DH not happy

I have just entertained DMIL DFIL and all the family for a roast dinner. We had a bottle of bubbles when they arrived. I cooked and served a full roast. Then we went for a walk, we have 4 under 5.
When we got back I did teas and coffees for everyone. Cleared, unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher etc. As well as breastfeeding a baby.
Had a quick dance party to tire kids out.
during which DH commented I was drunk and should stop dancing.
We have now put the kids to bed.
Have poured a glass of wine out of what was left from DMIL and DFiL bottle they left with us. Fully thought I earned it but maybe not. Am I wrong.

Home measures, not pub measures!

You cannot assume OP is pouring massive glasses, there is nothing to suggest that is the case.

@FrannyScraps

@FrannyScraps

Ironic since the link confirms my opinion.

OP has had 3 glasses of wine= 9 units. Binge drinking is classed as more than 6 units in one session for a female.

Hey if that's what the morals you and the OP have, crack on. But I disagree and am freely able to do so.

100% this!

Hilarious that that particular poster posted a link to a breastfeeding article to try and make out boozing as much as you want whilst breastfeeding is OK, and the article says it's not! 😂And as for the poster that said her midwife said it was OK. That midwife needs sacking!

You’re just quoting hugely incorrect information though. It’s made up that the OP had 9 units and a binge drink isn’t classed as over 6 units.

Wrong.

TagSplashMaverick · 16/02/2025 20:10

Do posters honestly think that the OP poured herself a 250ml glass of fizz earlier?

harriethoyle · 16/02/2025 20:11

He sounds a total bore @Babyitscoldoutside1 and you’ve more than earned that glass of wine!

Dolambslikemintsauce · 16/02/2025 20:11

Next time dh can fucking host his family....

It’s jarring for me because breastfeeding rates are so low in this country and part of the reason for that is the misinformation and lack of education that exists out there around it.

And then come along people like yourself bashing a mum for having a glass of wine in a Sunday treating her like she’s a scumbag.

TagSplashMaverick · 16/02/2025 20:11

Why do women on here hate women so much? It’s such a shitshow these days.

A bottle of wine has 5 glasses, a bottle of Prosecco has 6.
One Prosecco and 2 wines does not a bottle make.
It’s not hard to count, it’s really not.

Hmm. Three glasses of wine is a full bottle? How much do you pour into a glass?

Maybe that’s her problem? She’s clearly been on the pints of wine today herself!

PyongyangKipperbang · 16/02/2025 20:13

DorothyStorm · 16/02/2025 20:06

who said depriving? That is strong language to describe not having three glasses of alcohol.

I dont drink glasses of alcohol, you rather gave yourself away there. I drink wine which contains alcohol. If I drank pure alcohol I would have been dead years ago! And sometimes I drink coffee, actually I drink A LOT of coffee but dont panic, its all decaff. Most of the time I drink OJ and lemonade, personal preference.

I used the word "deprive" because that is often how it is put across, as some sort of sacrifice. "I choose not to have more than one small glass because my child means more" or somesuch, it implies a sacrifice. They want it but choose to deprive themselves.

Dont forget to sing hymns around the organ.

AlertCat · 16/02/2025 20:13
  • *Alcohol passes freely into breastmilk. Levels of alcohol in your breastmilk reach approximately the same levels as your blood. Your blood alcohol levels have to reach around 300mg/100ml (or 0.3%) before causing mild sedation in your baby. This compares with a level of 80mg/100ml (0.08%) needed to fail the police blood test in England, Wales and N. Ireland; or 50mg/100ml (0.05%) Scotland.
  • Peak alcohol levels in your milk appear after 30-90 minutes but this does not mean that social drinking of small amounts of alcohol mean that you cannot breastfeed as normal.*
@BatchCookBabe did you read this properly? You need to have a blood-alcohol level of almost four times the drink-drive limit for it to cause “mild sedation” in your baby. Most people would have passed out by then!

And social drinking of small amounts of alcohol- such as three glasses spread over a whole afternoon, a meal and a walk- doesn’t mean you cannot breastfeed as normal. Which means you CAN breastfeed as normal. I don’t understand why you’re so agitated by the OP’s story.

ThriveIn2025 · 16/02/2025 20:13

What happened during the dance party that made your DH comment that you were drunk?

5 glasses of wine in one bottle? Don't be ridiculous! 😂

Drinking alcohol and breastfeeding?

Sure.

And??????

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 16/02/2025 20:14

What exactly did he do to help in all of this OP?

He sounds horribly unappreciative

FrannyScraps · 16/02/2025 20:14

MumCanIHaveASnackPlease · 16/02/2025 20:09

I didn’t post the link to say booze as much as you like I posted it to dispel this utter nonsense that consuming any alcohol at all when you’re breastfeeding a mortal sin.

Except you didn't follow the conversation properly... the dispute came about one glass being the same as three glasses... I disagreed that it was 'normal and fine' as your link confirmed. One glass, ok. Three glasses and we're technically binging (I know most class a binge as much more) and when it comes to breastfeeding/ driving / whatever, these small differences matter.

BatchCookBabe · 16/02/2025 19:54

100% this. ^ Can't believe the amount of posters on here enabling the OP. Shocking really. Particularly as some of them very likely have young children themselves! 😱

It isn't shocking when you are knowledgeable about alcohol and breastfeeding. 3 glasses of wine over a long period of time and with the fact OP has had a big Sunday dinner really isn't an issue.

pelargoniums · 16/02/2025 20:15

Your husband sounds like an absolute arse, OP. A lot like many of the posters on this thread! Anyone would think you’re Oliver Reed.

Theunamedcat · 16/02/2025 18:59

How many drinks did you actually have?

She earned whatever number she had. Doesn't sound like the DH lifted a finger while hosting his family.

Sorry to be "that" person but a pub measure of a small glass is 125 ml, so any wine bottle of 75cl has 6 small glasses. Then you have medium of 175 (and I cba to do the maths on that) and then 250ml, large, gives you three glasses.

Hwi · 16/02/2025 20:16

What a stupid person your dh is! You could not have been drunk even if you wanted to - a bottle of shampoo and 1 bottle of wine between 4 adults? What a stupid person he is!
