Lucy Letby.....she might actually be innocent?!

I have just watched the full press conference and I'm blown away. There seems to be no actual evidence AT ALL that she killed or injured those babies. This could be one of the biggest miscarriages of justice there has ever been in this country.

They seem utterly convinced these great experts from around the world, I'd urge anyone to watch the conference, it's unbelievable.

I was shocked tbh

JandamiHash · 04/02/2025 21:27

My only thoughts today are with the parents who never got to see their babies grow up, or are looking after severely disabled children. We need to not forget about these people.

Nobody is forgetting them.

But having somebody in prison for the murder of their children if in fact their children were not murdered is not doing them any good.

Donotwantnot · 04/02/2025 21:44

I’ll be waiting for all the apologies from the Mumsnet brigade who absolutely slated me and a few others for outlining why we thought she was innocent (based on the lack of evidence etc) months and months ago.

I won’t hold my breath.

Ocsober · 04/02/2025 21:44

JandamiHash · 04/02/2025 21:13

Yep. Did you follow the podcast? It’s SO detailed and clearly shows how guilty she is

Lets remind ourselves this was it trial by media - she was found guilty on some counts

I followed the podcast and thought it was wishy washy without any clear evidence whatsoever.

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 04/02/2025 21:45

ChanelBoucle · 04/02/2025 21:29

I’ve always suspected that she’s a mentally unwell woman who was gaslighted by a corrupt organisation into believing herself to be guilty so that they could hang the blame on her as a convenient scapegoat for negligence and malpractice. Just a hunch, and not one I’ve spouted about much because I haven’t got any actual evidence. But the findings today are interesting and align with my suspicions.

It also worries me that juries are made up of literally anyone including the fallible, the gullible and sometimes quite unintelligent, who might feel pressurised into giving verdicts they may not truly agree with as individuals. You only have to watch The Traitors to see herd mentality in action.

Hard agree with you

Because the ward stopped caring for very premature babies altogether after lucy letby

Edited

They still care for babies in the age bracket of the babies that Letby murdered. It wasn’t like only babies under 27 weeks died

These people are not served if there is a miscarriage of justice. In fact it’s quite the opposite.

Briannaco · 04/02/2025 21:45

I dont know. It's hard to know.

She isn’t innocent. I find it bizarre how much people are ant her to be

Have you watched the press conference?

there was a long gap between her leaving and the conviction surely?

TomatoSandwiches · 04/02/2025 21:25

To me she comes across as a slightly pathetic figure around her romantic life and immature for her age.

I'm of the beliefe that some people give this vibe off and are targeted because of it.

So you don't know her then. You've just decided who and what she is, because she is a bit rubbish with men and appears to be a bit immature?' (According to you, a person who doesn't actually know her?)

Wow! If people like you were on the jury, no wonder she was convicted. With the mindset YOU have, someone with a similar mindset probably thought 'meh she's got her dark roots showing, I don't like her. let's find her guilty!'

Maybe we didn’t listen to the same podcast. It wasn’t wishy washy it essentially transcribed the trial, adhering to very strict reporting standards

What proof is there that she murdered them?

Apart from her being on shift at the time.

But people in hospitals are sick and many of them die.

It would be like saying a nurse in a and e is a murderer because she was on shift when people died

Herewegoagain29 · 04/02/2025 21:47

JandamiHash · 04/02/2025 21:08

Hard disagree. I followed the trial very closely. She is guilty.

I really do think people’s mindset rests on her looks an ethnicity. If Lucy Letby was a black woman or fat or unattractive, nobody would be protesting her innocence

I really think that's bullshit.
It was a highly unusual and horrifying case that we all could identify with - the horrific dealth of innocent babies.
The fact Letby was female and the rarity value of female mass murderers.

I feel you being so pejoritive about black women's ethnicity, saying that no one would care about them if they were accused of such an unusual crime. If anything the press would have been scrutinising the case for racial bias.

QuantumBeep · 04/02/2025 21:47

Mike Lynch, who died when his yacht sank in a storm off the coast off Sicily in August, also raised concerns over Letby's conviction. He was an expert statistician and highlighted potential flaws in the calculations used to build the case against her.

I think she’s innocent and I don’t think she’s attractive! So you’re wrong.

I’ve watched highlights and I don’t think any of it disproves what was presented in the trial.

Dramatic · 04/02/2025 21:15

14 extremely highly qualified neonatal experts questioned it and have done an extremely thorough report saying there is absolutely no evidence to say these babies were murdered. I'm not questioning this off my own back.

How many extremely highly qualified neonatal experts aren't questioning it?

LivelyScroller · 04/02/2025 21:48

And why is anyone on about her looks...she was not on trial for her looks...or is it trial by media...

Takeoutyourhen · 04/02/2025 21:48

I think that there must have been epic NHS fuck ups happening at the same time.
Will have to listen to the conference and podcast.

Briannaco · 04/02/2025 21:48

People die on every nurses shift.

I was just talking to a nurse recently. She said she has done cpr on around 10 people already in january. She works in a and e.

Nursing is a field where people will die .

They weren't allowed to care for babies who were very unwell though, whatever week they were born

What proof - nine months worth of evidence to a jury for a start.

Do you REALLY think that was nine months of people repeating “well she was on shift”

And before people claim the jury were out to get her, she wasn’t found guilty on all counts.

Hobbesmanc · 04/02/2025 21:50

It's terrible for the families. But there's been significant noise around the investigation and her conviction since the beginning

The statistical evidence of the deaths and incidents presented to the jury was misleading and distorted.

The insulin poisoning has been disputed as has the embolism allegation

Much was made of her personality, the wording of her diaries, her apparent neediness, fb searches for the families. But none of this is anything but circumstantial

I think it's a horrible miscarriage of justice.
