DH not happy

I have just entertained DMIL DFIL and all the family for a roast dinner. We had a bottle of bubbles when they arrived. I cooked and served a full roast. Then we went for a walk, we have 4 under 5.
When we got back I did teas and coffees for everyone. Cleared, unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher etc. As well as breastfeeding a baby.
Had a quick dance party to tire kids out.
during which DH commented I was drunk and should stop dancing.
We have now put the kids to bed.
Have poured a glass of wine out of what was left from DMIL and DFiL bottle they left with us. Fully thought I earned it but maybe not. Am I wrong.

Drinking alcohol and breastfeeding?

Sure.

There is no problem with drinking and breastfeeding, it's not the same as drinking in pregnancy. Even if she was paralytic drunk there would still be nearly nothing in her milk.

Uberella · 17/02/2025 01:43

OMG imagine if à breast feeding mama could do this magic thing called pre pumping and freezing breast milk so that indeed if said mama decided to have a few glasses of booze that could be used instead right?

It would seem the OP's husband seems to think she is a domestic appliance and is probably pissed because he thinks if his overworked wife has been drinking he might go pull his finger out of his entitled arse and do some actual parenting or something.

Devianinc · 17/02/2025 01:53

I’m sure she pumped and was looking forward to having some fun. Asswipe made her feel bad. Not acceptable

Why? There would no need to have pumped.

You shouldn’t drink 3 glasses of wine if you’re BF, so I’ve voted YABU. Your husband IBVU for not sharing the workload however.

She had ONE glass dur8ng the day. The other 2 have been after the baby was in bed already....it will likely be hours before she BF again so its totally fine and following the guidelines!

allthemiddlechildrenoftheworld · 17/02/2025 09:25

@Babyitscoldoutside1 however, if you are italian, there are three hundred glass of wine to be had in a bottle!! I think you are all concentrating on the wrong thing here. it is not so much about the alcohol, it is more about the lazy, good for nothing husband who expects his overworked wife to do all the cooking and cleaning and clearing up so he can entertain his parents to a slap up lunch in the marital home!! let him do it all for once!

She had 1 at lunchtime, worked bloody hard cleaning up, went for a long walk, had a 2nd at teatime, and has just poured a 3rd. She didn’t neck an entire bottle in an hour.

there was 1 bottle of fizz between 4 adults, and possibly a bottle of wine between 4 adults, or it might have been the leftovers of the bottle of fizz. Either way, that’s not a lot, not over an entire afternoon and most of the evening.

I didn't say it was a lot. I just said it wasn't 'a glass of wine' it was three. Because it was. It's easy to minimise or exaggerate the detail given on threads, depending on our own agenda and pretty soon all perspective is lost. Let's just stick to the facts.

I disagree.

You can disagree, but you're wrong. The alcohol that gets into breastmilk is negligible, the same percentage as BAC. It won't affect baby at all.

It's a question of morals. If you also have poor morals then please do continue, I disagree. One glass is very different to binge drinking and a poor choice when feeding and in charge of an infant.

But that’s personal opinion and not fact!

You’re just making up your own rules, which is good for you, but no one need follow them.

Which is why I said 'I disagree' rather than 'that's illegal'. 🙄

Naunet · 18/02/2025 13:10

Well it seems your husband sees you as staff, and it's perfectly reasonable to not want your staff drunk whilst on duty, what if he needed his arse wiped?

Seriously OP, why did you do all the work to entertain and clean up after his parents? When is he taking his turn to do this for your parents?

2JFDIYOLO · 05/05/2025 00:42

It's probably because of the way you behave when you're pissed + playing the martyr.

Refuse to host them again.

Tell him next time he's cooking.

Or if you do it, allocate jobs to them all ensuring they understand you need help and only if you get help will the meal happen.

And ensure he's doing all the childcare while you cook.

If you have indeed posted this same thing before, drinking an entire bottle of wine probably makes you obnoxious and he knows it.
