I don't mind my cat sleeping on my bed at all, but sometimes in the night she'll jump on my stomach and wake me up, or will lick my face to check I'm still alive!
This morning I evicted her at around 4am because she'd jumped on my stomach or back at least 4 times! As I say I'm happy for her to sleep there but I can't have the disturbed sleep long-term. Anyone else?

All of my cats have done. The last incumbent loved waking me up because she wanted a cuddle. It was incredibly annoying. But she was adorable. I miss her doing it now. Cutest cat is more considerate!

Dog sleeps in with me. Much cleaner than my ex and at least I know where she has been!

Toddlerteaplease · 01/03/2025 20:34

*current.

My dogs don’t go on the furniture at all as they are 60-70kg and would have it ruined very quickly.

The cat sometimes does but he often wakes me up in the middle of the night and gets evicted!

Idontknowhatnametochoose · 01/03/2025 20:35

Dog and cat sleep on the bed. Cat wakes up about 3am so I wear earplugs after that as she sometimes meows at me for attention.

WonderingOneOfAll · 01/03/2025 20:35

No , my dog doesn’t sleep in my bed.
she is too big for that . 🐕

Sometimes she lies down next to the bed on the floor.

chocmalt · 01/03/2025 20:36

Aside from rare occasions, which always ended in annoyance, we never did until recently. Our oldest dog started seeming to find time in the crate more difficult after going blind. It was probably just a matter of waiting for her to adjust, but we felt bad leaving her alone, so decided to give it another try. Now the elder one stays all night, but the younger comes and goes, depending on his mood. They do wake us from time to time, but it's mostly fine.

My dog has always slept on my bed. We both sleep better for it.

this exactly….I would struggle to sleep without my dog

faithspikebuffy · 01/03/2025 20:37

Like this basically, little spoon Grin
He burrows under the duvet and gets cross if I lift it up and let the warm air out

My cat sleeps in my bed, under the duvet. He just got in on the night I adopted him, and I couldn't bring myself to turn him out, so there he stayed. 14 years later, he's a very old man and he wakes up every 3 hours wanting food and crying at me, and my sleep is awful, but he's a very old man (nearly 19) and I can't bear to not pander to him. It can't be for much longer. I always say that my next cat will sleep downstairs, but I don't think that will happen. If it's cold, he sleeps curled up in against my belly, but often he spoons up against me as a little spoon with my arm round him and his paws round my hand.

My best ever sleeping companion was my mum's Jack Russell. She died last June, but for about 10 years or so, she adored me and refused to leave my side whenever I visited (usually every few months, where I stayed a week or so) and instead of her usual sleeping downstairs in her own bed, she just automatically came up with me and slept under the duvet. She always started the night under the duvet at my feet, but by morning she'd be lying with her head on the pillow gazing at me, with her paws on my chest.

No pets on the furniture here. Cats especially as they walk through their litter 😫

How do you keep a cat off of the furniture? Asking for a friend 😂

EG94 · 01/03/2025 20:39

Yea one dog sleeps above my head and the other sleeps In The curl of my legs until she gets warm and flakes out by my legs on top of the duvet. They sleep through no drama but the leg dog often decides it’s time to start the day earlier than I’d like. 🙄

SittingNextToIt · 01/03/2025 20:40

Our beloved shihtzu sleeps and has always slept with me and DH. Except when kids were babies and co slept (during which months she fucked off downstairs for 6 months each time
because she wanted uninterrupted sleep the clever thing).

DH and I wouldn't cope very well with losing her, and sometimes as she is nearing 11, we think about how grateful we are to have her curled up in our bed each night - long may she live ❤️

DefyingGravidy · 01/03/2025 20:41

Our cats are shut in the kitchen at night. They know the score, and take themselves off to kitchen-bed if we’re a bit late.

Cat 1 has past form of falling on my face in the night, claws out (after walking along our headboard and falling off). Also likes to leap all over us in the night, then cry to be let out the window.

If it was just Cat 2 then I’d let him in as he just wants to cuddle up.

LittleRedYarny · 01/03/2025 20:41

I’m afraid I voted YABU because it’s not your bed anymore, much like you no longer own your home or the food in it - it all belongs to the cat now and you agreed to these terms when you got the cat…

In reality, I’ve found nothing that diverts cats away from where they want to sit/sleep - not even tinfoil.

faeriesandelves · 01/03/2025 20:42

Our 4 dogs sleep on our bed and always have done. Never inside the bed but on top of the duvet. Nothing as comforting as holding one of their paws when I go off to sleep. Did have to upgrade to a super king bed though.

CoastalCalm · 01/03/2025 20:42

To be honest it feels more like I sleep in the dogs bed - he’s started laying horizontally across

Mingenious · 01/03/2025 20:43

Our Lurcher sleeps on one of the beds, some night he’ll sleep on all of the beds….sometimes, if it’s cold, he sleeps IN the bed (as in under the duvet 🤣) he does disturb us so when i’m extra tired I shut him out and he can poke his bony back in to one of the kids instead.

Nothungrycat · 01/03/2025 20:46

Small Cat sleeps on the bed - usually starts off sleeping exactly where my hand can reach so that I can stroke her, she purrs and we both go to sleep together, which is lovely. She then buggers off in the early hours, and comes back again and tries to sleep in a much less convenient position. Such as up against my back when she's been out in the rain. Other issues include the puking under the bed thing and the small live mouse in the bedroom thing. Bigger Cat (now ousted from the bedroom by Small Cat) once dropped a live mouse actually on the bed in the early hours. And I don't want to remember the frog years...

DrFosterWentToGloucester23 · 01/03/2025 20:47

Nope. DDog sleeps downstairs in his bed (no crates here). He isn’t allowed upstairs or on the furniture. There is no stairgate. He’s just known since a puppy that upstairs is for humans only.

Keepgettingolder81 · 01/03/2025 20:47

Bichon on the bed!

Whyherewego · 01/03/2025 20:48

My cat is a total pain and will bother me a few times. However it's worse if I shut him out as he then scratches at the door etc

Supersimkin7 · 01/03/2025 20:50

Waking up after a bad dream to a snoring purry lump heals all ills.

EmpressaurusKitty · 01/03/2025 20:51

My cat sleeps in the bed during the day & on it at night.

SeeYouNextThriday · 01/03/2025 20:52

Mine sleeps in bed with me, under the duvet. Shes thin skinned and likes the warmth.
