DH not happy

I have just entertained DMIL DFIL and all the family for a roast dinner. We had a bottle of bubbles when they arrived. I cooked and served a full roast. Then we went for a walk, we have 4 under 5.
When we got back I did teas and coffees for everyone. Cleared, unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher etc. As well as breastfeeding a baby.
Had a quick dance party to tire kids out.
during which DH commented I was drunk and should stop dancing.
We have now put the kids to bed.
Have poured a glass of wine out of what was left from DMIL and DFiL bottle they left with us. Fully thought I earned it but maybe not. Am I wrong.

The alcohol content of breastmilk when a mother has had an entire bottle of wine will be less alcohol content than freshly squeezed orange juice if that helps you visualise it.

Ooh, let’s make MIMOSAS!

Perhaps he should have helped her out with all the hosting and cleaning up after his family visiting, or taken care of his children, and she wouldn't have needed the drink at the end of the day.

Not a good look though, to be drinking multiple glasses of wine because you're stressed. Especially when you're in charge of a baby and breastfeeding.

MixedBananas · 16/02/2025 20:32

And where was your "DH" with all these tasks?

TicklishReader · 16/02/2025 20:32

BatchCookBabe · 16/02/2025 20:26

Go and have a lie down if facts are making you so tired.

It's also a fact that apple seeds contain cyanide. Does this mean children should never eat apples? No. That would be a silly overreaction because the FACT is it would take hundreds of apple seeds to cause any harm.

OP having 3 drinks will not harm her baby. You sound foolish.

SouthLondonMum22 · 16/02/2025 20:28

Right.

Because no man is ever an arsehole.

Of course there are some. I have no idea if this applies to the OP's Husband, though, in this instance. He could have very legitimate concerns, regarding the OP, and her alcohol consumption, in general.

Further to my sheeple question, do you ever end a Facebook or Mumsnet post with the word ‘FACT’ written in capitals? Or perhaps the phrase ‘Rant over’?

I do when I'm right yeah. (Like I am on this thread.)

Wow the breastfeeding and drinking haters with no scientific proof are out in force today. Fml. I guess u can join my husband in the bin

My midwife told me that having a glass of wine whilst breast feeding was like trying to warm up a swimming pool with a hot cup of tea. I didn't have bottle after bottle but if I was out for lunch would have a glass of wine whilst baby was on the boob, always made me laugh those that clutched their pearls. If he's that worried, express some and tell him to get up for the night feeds tonight, after all you'll be sleeping off a hangover 🤔🤣

FFS! 🙄

Is that your answer? Very enlightening!

Of course alcohol enters the breast milk!!! It stays for several hours. Stop posting dangerous misinformation! FGS!

Calm down. It's not misinformation. I have heard many times 'if you can hold the baby, you are safe to breastfeed'. If someone is co-sleeping, that is a different story. Back in the day they used to prescribe Guinness or something to breastfeeding mothers for God's sake!!
Get ready to clutch your pearls, because I drank when breastfeeding my babies and they are perfectly healthy, beautiful toddlers.

If OP is telling the truth in regards to what she has drank today. OP's DH has no need for concern.

3 drinks, the last one hours after the first 2 with a big meal between, is a non issue.

Ooh, let’s make MIMOSAS!

She could sellotape a novelty paper umbrella to her tit. (Although it might set off @BatchCookBabe that you have a eye gouging beach sized parosol near the babies face) 😂

Gloriia · 16/02/2025 20:36

People who drink too much always get very angry and defensive when family members mention it.

If you had 3 small glasses over 8hrs fine as a one off but I'd guess it was more, hence his comment.

IchiNiSanShiGo · 16/02/2025 20:36

SpareBoxRoomForEmergencies · 16/02/2025 20:26

She's having three.

She had 1 at lunchtime, worked bloody hard cleaning up, went for a long walk, had a 2nd at teatime, and has just poured a 3rd. She didn’t neck an entire bottle in an hour.

there was 1 bottle of fizz between 4 adults, and possibly a bottle of wine between 4 adults, or it might have been the leftovers of the bottle of fizz. Either way, that’s not a lot, not over an entire afternoon and most of the evening.

Yes he should have helped out, has the OP clarified why he did not? Even so, doing all of that, should not mean that she 'needed the drink at the end of the day'.

TicklishReader · 16/02/2025 20:36

Here's a fun fact! A whole bottle of wine can be one glass if you pop a straw in it.

Brunts12 · 16/02/2025 20:37

Well, that’s escalated quickly🙃
Not long till Daily Fail picks this one up.

Completelyjo · 16/02/2025 20:37

Once again, at a minimum the bottle of wine was split into 4 glasses. A minimum because we don’t know what the in-laws drank while they sat on their arse while OP cooked and cleaned up around them.
Which makes each glass of wine 12.5ml over a standard medium measure. ML! More spills running down the bottle for god sake.
And unless OP served her Prosecco in a mug it was likely the typical size which gets 6 from a bottle because there isn’t even much space to over pour in a fizz glass.
But keep suggesting the OP sat there with 1 bottle and 1 straw.

You aren't right.

You are still ignoring that the link you posted even backed it up by saying a baby would be mildly drowsy if mum has around 15 drinks. 3 drinks is nowhere near 15 drinks.
