They company are closed but I'm wondering if anyone has ever come against this before and if they will replace the key
mum panicking as have no money

When you do find your keys, consider getting an airtag or similar key ring attachment. At least that way, you'll know if thye're still in your house/car/bag or elsewhere.

I lost my door keys, they actually fell through a hole in the lining of my handbag and were between the lining and the outer material. It really felt like they weren't in the bag until I gave it a good shake and could hear them despite the bag being 'empty'.

Sorry I'm really stressed it's a car key for a car on salary sacrifice car scheme

Is that it? What do you think insurance is for? They’ll replace the key for you. Unless you don’t have key cover in which case it’ll cost a couple of £££ but not the end of the world.

Likewhatever · 02/02/2025 15:30

I think it’s a typo, “I’m panicking as have no money”.
Is there only one key to the car?

Redcandlescandal · 02/02/2025 15:43

So to translate, you have lost your car key?

The fact it’s bought on salary sacrifice is probably irrelevant.

Surely you have a spare? Or did you also lose that?

What does your mother have to do with it? Is she the one who lost your car key or have you lost hers?

If you aren’t insured for key loss and have already lost the spare, then you will have to get a new one. Do you have a credit card? Can you see if your bank will provide or extend an overdraft?

We can all pray to St. Anthony in the meantime…

Peaceandquietandacuppa · 02/02/2025 16:02

Whose car, yours or your mums? Is it lost lost, or can you have another scout around? I reckon you’d have to pay, as it’s not the employer’s responsibility?

Threewheeler1 · 02/02/2025 16:06

Fluffyowl00 · 02/02/2025 14:12

You haven’t lost it on a walk in South Manchester have you? I’ve just found one

This would make my day of gormlessly reading threads worthwhile 😀
Oh Gods of MN, please let it be the key 🙏

Justwingingit2005 · 02/02/2025 16:06

My DH has a SS car.
The company will replace the key but DH will be billed.

FrustratedandBemused · 02/02/2025 16:12

I have a lease car through my company scheme and it’s £400 to replace my key if lost.
Do you have another key? If so I’d wait and see if the other one turns up.

Start a new thread OP, Help me find my car keys. People are very resourceful!

BobnLen · 02/02/2025 16:25

So is it a normal key or a card, have you checked all your pockets, bags, front garden, anywhere between car and house if your house key wasn't with them.

Stravaig · 02/02/2025 16:25

OP, when you find or replace the key, please, please don't get behind the wheel and drive until you can string a clear, coherent sentence together 🤣.

Delphiniumandlupins · 02/02/2025 16:31

Retrace your steps from when you absolutely know you last had the key. Every little thing you did - put rubbish in bin, went to toilet, put shopping away etc. Check every pocket and empty bags. Good luck

Hadjab · 02/02/2025 16:39

Also, when you find your keys/get a replacement/use the second set, you might want to get a tracker, such as an AirTag or a Tile…

Really nice you try being a a single parent of a young child with a disability with no one to help then see how great you perform

When I lost my keys once it turned out my toddler had put them in the bin!

Thank you I have been through bins pickets dirty washing everything I have pulled out the sofa and gone through drawers just can't find them I know I'm being laughed at due to not putting a post on very clearly but I am beside myself as I don't know how I will get through the week without my car and I have no money to pay for this

Have you dropped them outside after locking the car? Have you got breakdown cover? They will probably come out but imagine you will get charged for a new key. How long can you wait for it to hopefully turn up? Sadly we had to get a new key in similar circumstances recently and it cost over £300! Check if your insurance may cover you (but the excess might mean it’s not worth it).

I voted YABU for posting such a load of word salad.

LIZS · 02/02/2025 16:44

No second set of keys?

Bleachbum · 02/02/2025 16:44

Check kids toy boxes. That’s where I eventually found mine. Sadly only after I had paid £300 for a replacement.

BobnLen · 02/02/2025 16:46

Have you not got the spare key
