025 20:07

Not at night, but the cat's allowed during the day.

I wouldn't have a dog on the furniture at all - love dogs but they have much more of a smell and they don't wash themselves as diligently as cats. I grew up with dogs and they weren't even allowed upstairs. I'd stick to that if I ever had one.
