I don't mind my cat sleeping on my bed at all, but sometimes in the night she'll jump on my stomach and wake me up, or will lick my face to check I'm still alive!
This morning I evicted her at around 4am because she'd jumped on my stomach or back at least 4 times! As I say I'm happy for her to sleep there but I can't have the disturbed sleep long-term. Anyone else?

Two years ago, he slept in his bed in the sitting room.
A few weeks in, he started sleeping on the sofa.
After a few months, he moved to sleep outside my bedroom door.
For his safety and mine, he then was allowed to sleep in his bed on the bedroom floor.

Theoretically that is still where he sleeps. It is a rare morning when I wake up without him on the bed.

So, yeah. Best laid plans.

Have a working cocker spaniel puppy and she sleeps in her crate. It's what works for us.

Same here (4 year old cockapoo)

Doodleflips · 01/03/2025 21:51

My old dog never slept on my bed, but after we lost him, I got a puppy and he just didn’t settle being downstairs on his own. He sleeps on his side, and luckily is a silent sleeper, so he rarely wakes me up.

cardibach · 01/03/2025 21:44

So they never sit with you 9n the sofa? Never jump up when you nip out?

No. She has her own spaces in the living room (all over the house). We close doors to the rooms with soft furnishings when we go out. She is very vocal 🤣and if she wants pets she let's us know. She doesn't come on the sofas

Shimmyshimmycocobop · 01/03/2025 21:52

Ddog sleeps on the bed as he wairs for me to wake up, when in his own bed he would come and waken me too early. The cat has to be shut downstairs as he tends to sit on your head at 4 AM.

TwoRobins · 01/03/2025 21:54

Yes. Our cat does allow us to share her bed.

PoppyP19 · 01/03/2025 21:54

Cats are an absolutely not a chance in hell, but the dog does occasionally 😂

The cats are pretty much nocturnal and will not allow us to sleep if they are allowed upstairs. I’ve given up trying!

The dog will curl up at the end of the bed or go in his own bed on the floor and is no bother!

JMSA · 01/03/2025 21:55

Yes, he does. He's a needy little Shih Tzu and I'm single, so it doesn't matter. He doesn't shed hair, so not toooo unhygienic, and it was the only way I could get a decent night's sleep when he was a puppy!
He's nearly 10, so I can't change it now. And actually, I would miss the sound of his gentle snorts and snores.
I love my dog Smile

I’ve two ‘indoor’ dogs, one is 12 and one is 3. The old boy is allowed to sleep on our bed, but is getting to feel his age more and more these days and often opts to move to his bed at the foot of ours, where he won’t get jostled in the night. It’s annoying as fuck having him in our room let alone on our bed but he’s far too old to change now! He doesn’t moult or anything but the fidgeting drives me insane. The youngster has a crate downstairs… not falling into that trap again!!

Catlover1705 · 01/03/2025 21:56

Yes, the cat sleeps on my husbands pillow and won't budge.

FastFood · 01/03/2025 21:59

My dog sleeps on his bed in his bedroom or under the duvet with me, which I absolutely love, even if he wakes me up.

I shut my cat out of my bedroom at all times (and always have, through multiple cats) so I get it. But the sofa doesn’t bother me and we curl up on it together. She doesn’t go on the kitchen counters, but that’s because she’s a lazy arse with short legs so I’ve never had to try to teach her. Other cats I’ve had have done it (no door on my kitchen) and I just disinfected before any food prep.

Our dog usually sleeps in the lounge.

Except the 2 days a week dh is away for work, then he sleeps with me.

He knows the difference. If I say "bedtime" when dh is here he takes himself off to his chair in the lounge, but if dh isn't here he bounds up the stairs and is settled on our bed before I can finish the word.

Really confused him on Thursday night when I went to bed before dh got in from the cinema with ds. He really wasn't best pleased to be shooed off downstairs at 11:30pm!

Theunamedcat · 01/03/2025 22:03

Mine wake me up when I've got a cold and my breathing upset them especially if I sleep too deeply otherwise it's a 6am wake up for breakfast my alarm goes off at ten past six anyway so it's no big deal

Redpeach · 01/03/2025 22:04

Our pets are allowed everywhere

Normallynumb · 01/03/2025 22:06

Yes, my 9 year old Westie is my companion of choice
We both sleep better, and he tucks himself in behind my knees( side sleeper)
I wouldn't have it any other way

emmetgirl · 01/03/2025 22:07

Yes 2 cats sleep on the bed with us and without us!

Isseywith2witchycats · 01/03/2025 22:09

No down to one cat now (lost two elderly ones within 3 months of each other) but OH is allergic to cats, downstairs he can keep far enough away from cat that it doesn't bother him, but in the bed would be too much and I don't want to sleep in a bed with fur on the bedding much as I love the stripy little monster

ClearHoldBuild · 01/03/2025 22:10

Our dogs don’t go on the furniture or upstairs. Each to their own though.

Blondebrownorred · 01/03/2025 22:11

My dogs don't go in bedrooms let alone on the beds.

Grapewrath · 01/03/2025 22:12

My dog sleeps at the foot of my bed. He has his own blankets to sleep on so I chuck them in the wash most days to keep it all fresh
hes a broken coated terrier so doesn’t really shed. I couldn’t be arsed to have hair in my bed

ThereIsIron · 01/03/2025 22:15

No. Dog - cocker spaniel - sleeps in her bed in the kitchen

OkPedro · 01/03/2025 22:29

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 01/03/2025 20:02

Our cat is shut in the kitchen at nights or he’s an absolute pest at 5am looking for his breakfast! On weekends he comes and lies in with us, and will often sleep on a human bed during the day. Sometimes I put the electric blanket on for him.

I had this problem with my cat until I got an automatic feeder. It pops open at 5am and my little darling doesn't wake me ☺️

ilovepixie · 01/03/2025 22:30

My Lhasa apso sleeps on my bed. I love having her there, hearing her little snores and sighs is so comforting.

ExitPursuedByABare · 01/03/2025 22:31

My dog sleeps on and in my bed. Keeps me warm.
