DH not happy

I have just entertained DMIL DFIL and all the family for a roast dinner. We had a bottle of bubbles when they arrived. I cooked and served a full roast. Then we went for a walk, we have 4 under 5.
When we got back I did teas and coffees for everyone. Cleared, unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher etc. As well as breastfeeding a baby.
Had a quick dance party to tire kids out.
during which DH commented I was drunk and should stop dancing.
We have now put the kids to bed.
Have poured a glass of wine out of what was left from DMIL and DFiL bottle they left with us. Fully thought I earned it but maybe not. Am I wrong.

Not a good idea to drink when in charge of young childre

Her DH is there for that.

I’m fairly certain parents don’t give up alcohol until their children are 18.

Goldengirl123 · 16/02/2025 19:46

I think by this answer you have probably had enough and you should think of the child you are breastfeeding

GrandpaFlump · 16/02/2025 19:46

I get the weird vibe that there’s more to this.

sugarspiceandeverythingnice12 · 16/02/2025 19:47

Either you've had issues with alcohol in the past, and he's anti you drinking because of that

Or he's a miserable, lazy cunt

Completelyjo · 16/02/2025 19:47

What’s with all the probation posters crawling out for this thread??

I mean based on what they each physically contributed to the day I think we can guess which one.

Hmm i was yanbu but you do sound tipsy, argumentative and three glasses is over half a bottle. When breastfeeding that really is a lot.

Doesn't sound tipsy at all to me.

It's AIBU, plenty of people argue on here. Are 99% of AIBU constantly tipsy?

Achyarms · 16/02/2025 19:48

All PP being silly about the amount of wine and breastfeeding need to do their research!!! It’s not the same as being pregnant and drinking.

sure you can’t down a bottle of vodka and breastfeed but if you are mainly okay eg standing upright walking and talking then you’re not lying on the floor drunk etc. the amount OP is quoting is fine

PyongyangKipperbang · 16/02/2025 19:49

"You should stop drinking"

"If you pulled your finger out of your lazy fucking arse and actually helped me, maybe I wouldnt need to".

BobbyBiscuits · 16/02/2025 19:49

I would not be having that whatsoever. It would make me want to punch him in the face.

Newone2021 · 16/02/2025 19:49

Of course three glasses is fine! If you're safe to look after a baby you're safe to breastfeed (but no no, sure we need more ways to shame women/mothers!) It's pretty outdated advice that drinking=unsafe to breastfeed. I'm also teetotal btw so am not saying all this to justify anything to myself, it's just the way it is

The bigger issue here is that OP you seem to have done so much for everyone and your husband hasn't helped and is in fact being quite horrible to you.

Enjoy your wine, and keep the husband in the bin.

paddyclampster · 16/02/2025 19:49

The OP hasn’t done anything wrong!

BatchCookBabe · 16/02/2025 19:51

Justalittlehandhold · 16/02/2025 19:46

What’s the problem with that?

FFS! 🙄

Could be both.

PyongyangKipperbang · 16/02/2025 19:53

@Babyitscoldoutside1 Its a school night, so of course the Mumsnet Temperance League is out in force. Dont you know that one glass only on Friday and Saturday nights are allowed? Two are allowed on your birthday, anniversary and Xmas day, anything else and you are a problem drinker. Get thee to AA!

Drinking alcohol and breastfeeding?

Sure.

Get an education please for the love of god.

namechangeGOT · 16/02/2025 19:54

Stupid comment. The OP's 'child' is a little baby who she is breastfeeding (whilst 3 sheets to the wind by all accounts!)

@BatchCookBabe

You think 3 glasses of wine over the course of a full day makes someone '3 sheets to the wind'?

you're not wrong. I'm just drinking the last of the port

100% this. ^ Can't believe the amount of posters on here enabling the OP. Shocking really. Particularly as some of them very likely have young children themselves! 😱

Hedgingmybetching · 16/02/2025 19:54

Since breast milk has the same alcohol content as blood when the mother drinks, the OP would be dead from alcohol poisoning before her blood alcohol level got high enough to harm her baby.

As long as the OP isn't too drunk to look after the baby safely breastfeeding and drinking is absolutley fine. Drinking when pregnant is another story.

Sorry your DH is being an absolute twat OP, he can cook and host the lot himself next time and you can sit and count his fucking drinks xx.

Have you even been drunk?! "Three sheets to the wind" does not mean 3 small glasses of wine of the course of several hours including a large meal and a long walk! It means pissed as a fart, which I am confident that Op isnt given that she is able to type several coherent posts!

Loloj · 16/02/2025 19:55

Tell your “D”H to fuck off and enjoy your third glass of wine without his shitty glares. Who does he think he is?!

Exactly this. No wonder breastfeeding rates in this country and through the floor when so many misinformed, ignorant people are around spreading utter uneducated nonsense.
