DH not happy

I have just entertained DMIL DFIL and all the family for a roast dinner. We had a bottle of bubbles when they arrived. I cooked and served a full roast. Then we went for a walk, we have 4 under 5.
When we got back I did teas and coffees for everyone. Cleared, unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher etc. As well as breastfeeding a baby.
Had a quick dance party to tire kids out.
during which DH commented I was drunk and should stop dancing.
We have now put the kids to bed.
Have poured a glass of wine out of what was left from DMIL and DFiL bottle they left with us. Fully thought I earned it but maybe not. Am I wrong.

Sorry to be "that" person but a pub measure of a small glass is 125 ml, so any wine bottle of 75cl has 6 small glasses. Then you have medium of 175 (and I cba to do the maths on that) and then 250ml, large, gives you three glasses.

Not sure what you think you’re correcting? We know that at a minimum 4 glasses came from the bottle of wine as OP had 2 and her in-laws had some to. Most likely OP and her in-laws all had 1, OP stopped, her in-laws had a top up while OP worked away to serve everyone and clean up and OP had the remaining glass hours later after a walk and the kids were in bed.

Perhaps you need to educate yourself then. NO bottle of wine has 5-6 glasses in it FFS!

Edited

Are you really not understanding that a bottle can hold five or six smaller glasses in it? You just pour less? It’s really not our fault though if you only guzzle great big goblets of wine.

I mean standard measures are incredibly easy to work out.
If you can only get 3 glasses from a bottle of wine perhaps you have a problem with binge drinking?

Yes this. This! Why are people not getting/accepting this?

Bloody hell you're exhausting 😆

A statistician, she ain’t.

Well I know that 'alcohol doesn't enter your breastmilk' is utter bollocks. It DOES. So many people spreading misinformation on here, it's terrifying. And no WAY does any bottle of wine have 5-6 glasses worth in it LMFAO! 😂

The alcohol content of breastmilk when a mother has had an entire bottle of wine will be less alcohol content than freshly squeezed orange juice if that helps you visualise it.

My guess is she was having fun? How dare she. He sounds like such an arsehole.

Or maybe he knows what is actually going on, seeing as he lives with the OP.

BatchCookBabe · 16/02/2025 20:22

Because we’ve shown that what you quoted means the amount of alcohol needed to have even a tiny effect on the baby is enough to make most people unconscious so the mother wouldn’t be nursing anyway.

It's perfectly OK to breastfeed and have a glass of wine

She's having three.

AT least I'm not binge drinking and breastfeeding. Wink

Nobody is saying it doesn’t. What we are saying is that the scientific evidence shows that you would need to be paraletic, on the floor, stomache pumped level of drunk before the level of alcohol in your breastmilk would be such that it would be harmful to your baby.

Gave the baby shots of flaming sambuca.

🤣🤣🤣 just spat my wine out! Dammit, now I’ve only got 2 or possibly 5 glasses left in the bottle.

MrsSunshine2b · 16/02/2025 20:28

ClairDeLaLune · 16/02/2025 19:21

One small one in a day. Not 3 of whatever size we don’t know.

You would have to be comatose for your milk to be as alcoholic as orange juice.

Shush.

A poster said clearly further back that alcohol doesn't end up in the breastmilk. I quoted it. So yes people ARE saying this. Try reading through the thread properly

I used my parents’ old wine glasses, very small, tasteful, ordinary table wine sort of glass – like you might have in a French cafe at lunch when you’re not really drinking, just French lunch drinking. You could probably get about 10 glasses out of those easily. You’d be hard-pressed to get the baby drunk even if you fed it directly from the glass. Not all wine glasses are the cavernous modern goblet sort you’re drinking from.

You would think if he lived there too he would share the load while cooking for his own parents, or hosting, or cleaning or looking after the children?

Perhaps he should have helped her out with all the hosting and cleaning up after his family visiting, or taken care of his children, and she wouldn't have needed the drink at the end of the day.

theyreallyaredicks · 16/02/2025 20:31

@BatchCookBabe have you been drinking, because you seem quite illogical and angry in an irrational manner- classic drunken symptoms.

You seem to have VERY generous pours and essentially serve ‘doubles’ of wine. Are you in denial about your drinking habits? Do you call it ‘one’ glass of wine when you’re really having a third of a bottle. (A THIRD of a bottle! To yourself! In one go!)

I really think you should have some hard reflection on your alcohol consumption- it sounds really out of control.
