To want to help Ukraine- is there ANYTHING we can do????

I am just so sad watching Zelensky. He's had his country invaded by Russia, fought for survival and now he's got Trump and Vance gaslighting him. Mumsnet, there's posts every day on here about this sort of behaviour, but usually it is happening in playgrounds. Wonderful advice is given. But this is not a playground. This is the world. How can we/ the little people help? I feel so so helpless. Please give ideas? Can we do something to support Ukraine and potentially change the future?

Yes- frankly, we, the little people have nothing we can do to help.
No- We need to fight to help Ukraine and keep Europe safe (and here's my idea....)

Get over there and fight. They are running short on troops and need replacements. Training of sorts is provided although it's very much "on the job" training. It's technically illegal for someone from the UK to go and fight but the authorities are likely to turn a blind eye while it is seen as a "just" war.

You could tell your MP how you feel, so if there’s a vote on more help for Ukraine they know how their constituents feel.

Seeing Trump wagging his finger at Zelensky and saying he must do this that and the other is sort of...fucking absurd. The state the world is in.

I was wondering what all of the Ukrainian refugees over here were thinking; will they march or something? I mean, I am sure they are grateful to us but really watching someone else's PM backing 2 superpowers insulting your PM and raiding your resources makes me cross, so goodness knows how they feel.

You can sign a petition, give them even more money, it won't change a thing. If leaders want war we always get it and always find money for it. You saw Starmer's answer yesterday, invite Trump for a full state visit, yet MN thinks he played a blinder.

I understand that Ukraine isn't the only country or region in dire need right now. I have family living near to the Ukraine border and know the situation better than I do gaza/palastine/Israel etc. I wish for peace everywhere.

There's been hundreds of threads throughout the latest conflict in the middle east day in, day out. Yet until recently ones about Ukraine had really died off.

There's many of us who think that time will tell that Zelensky was an absolute fraud. It's fine to question the loss of life. It's fine to question Zelensky's motivation. Read the testimonies of the men, facing conscription in the Ukraine, who don't want this war.

Given that this war has been going on for THREE years now and no other country has yet stepped in to change that, isn't the question more, why has this become the best anybody's managed to do in the way of intervention so far?

I mean you, OP, are up in arms about Trump's actions and asking what you can do but that would suggest that you were not, in any way, involved in help for Ukraine before today - why not?

I'm not saying what Trump is doing is in any way right but you've had three years to get involved and help Zelensky and Ukraine. They needed help defending themselves from Putin long before they needed help defending themselves from Trump.

IMO this clown show won't last too long. I think these idiots will be ousted. The best result for Ukraine is that someone sane replaces these fuckwits and reneges on all these 'agreements'.

Absolutely agree. I didn't realise how unpopular he's become in his own country until a Ukrainian colleague mentioned it a few weeks ago. They were disgusted with him posing for Vogue when people were getting killed. You never actually hear the side of the people it really has an impact on though sadly.

Yes, interestingly Tesla sales have fallen dramatically across mainland Europe but not in the UK by any dramatic amount. We're a country where few people care about much except themselves any more.

I have been involved. I have helped find homes for Ukrainian refugees, donated food, clothes and money. The refugees I found hokes for are settled, working, speaking perfect English and very happy. But they wish to go home one day.
