I lost my car keys yesterday. I was so stressed as I needed to leave for work at 6:15 today and I was pulling my hair out retracing my steps all day. I got into bed and like a lightbulb moment I remembered putting them in my dressing down pocket! I really hope the same happens for you. I’ve left them on the tumble dryer before?

My keys are insured on my car insurance with Tesco, fingers crossed yours are.

OnTheBoardwalk · 02/02/2025 22:41

my Cat had one of those magnetic collars for the cat flap. I always left my keys the top of the stairs. My cats collar picked the up and randomly dropped them in the cats room

any chance something random like this happened?

Ivesaidenough · 02/02/2025 23:31

I feel for you. My DC took off his PE top to put his pyjamas on two weeks ago whilst the rest of us were out. It's still missing...
What about next to the loo/on top of the cistern?

At least that won’t cost you £300 to replace I guess!

Threewheeler1 · 03/02/2025 06:02

Good luck OP. I'm constantly losing things, especially keys, don't know how, but yes to the tumble drier, loo, inside random shoes, behind a lamp (had obviously put keys down to switch it on but no memory of it) and outside by the bins...
Hoping they appear! x

No I do not have a spare key or I would be using it and not so worried

I once managed to lock my car key in the car - stupid car! Anyway it was similar scheme and work has the spare - they managed to send it special delivery to me the following day. Might you be able to do similar?

Bagladygirl · 03/02/2025 07:43

Hey thank you for all your suggestions.
still no sign of them I'm going to have to call them this morning unfortunately. I just hope that they can add it on the bill rather than it be upfront
I have done another scour this morning and absolutely nothing.

They’ll turn up when you least expect it OP. It will suddenly come to you.

ImTheMidsomerMurderer · 03/02/2025 10:51

Aww that's a shame @Bagladygirl I was hoping you'd found them!

Bagladygirl · 03/02/2025 18:02

Still no luck snd can't get a new set until I pay £250 so that's going to be a month away. The good news is I'm too exhausted to actually care now

I did check in my shoes too

Child’s bag? All the pockets of every garment?
Turn bag out completely?

AtomicBlondeRose · 03/02/2025 18:12

Have you offered DC £5 to find them? That might spur on a very thorough search?

Overthebow · 03/02/2025 18:16

Focus on the necessary things. Can your DC get to school? Is there public transport you can take to work?

Bumcake · 03/02/2025 18:43

What a bummer. Could you get a temp overdraft?

Twinsandsome · 03/02/2025 19:07

Bagladygirl · 02/02/2025 20:30

I used the key to get in my house - they are all
tigether however I have spare house keys so that's not as much of an issue

@Bagladygirl so the last time you used or had the key was after dinner at your friends on Friday evening? Is that right?

Ohnobackagain · 03/02/2025 19:08

@Bagladygirl if you got into the house and they are on a bunch are they in the front door?

  • coat pocket
  • cardi pocket
  • dd’s bed
  • bathroom
  • wash basket
  • trouser pocket
Dietlady58 · 03/02/2025 19:10

This happened to me recently. It took me 4 hours to find my keys. There was a hole in my handbag lining and they had slipped through.
i hope you find them soon.

Livingmybestlifenow · 03/02/2025 19:12

Key cover on your car insurance? Might reduce the cost of replacement if you have it.

SecretlyScared · 03/02/2025 19:17

ImTheMidsomerMurderer · 02/02/2025 19:42

@Bagladygirl I'm really hoping you've found them by now, but if not, like a couple of other pp, ask St Anthony, you have nothing to lose! I always do this and I am in no way religious.
Have you checked:
Under the beds.
The grass outside.
Under the car.
Under the sofas.
Kitchen cupboards / fridge.
Washing machine/ tumble dryer.
EVERY pocket in the house.
DC School bag.

Hope you find them soon 🙏🏻

So you're just using St Anthony when you need him? 😂

LambriniBobInIsleworthISeesYa · 03/02/2025 19:21

Random but the one time we lost our keys and they seemed truly lost (and were lost a week) they turned up in the empty mop bucket. To this day I have no idea how, presumably they fell in it, but no where near the door or anything obvious we would go to when first coming in the house. So check there!

FrustratedandBemused · 03/02/2025 19:24

Marmunia10667 · 03/02/2025 19:20

Not religious, but surely most people only pray when they want/need something?!

I’d definitely suggest that child helps, with bribery in mind! I lost keys periodically when my oldest two were babies, when tired, stressed etc it’s so easy to do.
I hope you find them and ignore the idiots on here. Honestly some like to kick a person when they’re down-shakes head!
